im buying a mech mod and the only thing im stuck on is..... how should i know if my battery is droping or losing power cause i dont want to go below 3.7 volts on a vtc5.

This is a great question, and in most cases you are going to get the same answer.

I'll try to dig a little deeper for you.

If you have a low ohm set-up, lets say 0.5 ohm your battery is going to last much shorter than a 1.0 ohm set-up. That much should be fairly obvious. To get an idea check out the Battery Drain section on the Steam Engine calculator.

A 0.5 ohm coil on your battery would last somewhere between 30 and 40 minutes of vaping at a rate of 5 good puffs a minute non stop (super heavy vaping).

The same coil and battery combo would last 3 hours and 15 minutes if you took just one good puff a minute.

If you do the super heavy vaping 15 minutes per hour, you'll get 2 hours and 30 minutes between battery changes.

I would suggest take a day to measure e-liquid use to battery drain, make a determination on your own when you feel like changing the battery out for a fresh one based on how close to 3.7 volts you are comfortable with getting. I vape from a mechanical mod at or very close to 0.5 ohms and swap batteries every 3ml of juice, for me this is fairly easy and never puts me anywhere close to 3.7 volts. I vape at an irregular pace throughout the day so this tends to work best for me. You'll notice a change in the vape experience as the voltage drops off, in my opinion at first the difference is most highly noticeable just as soon as you have changed out the battery; with time you will develop a feel for when the vape quality is such that you are aware that a battery change is needed.
