Help please.....what to do?

Hi everyone
I am new to e cigarettes and just as new to this forum.
I like smoking. Yes its bad for you but it does have benefitsn Nicotine has shown that it improves memory and can even raise intelligence, well if intelligence can be defined that is.

I live in the UK and its probably one of the most anti smoking places around. I don't want to give up. I never have. I am happy smoking but the government wont leave me alone. Its got to the stage where I can no longer afford to sustain my habit.

I used to be on 40 a day. Now its 20 and its forced on me. £6 (around 11 dollars) for one pack of 20 Regal King size is insane.

The UK constantly check packages so you cant even get them cheaper from abroad anymore and I am sick to the back teeth with their meddling ways.

So I have decided to use e cigarettes. So I can smoke anywhere, get my nicotine hits and still afford it. Its a bonus that the nasty stuff often found in cigarettes is not there.

Most the stuff I read about e cigarettes though tell me its a way to give up. I don't want to give up. I have no intention of doing that. I like the way nicotine improves focus and relieves stress.

But I know absolutely nothing about these e cigs.

I want to go back onto 40 a day. I want something that resembles Regal King size. I can't stand marlboro so please don't go there.

Will these things work? Will they give me the same buzz? Will it hit the back of the throat the same way?

If they do what should I get?

I know absolutely nothing about these, actually even less than that ha ha.

I just want to smoke.

So help me please

Hey Chrissy I did my reasearch and ended up ordering from Vapor4Life and bought the Vapor King starter kit due to recommendations on this forum and the fact that I don't think there is anything like them in the UK besides Totally Wicked, but they didn't have the E cigarette type I was looking for. Got my first order through within a week of ordering it. The customer service is excellent and they ship your order on the same day. No problem getting through customs so don't let that stop you. I have been doing this for 3 weeks now and just wish I had heard about it years ago.

Yes it is very similar to smoking but without all the crap that goes with it. I'm certainly getting my nicotine buzz. You can order different strengths the same as cigarettes.

Check out the website and have a look at all the different flavours, unbelievable.

PM me if you want to.

The best thing for you to do at this point, is to spend alot of time here reading
and I believe all your questions will be answered. There are many benefits
from ecigs and I believe you will find them quite satisfying. The throat hit
you ask about is very much possible. I personally use a larger battery mod
to achive this. Battery size is very important in ecigs.
So please spend some time here reading and learning. Also go to YouTube and
you will find just about everything ecig there as well.
They do work for us that wanted to quit smoking analogs. You will still get
the mental satisfaction of "still smoking". I hope that you give these a try.
Remember knowledge is power and
Good Luck and all the best to you.

Welcome to ECF and vaping, e-cigs can replace smoking but there is some trade off.
Getting something to "resemble Regal King size" is tough, the flavors available, even
the "tobacco" flavors still do not taste like a burning vegetable mass, the good news is after
vapeing a while, you will find that "special taste" repulsive. Tobacco flavor is enjoyed
by smokers, mostly because it accompanies the nicotine hit. IMO

There is UK site for Liberty Flights UK E-Liquid
which is regarded as a reputable supplier here in the colonies also :)

The Riva starter set is a good beginner kit and also a mix of various flavors in small sample
sizes would be advisable. Try a large variety of flavors as you will be surprised which ones
may hit your fancy. You can get the nicotine "juice" in many various strengths, designated
by the mg of nicotine per ml of liquid, as 30mg/mL. For a full strength smoker who was a
2 pad, cut down to 1 pad but not likeing it, it sounds like you're missing your nic.
A level of strength somewhere between 24mg/mL and 36mg/mL is likely to fit you,
the range is large (in vaping strengths) but everyone has a different threshold and level
that is best for them, a few experiments are in order (why you want small samples of juice)

If you have further questions, post any time, lots of good people and advice here.

You'll find as you read in this forum that a lot us have no intentions of quitting vaping. This is an alternative to smoking for us. Read through the sticky section of the new member forum and most of your questions are already answered there. Watch through Mistress Nomads video series, also in the sticky section. She has an amazing amount of information packed into those videos. As for the tobacco flavors, that's a difficult one. There are some good ones, but you'll find that most people move away from the tobacco flavors. You most likely won't find one exactly like what you are smoking now. On the other hand, the throat hit and heat can be reproduced quite well.

Hope this helps and good luck to you.

You've come to the right place. I kicked a 35 year 1.5 pack a day habit after ONE DAY with an e-cig (I bought the Joye eGo style) and haven't had OR WANTED a regular cigarette in over 4 months. So, to briefly answer your questions:

Yes, these things do work - of course, like anything else, experiences vary but I highly recommend you look around on this forum for tips, advice, information and everything else you can think of (and more) to get more specific in your search for help.

As stated above, I got the Joye eGo brand and highly recommend it. My wife uses one too and we both quit regular cigs the same day and have had very good experiences with this particular brand. There are many, many other good ones and sometimes you can get overloaded with the choices but I think most folks would agree that the eGo has certainly earned a good reputation all things being considered and is great for a beginner.

It sounds like you are a relatively heavy smoker and would need an e-cig with a good battery life and a good size cartridge. The standard eGo battery lasts me around 8-10 hours of moderate to heavy use. You should probably also make sure you get the "mega atomizer" version of the eGo if you decide to go with one because the cartridge holds more juice than the "pen-style" e-cigs (pen-styles are about the size of a regular cigarette). I would also suggest you start with at least an 18mg and up to 24mg strength of nicotine juice if you want to completely stop the cravings for regular cigarettes. You can always taper down from there if needed but most would not recommend you go higher.

As far as "flavors" go...that's a whole new world. I personally never even tried the "cigarette flavors". I wanted to distance myself from even the subconscious idea of smoking regular cigs so my wife and I mix our own juices and flavor them with whatever suites our fancy at the time. Now it's turned into as much of a hobby as a habit but we're enjoying it a HELL of a lot more than when we smoked I can assure you.

We also did not wish to give up the nicotine and have been perfectly satisfied with our experience as have most people here who switched completely to the e-cig. There is a learning curve for sure but if you want to, you can do it. You've just got to commit yourself to learning a whole new "language" and make a few lifestyle changes to really be successful. But they DO work and between my wife and I we've tried every other method and failed every time. Over 4 months smoke free now and we ARE NOT going back, of that I can assure you.

You'll find all the support and info you need here. Just be patient, and take the time to use the resources you'll find here. I seriously doubt you can even come up with a question that hasn't already been asked and answered here (use the search functions to narrow down your choices). GOOD LUCK and WELCOME TO OUR SMOKE FREE WORLD!!

Welcome Chris,
Quite honestly, you can't make a bad decision with e-cigs.
You'll buy your first starter kit and you will say to yourself, "This will work".
Then all these threads will make sense and you will turn your addiction into a hobby collecting various hardware and juices.
You will eventually start saving money. But at first it will be similar to buying a carton of Regals.

Hi Chrissy, a lot of us started using e-cigs with no intention of quitting smoking but it happened anyway. These things are so great, they give you all the pleasures of smoking without all the bad stuff. Do your research, buy from a reputable vendor (plenty on here at ECF). Ethereal recommended Vapor4Life, and they are excellent. Just take it at your own pace, try different flavors and nicotine levels until you find what works for you. Best of luck to you.

Hi chrissyy2007.
Welcome to the ECF forum. A good decision. A lot of good people here to help you ! :)

It sounds like this is for you. You will save money!
If you can then tolerate: Vast improvement on respiratory system, cancer risk reduction, no smelly clothes or home, not freezing the b*tt off outside, no repelling body odeur, yummy flavours, not exposing others to 2-hand smoke, no filled ashtrays and sticky fingers once in a while....You'll be ready to go !

"I want a unit that 1)looks like a cigarette, it must 2)work like a cigarette when I draw, and it must 3)taste like the brand that I'm used to ! I.e. it must 4)feel like I'm actually smoking".
(That's the typical entry point for people (smokers) when looking at the world of PV's. PV is the preferred term - for a variety of reasons)

All statements will stand corrected after one week of owing a PV. Except that you can get a smoking-like experience. There are numerous brands that target the initial views - basically all members here now have them in the drawer - or they have been passed on. It's a matter of battery duration and durability. (Sorry, guys).

I could ramble on.. (..get a good start to vaping.. how and why..) - but will recommend some action for you :
1)Given your smoking habits you must go directly after Tornado/Riva/eGo/Inferno/.... style equipment. They are basically the same, giving a good battery life. They are more like "cigar-sized", it's a matter of physics, until a more powerful battery tech is invented.
2)Use manual batteries (press a button). It will take 30 sec's to learn. Auto batteries are prone to get liquid down the sensory system, and the battery will fry or seize to work. Manual batteries are much better sealed.
3)You'll never get your brand - and you won't care !(+!). Once you get the liquid that works for you.
4)OK - if you follow 1+2+3 ;o)

In the UK you have LF and TW and even others that are good. As a customer I can recommend TW - haven't tried LF - but right now they're out on almost anything Riva. And TW have discount on the Tank system. I'd recommend that. Get an extra USB passthrough unit (Tornado) for convenience and supply when using PC.

For starter juice(liquid) I'd recommend: .. (been looking forward to this).. Mx/bury (or what they call it). It's a really good beginners choice. Tobacco like, a little sweet, generally pleasant. Goes well with the Tank system. As suggested, get 18 and 24mg, but also get a bottle of VG and PG, and some empty drip bottles. This way you'll be able to thin your juice to even lower strength. If you intend to vape a lot (eq. to 40 cigarettes a day), you should go to 12mg or ever lower. You can get 12mg by adding, say, 40 drops of 24mg with 10 drops/PG and 30 drops/VG + 8 drops additional flavour. A.s.o. Flavour also accessible at the TW site. Order 5x30ml, and get 1-2 36mg unflavoured out of that.

If you do 18mg all day, vaping the equivivalent of 2 packs, chances are that you can get nicotine OD. Signs are: Dizzy, queasy, headache, sleeping trouble, increased heartrate.
My own approach is to be at the "lower limit" of nicotine level, and then use some stronger juice if there's an urge/crave.

The initial bill will get above £100, but don't do compromizes here. It's only 10 days of analogs, and you can vape for 1 month. Since then, even less (juice only).

Excuses for long reply - but you'll get easily lost in the wealth of ECF info...
Some video's and post are often recommended... I haven't seen/read them, though.

If interest, I can post links and more detailed suggestions. Just say the word. :)

PS: I have just (Friday) introduced a 40 year, 40 a day smoking colleague to the TW Tank set (I told in detail what to order, including to get diluters and flavours). She had the package unopened(!) for a week or so, until we sat down and looked at it. First puff was many coughs. After puffing some w/o inhale, and then a little inhale, it was ok. And the she just puffed away, saying "Not bad at all - it's like the real thing..". Yeah. That was M@x/bury btw.

Good Vape !

E-cigarettes don't work that way. They don't come tasting like a particular brand. You buy a good model that has easily refilable carts and/or cartomizers and then try a bunch of eliquids to find flavors/aromas you like (and for tobacco ejuices that will mostly be aroma unless it is a sweet tobacco).

There exist some e-cigarettes the size of a king-size cig but generally they are very weak with very short battery life and annoying tiny carts and are usually sold by companies who either charge rip-off prices and/or don't sell blank carts. They satisfy few for more than a few weeks. The hit is usually weak - something that might please an ultralights smoker for a month.

If you go a bit fatter than a cigarette there is Joye 510 - probably the most supported ecig threading - the most parts available for any ecigarette. In its normal form it doesn't look quite like a cigarette since it has a long atomizer in the middle and a short cart. I prefer to use it with blank cartomizers (Boge soft-cap standard 510 cartos). Then it is about the size of 100mm cigarette. 2-3 hour battery life, less if vaped heavily. PCC available - you can charge one battery on the go while using the other and it can do 3-4 charges. For 1.5x+ longer life there are 510 mega xl batteries - about an inch longer and a different PCC fits those. Makes 128mm long ecig with a standard cartomizer, 138mm with atomizer and cart.

Then if you want more battery life you can look at Ego, Ego-T, Riva 510 models which are 510-threaded batteries that are fatter - no longer looks like a ciagarette but provides 6-8+ hours of battery life.

BTW - once you have 5 posts or replies and wait about an hour, you'll be able to post in the UK forum and find out what good ecigs are most available in or near the UK.

I would suggest that you not try to go lower than 18mg liquid. I was a heavy smoker and started at 36mg, and stayed there for several months in order to quell the urge to smoke. Then I moved gradually down to 24mg; I've been there ever since because the 18mg liquid only works sometimes. Eventually I hope to get down to 12-18mg but in the meantime I figure that it's more important to stay off analogs/cigarettes. I'm closing in on 16 months as a non-smoker, so the strategy is working for me. If I had started at 18mg, I don't think it would have worked for me. (From my first vape, I never smoked again.) Good luck!
