Now that you have the whole end piece off of the glass, I would fill it with PB Blaster or WD 40 and let it side a few hours. Just be sure to thoroughly clean both parts afterwards with soap and water. Water alone doesn't clean those well as they are designed to repel water. The oring at the base threads acts like a nylock nut and jambs in the threads if it is over tightended. PB or WD will not hurt the o-ring but it might need to be replaced if it's chewed up.

Hi guys,

I am having trouble removing the base plate of the ProTank from the part that is engraved with the ProTank logo on it.
Think i overtightened it when i placed it on my ego battery. Anybody has a clue on how i can take it apart ? =/

Cheers!

My remedy is simple, fill a glass of hot water and let your PT sit for abt a min or 2

Remove it and uses 2 cloth and start turning

Came off as smooth as butter

gave the hot water another shot together with 2 cloth and it finally came apart!
only con is that my base is now ugly due to all the plier marks but its still usable.
thanks guys, really appreciate the help.

nways, since i already have this thread opened, just wanna ask another question.
i removed the wicks that came with the original head and replaced them with cotton and damn, its cloudy right now :p
just wondering if i were to get kanthal wires to build my own coils, is it safe to do so without having a resistance checker or anything that can check for short etc?

At least a device which can show u the coil ohm..

I rebuild my PT2 head using 32 gauge a1 kanthal wires

Nano coil, 8 wraps around a 18 gauge needle gets me around 2ohm..
ekowool coil, 4 wraps around a 2mm wick gets me around 1.6-1.8ohm..one more coil will get me around 2.2ohm..

You may also try using AWG30 coil 12 on 18G needle which give u 2ohm on 3.7 ~4.2 volt using cotton

Huge vapour

It has been daily outdoor use. You may consider a cheap L Rider transformer to check ohm level and also it has good air flow

NO. Never rebuild without at least checking with a ohm meter. It's plain dangerous if you have a short. The last thing we need in the red dot is to have someone blow his face off. Definitely not gonna help the rest of us.

It's even more important if you're using a mech mod. A short can EASILY cause your battery to over heat and vent. And yes, li-ion batteries are explosive. Just go to a local hardware store and grab the cheapest multimeter.

True, after rebuilding is best to check ohm and using batteries like AW IMR is the best.

When coiling for Genesis best to check ohm and use a drained AW battery

There are many info on coiling check the video first and learns some from there

Better be safe!

alright guys, seems like its not a good idea to build coils without anything to check the ohms with.
will stay away from rebuilding till i get my vv/vw which has that capability.

thanks!

there are some cheap multimeters from Qoo10 you can get and i have even seem a ohm meter specifically for ego style. just pop it in and if it reads properly, you dont have a short. Just started rebuilding awhile back too so i know the pains, especially from where you are. =)
