Hi all! Hoping to get some ideas of where to start. I have been vaping for over a year, and I think it's time to upgrade. ((Please bare with me - new to ECF and new to the idea of upgrading))

I have 4 eGo variable batteries now, which haven't failed me, however, since upgrading to my Pyrex carto, they die within 2 hours and that is getting old. I have my batteries turned to 4 ohms? watts? Volts? Idk really. The batteries run from 3.2 to 4.8. I have 2 shorter and 2 longer variables. But I digress...

I would like to upgrade to a better battery (PV??) I have checked out some threads, YouTube videos, etc. planning on hitting the local shop to talk to a few of the guys, but would value your opinion.

What I would like:
- something easy! I do not understand in the slightest bit the ohms and watts and volts or whatever
- something likely on the smaller end (shorter than my long 1000 eGo) I'd like it to fit in my wristlet
- obviously, I am female, so something not terrifyingly industrial looking (nor looking like a pleasure device lol)
- color isn't too important, however if there was a sweet purple one, I wouldn't be against it
- price wise, under $100 since this is my first step up. Under $60 or so would be best since money isn't flying down from the sky but I'm willing to spend more
- I have no idea if they all have AA type batteries or can recharge on a USB charger, I am open to either

I can't think of any models that I've seen that stick out in my minds, however, I remember seeing a telescoping doohickey that allows for different size batteries...maybe that is the place to start??

*sigh* help! And thank you in advance!!!! Obviously I have a ton to learn! Lol

Hi

Something changed when you switched to your pyrex carto tank. Chances are it's the resistance of the cartos you are using in it and I'm betting they are low resistance cartos. That would signifricantly shorten the run time on eGo type batteries. Did you buy this stuff on line? If you did can you provide any links? Specifically for the cartos you are using in your tank.

If sounds like you may be a little lost when it comes to style options. You may want to take a look here for a couple few hours. => http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/323314-show-us-your-girly-pretty-decorated-pink.html There will be pictures. Lot's of pictures.

And may I add, my charger may be dying which is why my batteries haven't been lasting. That is def a possibility!

Maybe not. One thing that can mess with charging eGo batteries is any liquid on the connectors. Give both the battery connector and the charger end a good cleaning with a dry Q-tip to make sure there is no liquid in there.

I actually went to a local store for the new Cato tank. I know it's a Smok and the carto has flattened edges instead of being completely round. It almost locks the tank from rotating around the carto. I don't know anything about resistance or anything like that. Thanks for the link, I'll have to check them out!

I have been sure to always check the contacts for any leaked juice...burned through a few chargers at the beginning.

Hope the carto info helps in what I could have. Lol

Thanks!!

The iTaste vv 3 is a nice mod and it's pretty and sleek. It has an 800mAh battery and is pass-through capable which is very nice in that you can plug it in and vape without losing a charge. It has many features that you can use if you wish or leave them alone and vape. It is not hard to learn and there are plenty of youtube videos showing how and you can always search here or ask questions. I do have this particular mod and it is quite nice and does sound like something you'r describing. Take a peek at it. Good Luck and Happy Vaping! :vapor:

So...went to the local shop, and was told I may like the SID, but there weren't any in stock. I bought the eVic and tried it all yesterday and last night.

Over all its a fantastic piece, however, much too large and too much to it for what I need/want. So I returned it.

Friday he should have in a mechanical mod. It's telescoping and can take multiple sizes for batteries...I believe that may be the answer after seeing his and trying my carto on it!!

Can't wait until Friday!!!

Mechanical mods are smaller and simpler than VV apv's, but just know that there is no built-in voltage regulation or good safety features. To get those things, you need to add a kick or at least a fuse. Whatever the battery voltage is is what you get, so it will start out at 4.1-4.2 V and slowly drop until you recharge it. Overdischarging can hurt the battery, so you'll need to keep an eye on the voltage with a multimeter until you get used to judging by vape intensity.

IMO you should look at different VV/VW apv's, take some time to learn the menu system they have, and accept a slightly bigger device. Your budget is high enough that you should be able to get a pretty decent one.

My only problems its most VV/VW apvs is I am a petite chick and they are huge. I mean they are longer than my forearm with a carto on it. I'd like to keep the whole deal under 6 or 7 inches so I don't look ridiculous.

I'm good with the multimeter, have one laying around the house already.

In your travels, have you found anything that is short/squatty like I've described? Im okay with something that is as big around as a silver dollar, but I want to keep a 510 connection. I'm indifferent regarding rechargeable batteries vs the eGo style charger. I always vape between 3.7 and 4.2 volts.

Thanks!!

Almost all mods use 18XXX batteries, so they are 18 mm wide and the last 3 digits are for the length (example, 18650 is 65 mm long. 18500 is 50 mm long, etc). In order to get more capacity than your 1100 mAh Egos, you'd need an 18650 (typically around 2000-2500 mAh except some super high amperage versions, which are less). I think there are 26XXX mods out there, but I don't know of any in particular. Something to keep in mind, though, is that you can use a smaller battery like a 18350 or 18500 and keep 2 or 3 fully charged spares with you and just swap it out when the one in your mod starts getting low. You should see if your local vape store has any VV mods in 18350 mode, some of them are pretty compact.

If you do go with a mechanical, the bottom firing types will be the shortest. It just depends on if this button location will be comfortable for you. I definitely recommend using a kick if you decide to go with a mechanical. This is a pretty good deal on on a kick: Sigelei Kick Clone . As for the mod itself, you'll have to pick out a few that you think look good and list them here, then you should get some opinions on what is good or not in terms of reliability. This is a decent reference for finding good prices on mods: PennyVaper.com

I will say that 2 hours from a 1100 mAh Ego sounds very short. How long have you been using them? Unless you are using very low resistance cartos and chain vaping constantly, the batteries may be worn out or the charger is not working properly.

Thanks! That is a lot of great info.

I know that the telescoping mod that the store has coming in is a k100 or k1000 which has the bottom plunger.

These batteries are about a year old. I have 2 shorter and 2 longer (eGo 1000 I think)

I was also thinking that maybe the SID with a 18350 would be great but then worry that the battery life would be less than that of my eGo.

Am I correct that the kick or a fuse would help prevent the battery from overheating or stop allowing me to fire it due to a short?

Yes, but if I can ask...what is it you have against the Itaste VV? It fits all your criteria...

Nothing against the Itaste VV. I have heard that it is a great battery. My only problem is that I want something short. I mean, short short.

I have a feeling that I will have to go to a box mod, or go with something that takes a 18350 battery as sacrifice the length that it will last.

From what it looks like, the Itaste VV is about the same size as my eGo batteries.

That is the only reason that I am leaning toward a mechanical mod...I also seem to stick with 3.7 to 4.2 v when vaping, so I am not sure that I would use the VV part of the battery....

Mechanical mod like a nemesis, chi you or caravela clone is less than six inches. Your atomizer may add an inch or so. If you get the right cartomizer or head the unregulated voltage won't be an issue until the battery gets low. You should look at the mini nova or a short IBTanked unit. I've used my 2.0ohm vivi nova bdc tank and iclear 30 tank on my nemesis mod with no issues. Hits just as well on my regulated variable wattage itaste 134.

An 18650 IMR battery will last a lot longer than what you're using now, though you can use an 18350 and shrink the mod even more.
