Hi Poom,
You've definitely found the right place for advice, the guys and gals on here are super helpful. Probably best to give them a bit more info on what you are looking for, what is most important to you? Battery Life, looks, convenience, and what kind of money you are considering spending and they will have more to go on.

Welcome to the forum and have fun.

Oooh, tough question, but undoubtedly have you tried Don's guide to e-cigarettes?

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html

Its an excellent place to start. My personal preference would be to get a liquid fed box mod but that's me, the REO specifically. However, I've used KR808Ds, 510s, P18s, a Buzz and all have significant advantages. If you are just starting off I don't think there is anything wrong with a cheap $20 box mod or an eGo (or 808D equivalent). What are you looking for?

I just bought one that I discovered was pretty poorly rated. I think I am going to return it under their 30 day return policy. It has however cut me from about a pack and half a day to 2 or 3 cigarettes a day! So I have studied and now have a better one ordered (I believe). So the poor quality one I bought may be the best thing I ever did just to learn something about it and convince me that this may be my best option to eliminate cigs.

There are a lot of reviews on youtube that helped me learn a lot. Good luck!

For the record: Ego-T :)
edit*ahhh that's the one I was looking for - bookmarked it! Thanks Infernal2, still learning. :)

I love my ego-t as well. Great battery, tanks are very convenient. Takes some cleaning, and thicker juices don't work too well though. Some people have had leaking issues, but no problems on mine.

From my EVO to your eyeballs!

I was recently new and I can relate, so many choices, so much information to digest. I am one of those people who has to try everything for myself too, so it has become a very expensive hobby. I'll share just a bit of what I've discovered:

For e-cigs that are about the size of a normal cigarette, I would go with either the 510 or the KR808-d.

joye 510 .. You can get a 2 or 3 piece of this model. 2 piece has just the battery and a cartomizer, (atomizer and cartridge in one) and the 3 piece has a battery, an atomizer and a cartridge. Excellent starter kit, but make you sure you get one with 2 batteries, preferably manual batteries. The battery life is short, maybe 2 hours, but it produces massive vapor, good throat hit, and good taste. It is also the most widely used and easiest to get discount parts for. Both cartridges and cartomizers can be refilled pretty easily.

KR808-d - a little longer battery life than the 510, maybe 3-4 hours. This is a 2 piece design, a battery and a cartomizer. There are a lot of prefilled cartomizers for this model, if you aren't into filling your own, you can surely find a flavored carto that you will like. However, you can buy blanks and fill your own as well. With an addition of a 901 atomizer and cartridges, you can turn this into a 3 piece model, the 901 is compatible with the kr808-d. Again, I recommend the manual batteries, you seem to get a better draw from them .. auto batteries have a cut off time, you are done drawing when they decide you are.

Other smaller kits, like 901, 801, 4075, 4082 are ok, but they leave a lot to be desired when compared to the 510 or the kr808-d. Less battery life, less available parts, less vapor, taste, etc.

Now, if you were a heavy smoker, you might want to consider a bigger battery model .. like the Ego or the Riva 510. Both have longer battery life and other added features. But they do not look like cigarettes, they are bigger, bulkier. But honestly, for the beginner, I really think that a 510 or 808d kit will be your best bet. Once you have used them for a while, you can decide if you need more, bigger, better.

Some of the great vendors that have good prices on the 510 or kr808d :

cignot - 510 (about $35.00)
Myvaporstore - kr808d (about $33.00)

There are many other vendors that offer great deals and/or have coupon codes. You can check the supplier forum for the latest offers. That is here: E Cigarette Suppliers Forum

Welcome and good luck!

I have been vaping for a little over two months now and first bought a ego and have now moved to to the ego-T which I like You just fill up the tank and go. The battery which is 650 amp lets you vape for about six hours before recharging There is a 1100 amp battery that you can get that will let you vape for around 12 hours before a recharge I have had no issues with mine at all Go check out Cignot. Vicki sell top notch stuff and she is great about answering any questions or issues you might have.

My favorite recommendation is an eGo/Riva starter kit, a box of Boge cartomizers and a drip tip. You get good battery life, you get several options on different ways to vape, you get a battery that has a gazillion available attachments if you want to try more, and you don't break the bank. The only thing you don't get is something that resembles a cigarette. You get over that particular fixation in a hurry.

Hey poom,

I am very new to ecigs myself and I know how hard it is to choose from such a wide variety of products! lol

I would say it really depends on how much you smoke... I decided to get the Ego because most people here recommended as a great option saying that charging all the time sucks. It IS great, I won't lie... especially because I was not a heavy-heavy smoker (nor a heavy-champ vaper lol) so 1 ego batt can last me for a couple of days :D.

I also have the mini maxx fusion batt from bloog planet and that one lasts me for almost a whole day so you can see that I don't 'chain vape.' By the time I need to recharge it, I'm already at home so it is all good and I have the egos too. Just make sure you have at least 2 batts! And stay away from short-life batts.

In the end, it depends on what kind of ecig you're looking for and your analog smoking habits more than what people would recommend it to you. In this forum, they will always give you great tips, but it all comes down to personal choices :D.

Cheers!

Hey poom - just a few weeks ago I asked the same question, and I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of info I had to wade through. Like others have suggested above, I started with the 510 from Cignot. Great performer, but I soon discovered it had too short a battery life for my vaping habit. So a couple of days later I ordered 2 eGo 1000 mAh batteries (in a kit from Cignot), and a passthrough. This proved to be a much better choice than the 510. I wouldn't focus on whether or not it looks like a regular cig - 5 min after you start vaping, you won't care.
