Hi all,

I just made my first batch of DIY juice. I followed the calculator and used the correct amounts, but the mix didn't taste good and smells weird when vaping. I thought it was the flavor concentration, so I went back to the calculator and tweaked it so it will have a higher concentration. This alas did not fix my problem.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
JoeCran

Joe, without know what you specifically used and what quantities, I can only guess.

My first guess would send you to one of my blogs, but you do not have enough posts for ECF to allow you to see the blogs. So, without all the background and indicators in said blog, I'm guessing you went the wrong way. Zigged when you should have zagged, as it were.

My mix was a fruit blend made with aprox. the following ingredients.( aprox. because of trying to fix it by adding more to increase flavor via the calculator)

8.4 ml of 48mg Nic juice (from DIY eJuice) 31% of total liquid
3.6 ml of PG (from DIY eJuice) 14% of total liquid
6.0 ml of VG (from DIY eJuice) 22% of total liquid
9 ml of Strawberry-Kiwi flavoring from LorAnn oils 33% of total liquid

OK a 15mg juice at 89/11 PG/VG with 33% total flavoring of LA's Strawberry Kiwi.

I've got some good news and some bad news.

Good thing is I doubt it needs to steep to get any better. Bad news is it is pretty bad already and steeping will probably make it worse.

Good news is that 30% with LA flavorings is not outrageous. Bad news is that I have no idea if the Strawberry Kiwi is one of those that needs a high level of flavoring or if it does better at a lower percentage.

I'll reword one section of my Flavoring Level blog. If it smells good in the bottle, but tastes bad as vape, you probably have too much flavoring. But, I'm still guessing here because I've not worked with that specific flavor. Hopefully someone who has will chime in.

Its a loss anyway so what I would do is take half what you've mixed and put it in an equal amount of new pg/vg base. It will lower the nic but at least you'll know and you can always add more nic and tweak flavor with a little more of your "bad" mix then if its good or leave it and use it as an evening low-nic vape.
