Hi,
After stalking the mailman after I missed my package, I finally got the Grant.
However, I have a few problems getting it fired up.
Got 14500 batteries (AW protected and IMR) but they seem to be too loose.
Main "problem is the button"; how do I get the button to fire since it doesn't seem to have a spring inside but a locking mechanism?
Button won't push down. Thanks

Thanks Torque; I may not have made it very clear what thw question is, sorry.
I can use the Grant IF I screw the button and littl locking ring completly together and it pushes itself on the metal post. In order to release I have to turn the button and lock it or it will keep firing (this way I need both hands, obviously not the way it was intended to use). It's beautiful and I think I habve the early tube bc of thae battery issue (can use a slightly longer, protected AW with 2 magnets. I really would like to vape it all day today, but won't be able to without figuring out how the button pushes. Thanks Torque :)

Silver, maybe you need to adjust that smaller ring, the one that locks the button in place on the tube.

Basically, screw the button onto the tube and see if you need/want to screw it in more or less, then adjust that small locking ring so it holds it where you want it. I love the adjustable throw buttons and if that one is the same concept as the GGTS adjustable buttons then all you need to do is find the spot where the amount of throw is comfortable while being able to make contact with the post when pressed and lock it there :)

Silver, this is not a Grant but a GGT. As I see you have the adjustable button throw. Its the same as the brass buttons I made recently.
Screw the button to the tube but not un til it stops. Screw it until you see that when you press the head of the button it makes contact with the center post of the venting cap. Then screw the thin nut so button locks in this position. Then unscrew the fat nut and vape

Imeo, why do you think this is a GGT ? My 14500 imr batteries rattle in mine :) Easiest way to tell, if a 18650 will fit in the hole it's not a Grant

A 18650 will definately not fit into the hole tried it). I am pretty sure it's a Grant since the seller (an ex collector) was on the hunt for quite a while and got it from an ex GG supplier.

And thanks, I will watch the videos to figure the button out. I had it going (but like I said, only when the button pushed itself onto the post and I had to turn the turn the button sideways but was never able to push it onto the post.

Imeo, did you make the first Grant tubes bigger than the later ones? I got it from an ex collector who sold pretty much everything and got it from a former GG supplier. Tried to put a larger battery in but no luck (maybe I need to get the Trustfires and not AW's). Is the button the same no matter if it's a Grant or Transformer?

Ok, I figured out what the problem is. I big nut is so very close to the button (so close that I can't even see a gap. Will try carefully to get the big part moving. So far I worked only with the locking nut and the button as a whole; no wonder I didn't get it to work ;)
Is there any way to get the big nut away from the button without damaging it?

If you've got a pair of rubber gloves (like the big yellow dishwashing gloves or the grippy gardening gloves) try that. It'll help you hold on to the button threads on one end and the big nut on the other without damaging anything. If it's really stuck, you can spritz it with a little penetrating oil like WD-40 and let sit for a few minutes and try again

If you are talking about taking it apart, there's a few threads where I posted pictures and instructions here on the forum. Follow the simple instructions and you'll never put a mark on it.

I can't remember exactly which threads so try a few searches and if I can remember which I'll post the link. Works on all button/switches and works every time

I soaked it, lubed it, my fingers are almost bloody (thumb) but I can't get the big nut loosend, it's just too tight. Maybe I tried the wrong direction but I doubt it. Going camping in a half an hour and really wanted to take him with me. Thanks for the advice alll of you.

Sounds like its either cross threaded or has solidified juice holding it together. Might need to break out the needle nose pliers. Drop it in an envelope and I'll turn it around in a day, i'm home all this week and next
