So, I have been vaping for a few weeks now. The one thing that is driving me crazy is finding a juice that I like. I know that it is purely subjective but I could really use some ideas.

Here is what I know based on what I have tried on my ego 510 with dripping and clearomizers.

Sweet Juices - fruits are ok. I like them. But they don't rock my socks. I have tried peach, watermelon, mixes, etc. from ejuicemonkeys (my first juices), Copper Creek, NLV and darth vape.

"hot juices" - I tried a few of the ones that seam popular, Bounty Hunter (NLV) and Cooper Creek House Blend. These are interesting, but they leave me flat with a lack of flavor.

Now, the one that I like so far is the NLV Gold. It's more tobacco, has a richer flavor and I really like it. Problem is it is so hard to get! I ordered a 10ml to try it and I have been dripping it. I am sure it would be better in the clearomizer. But NLV is holding orders and is apparently weeks behind in shipping. So even when I can order some it may be weeks to get it.

I have eyed BWB, Highbrow, Kickbass, and especially Mountain Oak tobacco lines. Maybe a 555 or RY4? There are so many choices I don't know where to start. I have over a dozen bottles now....

So, whats a newbie vapor to do? I would appreciate any ideas.

EDIT: I should have added that I have a few alcohol based flavors that I really like, one has vodka and another has rum. They just don't have any kick.

When a first started vaping I went for the tobacco and some fruit flavors, but they just didn't do it for me.
I needed more 'hit' or 'bite' to help me get over the throat hit of cigs.

Menthol helped, but to me it just tasted 'Meh.'

I found very strong cinnamon flavor worked well for me.
I use Atomic Blast from Indy Vapor Shop almost exclusively, but I've heard very good things about Atomic Cinnacide from Tasty Vapors. I just ordered from them and am letting it steep.

Looking forward to trying it!

Just some thoughts you may want to consider...

The most important thing a newbie vaper can do is recognize his/her taste buds are his/her own, and that following blindly behind the tastes of anyone else is both (A) expensive and (B) pointless.

Buy a lot of 3ml samplers, when/where you can find them. 5ml tops. There's no shortcut to finding your own way.

Hi there and welcome. I started with tobacco flavors and quickly moved away (never found one that really tasted like I expected and realized there were a ton of great other flavors). I still keep one bottle of IKV RY4 Gold (for the occasional tobacco/sweet craving), a bunch of different fruit flavors (not an all day vape for me), but have really settled in with the coffee/caramel type flavors. Some of my favorites:

BWB: Malty Toffee (really tasty, occasionally add a splash of green apple)
Juicy Vapor: After Dinner D'Lite, Caramel Cappuccino, Caramel Macchiato (all yummy)

Fruity/Funky
ECBlend: Dragon's Blood, Dragon's Tears,
Juicy Vapor: Tiger's Blood, AB-Negative, Ecto Plasma, Chocalate Covered Bananas

The list is endless, best thing to do is order little bottles (3-5ml) to try to find some flavors you like. Best of luck, we're all on the quest :)

Welcome. I was lucky not to have that hard a time finding my "all day" or "main vape." But things do change. I'm one of the folks at ECF that likes dekang blends. I've never tried anything but their "tobacco" line. My main vape used to be USA-MIX which I guess is supposed to be like Marlboro because it used to be called "Cowboy/Red" or something. Nowadays I vape DK-TAB exclusively with an occasional RY4 thrown in it, which both have a bit of what I call "sweetness" to them but others might call it "nuttiness", etc.

Good luck!

This is what I have been doing. I read up on reviews of multiple flavors by one company and see if there is a pattern to the pros/cons, regardless of flavor. When reading other people's opinions on flavors i try to just listen for key descriptions I'll like or hate. Like if 5 fruit flavors taste perfumey or fake, I wont order from them. I also go by "vapor production" ratings more than actual flavor reviews because that's something I need more than a throat hit and I figure if a company is using something good as the base then the flavors are all I have to weed through.

A lot of people seem to like Rawr Vapors on here that's my next order.

The only company so far Ive ordered from repeatedly is Fuzion. Its new and small without a vast variety, mostly fruity ones but I found 4 that I vape all the time.

I agree, PoliticallyIncorrect. So in my first post I did not explain myself very well. My problem is where to start looking. I have tried sweet flavors and find, at best, they are OK to me. Although my wife likes them. With so many choices and vendors it is down right confusing. Since I don't know anyone else who vapes (besides my wife) am I learning on my own. I do like the idea of sample packs so I may have to try that route.

The other thing that drives me nuts about vaping is the steeping. I totally understand why but it means that I if order something to try I need to wait a few weeks to even give it a go. And when I don't have anything I like that is a very long time.

Is it usual to spend months trying to find something (e.g., am I being too impatient)? My one concern with the sample packs is the time it would take to get the first one(s) and let the steep. When I find one that I like it will be several weeks to get another larger bottle and let it steep.

So what I am trying to figure out is some suggestions of some not sweet juices. Tobacco base is the first that came to my mind, drink flavored (coffee, vodka, rum, etc.) are in the same genre.

I think the idea of spending months trying to find something I do like is frustrating me. Maybe I just have to dig in and deal with it. *think*

Cinnamon flavor is one that I had not thought of. I may just try that :)

Good advice, Milkshakes (love that handle). I need to dig some more.

Your best bet is to buy a lot of 3ml samplers from a few of the popular vendors that have good followings here on the boards. Judging on what you've said, BWB or Highbrow might be good options for you to try. Finding what you like is pretty much trial and error though. Also realize that a few months down the road, it's very possible your tastes will change again (or you'll just get bored with what you're vaping), and you'll have to find something new you like! Lol! When I started vaping I found I really only liked bakery flavors from one vendor. Now a few months down the road, probably 75% of what I vape are fruit flavors from Rawr.

The other thing that drives me nuts about vaping is the steeping. I totally understand why but it means that I if order something to try I need to wait a few weeks to even give it a go. And when I don't have anything I like that is a very long time.

The thing about steeping is that it deepens flavor, doesn't fundamentally change it. If you like a flavor fresh from the mailbox, give it a week or two and you'll like it even more. If you didn't like it, your dislike will flower into full-blown hate.

Imported juices (Dekang and the like) don't require steeping; they've already sat in warehouses, cooked aboard container ships and long-haul trucks for weeks or months before reaching the vendors.

3ml samplers sold by domestic, mix-to-order vendors aren't mixed-to-order; there's no telling how long they've sat on a shelf waiting for you to claim them, but the odds on it being an adequate steeping time is in your favor.

So what I am trying to figure out is some suggestions of some not sweet juices. Tobacco base is the first that came to my mind, drink flavored (coffee, vodka, rum, etc.) are in the same genre.

The first thing that comes to mind is FSUSA's 3ml samplers @ $2.25 each. They have an enormous selection of flavors, broken into convenient categories: e-Juices :: 3ml Sampler Size Juices :: Age verification - Catalog

Johnson Creek is well regarded, and sells 10-flavor sampler packs: Original Smoke Juice™ - Original Sample Pack

Yes you do, to a degree. I am like 1 week in and have only found one flavor I can actually vape. It is a mint flavor called "Kitty Kisses" from Dark City Vapor. Girly name, awesome flavor :p Try the mint range (different from menthol) for a cold, refreshing vape. The one I am using is a creamy spearmint iirc. And mint seem to translate well to vaping.

I know you don't want sweet but I suggest if you havent already to try simple sweet juices like Blueberry or Bananna - flavors that you have sampled before in candies or gum. But I am kinda the same way...not sure I wanna be tasting sweet candy everytime I vape. They are nice for sampling or showing other people, but not everyday for me.

Thanks everyone! This has been quite helpful.

Took your (and Milkeshake's advice and took the plunge -- ordered 10 5ml samples from ECBlends (including some with Cinnamon). I ordered from them since I could find a wide range of different flavors to try. I thought the variety approach would give me a broad range of things I might like....

I plan on ordering one more sample set today from someone else. Debating between Kick Bass, Vermillion, Mountain Oak -- and now maybe Johnson Creek. All these are highly regarded from what I can tell.

Good point, I had not thought of it that way. On my first order of juices some took a week to have any detectable flavor. They did develop over time.

Well...my husband smoked for YEARS...and he likes things with cinnamon...to give him a "throat hit." His favorites are Atomic Menthol, Siberian Fireball, Hawaiian Punch, Orange Cremesicle, and Apple Cherry. The first two, he doesn't mix...the other flavors, he adds cinnamon to. Hope this helps!
