Hi. I've just started Clapton as it had a hype about it having great FLAVOUR but don't know why it seems muted on my velocity rda.

I'm currently using 26x32ga kanthal 5 wraps amounting to 0.45 ohms at 70 watts but muted Flavour with Scottish wick or normal wick.

My airflow is closed for the indirect and a quarter open for the cyclops one. Am I doing something wrong as my previous build of 22 ga kanthal seemed to have better taste ...

By right you should do fine with 35W, although a brief run on steam engine shows me roughly 6 wraps on 3mm diameter. Try placing the coil as far as possible away from the post(closer to air hole), with them sitting vertically right in the middle of the 2 set screws on each post.

Another possiblility would be you'd need to buff up more cotton in between the coils(clapton prefers tighter cotton) but fluffy at the end.

Someone here shared this and it worked. Try placing the coil higher than the air hole, can start with half a coil higher. Also place the coil as near as to the air hole as possible like WarA mentioned.

It made a very significant difference.

Tried a Clapron once...the one that came prefitted in the TFV3 Mini, horrible spitty thing, juice in the mouth, reminded me of my most hated tank - the Subtank Mini. Ripped it out, put a single 3mm SS 0.6 coil in there in temp mode and got a waaaaaaaaaaaaay better vape than the Clapton, using 10 less watts (my temp control setup only uses about 26w to reach my temp preset - 210c) as well lol. Simple single coils, its what people used to use before the coil porn people came along....and they work far more efficiently and better.

I pretty much called the Clapton hype after testing it. People bang on about it, probably because it looks cool, and quote "more surface area, capilliary action on juice, more vapor and flavour", but as i saw in my use, maybe there is more surface area, but unless youre going to use what i consider personally ridiculous watts, that extra juice is just going to end up getting spat on the walls of the chimney and if youre unlucky, like i was, up the drip tip...

As ive said before, id rather listen to Clapton that build or use one....
