Hey, all y'all DIYers. :) So I've tried delving into this sub-forum for clues, and feel there is too much to sift through for what I hope are a few simple answers. I want to make a simple lemonade.

Do I just order some lemonade flavor? From whom? Do I need to order "sour" or "tart", or is that part of the flavor already? How about sweetness?

I'm not super clear on the whys wherefores of water solubility. What does it take to use an oil based flavoring?

Can I just use concentrate from the grocery store baking aisle (not necessarily Lemon; but in general)? Would, for example, an orange concentrate (alcohol based) from the G.store kill my gaskets/insulators?

Can I just add some concentrated lemon juice to my unflavored? (like, in the quart sized bottle . . . . "RealLemon")

Noob me, please. :p

addit: I've already got unflavored 33%PG/66%VG @ 33% nic. (I'm mixing 2 parts VG with 1 part 100mg in PG from MFS)

I like Flavor West Lemonade mixed with a bit of FlavourArt Lemon Sicily to bump it up. The sweetener I use mostly is TFA Sweetener. I can't really help you with percentages, I use those with strawberry and cakes and such. I might try a 10% FW with 2% FA and adjust from there. As far as oils go...no go. It's best to keep with the water solubles.
For me the Lemon Sicily is plenty tart enough but I do use Lorann Tart & Sour on occasion. It's really potent. 1 or 2 drops in 10ml makes a huge difference.

I don't know about just using lemon juice. I've used a few drops in a recipe but not by itself.

Thanks for the info. I tasted DeejStuff blackberry lemonade and it had a crayon taste to it, which I later discovered was the lemon flavor they use. Nothing against them, as some of their juices are fantastic, but it had me thinking I could do better. Would you say yours has any weird after taste like most lemons I've tried? It sounds fantastic, but I'm hesitant after failing so hard in the lemon department.

Aheadatime, it doesn't to me, I know what you're talking about. Either waxy or so perfumey it gags. Too much lemon sicily could go there I think. If you haven't tried VZSC Blackberry for your mix, check it out. It's so good. I haven't tried HS Lemon yet, it's on my list.

I just ordered the VZ-SC Blackberry as well as a couple of others.

I have the blackberry and first thing I thought of when I opened the bottle was smuckers jam. Its a great flavor, and I was even considering making a PB&J sandwich juice with it. What's most important is the lemon/lemonade though, so I'm glad you shared your recipe. I'll order those ingredients and give it a whirl.

The TFA (safe) Lemon is okay to me, I mix a little with most fruit flavors. A little candy-like and it is not sour. Needs citric and/or a little hit of malic for that. There is an Italian Lemon Cello (a soda drink) I get at World Market that tastes great, but haven't been able to really duplicate it in an e-juice. I hear the Champagne flavor may lend a bit of a fizz-like quality, but I suspect it is more the acid in it if anything that's responsible for the fizz feeling. Lemon juice seems to work best as a pH adjuster and less well as a flavoring agent or sourer. The Myer lemons seem less acidic, while some little pulpy lemons seem to be like battery acid.

How about making lemonade from base lemon and sweetener? I have both TFA Lemon as well as VZ SC Lemon. Haven't tried it yet, but I was just gonna add some sucralose and call it lemonade rather than buying lemonade flavor. Has anyone tried that or advise me against it? Once my cherry gets here (VZ SC) I plan to make a cherry lemonade
