No offense, jayw, but I don't think that upping the nic level is the right thing. When I quit analogs for vapes, I thought the same thing and ordered juices at 24mg nic strength. I found that with the new found freedom of being able to smoke in the house, at the PC, watching TV, in the car, I was vaping a lot more than I anticipated. I was starting to feel the ill effects of too much nicotine and didn't like it. I started to hunt down different juices that would give me the 'taste and functionality' fulfillment as much or more than the higher nicotine. I found some natural tobacco juices that kind of trick the brain into thinking that you are satisfying the crave because they are tobacco extracts and are closer to what your body and brain were used to. After only 4 months since I started, I'm down to 11-12mg now, and am getting the same satisfaction as 24mg. Give them a try. This is my own opinion, and take it as you may.

I think we need more information on what you're using and what problems you are having before we can help.
But sometimes the hardest part is figuring out for yourself what it is that is keeping you on those last few cigarettes.

Here is a poll that shows how different this experience is for everyone...

One thing is for sure, if you can figure out what you need, we can help you find it.
There is a solution for every problem.

Tammymagoo, I was a heavy smoker (2 packs/day), and smoked for over 30 years. I have now quit analogs for over 3 months and been happily vaping ever since. The cheapo e-cigs that you can get in a gas station or mall are OK, but there are much better alternatives. The Volt E-cig by Smokeless Image is a great option and provides various nicotine strength levels to fit your needs.

I have decreased from being a pack and half day to 5-10 analogs a day which is an improvement but for health reasons I need to give up the analogs completely. What has worked for others?

To finally eliminate the strong craving for cigarettes I had when I first started vaping I started off each morning with HIGH nicotine juices and I would even vape some 24 mg with WTA in it on occasion.

Mornings were the worst for me but that only lasted 2 or 3 weeks.

Try some of this stuff at 24 Mg in the morning when you would normally have your first cigarette. It helped me. - Whole Tobacco Alkaloid WTA Eliquid Ejuice

So Calif
55 year smoker, the last 20 years of it at 2 cartons a week.

I liked smoking, I love vaping. I feel better, have more lung capacity and am never sick. I did intend to quit and did research before I bought my first gear. For me it wasn't the health thing it was the taxes. I got fed up paying the ever increasing tobacco taxes. I have never cared for the idea of 'sin' taxes. I bought my first juice at 16mg and it was too much so I stepped it down to 12 by buying some at a lower level and mixing them. I vaped as much as I needed to to stay off the edge.

I'm vaping at 4mg nic now and there it will stay. The current research reports of nic and humans is that some in the system is a good thing for alzheimers patients, helps prevent Parkinson's disease, helps me focus, etc. I do not feel the need to be nic free after the reading I've done recently.

It does take awhile to get over the other things they add to stinkies to keep you coming back. MAOI's come to mind. This too shall pass. Just keep on vaping, vape a higher nic if you need to part of the day. It will all come out ok if you just keep on trying, JMHO.

Here are my thoughts for what they're worth:
WTA: I tried WTA from Aroma Ejuice. I don't know if it helped, but I really like two of their flavors (Honey Tobacco and P38), so I use them a lot.
Flavors: Have a variety. You'll definitely want to switch them out.
Strength: I've used 18 mg mostly, but have 24 for those times when I need an extra kick or sometimes at work for "cigarette breaks". I found that using 24 mg for a break length of time gives me a head rush by the end of it.
Time it took me to quit: I vaped and smoked at the same time for about six months. The first three months were with a cheap setup, and the last three were with a KGO.
What made me quit: I eventually just got tired of buying cigarettes, so when I got down to my second to last pack, I timed it so I smoked that last cigarette of that pack before going to bed. I put the last unopened pack in my car's glove box as a "safety net", and there it remains. That was 6 days ago... :)
All in all, I'd say since then it's been pretty easy, aside from the 20 times a day thinking "time for a cigarette - oh, no it's not"...

Its simple, you are not ready to quit. Ecigs are no magic bullet. Like all smokers you have to make the sacrifices and just quit. Its not painless.
While this may be true for some people, it is certainly not true for everyone.
There are a lot of vapers that refer to themselves as "accidental quitters" because it was easy, and they weren't even trying.

So my advice is always to concentrate on figuring out what is preventing you from switching completely.
And then ask for help in addressing those issues.

Because for many people, it is simply a matter of finding the right combination that makes it easy.
Once you get to the point where you prefer your vaping setup to smoking, it's pretty much downhill from there.

Just do it. It doesn't have to be completely easy. What jayw said about getting rid of the cigarettes is what you have to do if there are health issues. Just quit and have the e-cigs to make it easier.

For me the problem was my morning cigarettes. I had half a cigarette at those times for a couple days. After that I got some 18mg (11mg was my normal) and took a few puffs in the morning. After I stopped having problems with that I went to the 11mg all the time. When I wanted a cigarette I vaped like I was hotboxing until the desire went away. But in my self-employed work at home situation I can do that.
My roomate works so he's starting with 18mg because he has to fit his fixes into a schedule.

If it's tobacco flavor you're after I suggest Johnson Creek Silverthorn. 11mg tasted just like Turkish tobacco out of my eGo-C and I took a puff off my roommate's Vea at 18mg and it tasted and felt just like a cigarette.

When I first tried it 3 years ago high nicotine (36mg and 24mg) did NOT help me at all. If you go that route I suggest you also get some 0mg in case it's too high and you have to cut it down.

I agree with DC2, you need to give information about you so the suggestions can be more about what you need rather than "ifs".

Give it some time Tammy. Although there are some that pick up an e-cig and immediately stop smoking, far more of us are like you. I started vaping and immediately dropped to 5 or less per day..... then I started vaping more and realized I was smoking maybe 5 a week. It just naturally happened for me as I found more and more juices I liked, and I began to trust that vaping was giving me what I need. Remember that absorption is different with an e-cig because it's vapor not air. It takes me 15 minutes to feel the same satisfaction I would from a 6 minute cigarette. When you're craving a cig, vape for 15 minutes and see if you still want one. Training myself to do that is what finally worked for me.

I think if ur down to 5 a day that is GREAT !!!! i quit twice on the patch, then patch only to return a few months later. i never tried an ecig ........ but from reading other experiences i think if u give it time it will happen. A complete guess on my part and more experienced ppl will know better ... but maybe switch ur analogs to ultra lights (i hate ultra lights or any brand u dont like) and ur vapin to some thing strong in nicotine ... ur mind will associate the vaper to nicotine and u will lose interest in analogs .... Again GREAT Job !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have them and am vaping them. Yes they get my rave review. Too bad that more juicers aren't going in that direction right now, but more will follow. WTA is well worth trying.

Edit: I guess I should explain WTA. Whole Tobacco Alkaloids. This extract method brings all of the 'good' things that analogs contain to a juice. I'm no chemist, so can't go into detail here. There are threads out there dedicated to WTA with better explanations. One WTA vendor out there is Aroma eJuice. Good stuff. Slightly more expensive, but worth it.

From What Ive read WTA contains carcinogens from tobacco as its not just nicotine but has other stuff from tobacco in it. For me that defeats the propose of vaping! I personally would not recommend this form of Liquid nor would I touch it with a 10ft pole!

Where did you read that?

WTA juice contains other tobacco alkaloids besides nicotine.
Those alkaloids are not carcinogens.

Here is suggestion that my doctor tells her patients that want to quit smoking and try vaping instead of all the NRT's that are out there. Since you are smoking 8 cigs, do that for a week. The following week, smoke 7 for the whole week. Keep eliminating one cig a week until you're done with them. This will help with the withdrawal that we all suffer from when we first quit. There is more of an addiction to smoking than just with nicotine. Our bodies have grown accustomed to all the other crap as well and that's where doing this method will help...steadily easing back on the cigs.

Ya right, it does not work that way for most. Your saying to a guy who smoked for 20 years "its the same as smoking" LOL.
Its the same as smoking just that you now have to find a ecig you like then spend time and money finding a flavor you like with a nic level you want. Then push a button to inhale and hope the battery is charged. Its not the same as just buying a pack of smokes and a lighter and burning one.
ECF need to remember how hard it is to quit
