I currently have a smok alien 220W mod, the runs on Two 18650, 3.7V, 3500mAh.
I have the cloud beast tank. It comes with an rda coil option and I'm trying to learn the buildable coil area.
Currently the ohms are at 0.495. how and when dose it become unsafe to use/ how will I know if I'm going to blow it up in my face really. I want to be as safe as possible, but I'm reluctant to use it cuz I don't know anything about it.

Thanks!

Hello and welcome to the forums, I do have the same set up and so far I know you should be pretty safe, the alien mod is a regulated device and has many safe features built on it, the real danger is with the mechanical mods, I build my coils from . 3 to 1 ohms to be used on my alien mod, but you should check my post, look for my posts under my name I have the feeling that you may have the same questions that I had before

Hello. I suggest looking here. Great calculator. Click on the ohms law tab.

I would point out (i assume) the smok alien is a regulated mod, so resistance doesn't really matter. It matters in the sense of the wattage you need to put into it to get the vape/temp you like, but it is not a mech. Learn ohms law and the power law (for when you use a mech or if you want to do the math), but amp drain on a regulated device is I=P/V (ignoring buck/boost/chip efficiency for simplification) - where voltage is actual battery state.

So if you vape at 40W on a single 18650, lets say 3.2V for your lowish battery state, drain would be 12.5A no matter what ohms your coil is.

As Aspathos said, on a regulated mod the coil resistance is essentially irrelevant. What dictates the amp draw on the battery is the wattage you set, and the remaining voltage in the battery. The amp draw will increase as the battery discharges.

In the interests of keeping things simple:
If you use a good quality 20 amp CDR battery like the Samsung 30Q or the LG HG2 then you are good for 60 watts per battery. So in your case don't exceed 120 watts as you have two batteries.
If you use a pair of 30 amp CDR batteries like the LG HB6 you could safely do 180 watts assuming the mod cuts off when the batteries reach 3.4 volts.

220 watts just isn't safely achievable with a two battery mod.

You didn't specify exactly what battery you have, but if it's really 3400 mAh then it will most likely have a CDR of about 10 amps, or perhaps less. Until you can find out what their true CDR is I wouldn't go above 60 watts on your mod. If post a picture or can further describe them we should be able to identify them.
