So my Sigelei 30w arrived today, and boy, do I feel like a noob. I got an Aspire Nautilus and an EHPro Kayfun Lite Plus V2 with it as we'll. so I build my first 5 coils and settle on a nice looking one that reads 2.1 ohms in both the ohm meter and the Sigelei. I fire it up at 15 watts and it tastes like burnt crap. This is Halo Tribeca juice btw. I'm using cotton wicking and it's now boiled because of the aftertaste. Tastes better now.

But I can't really vape above 10 watts without it tasting burnt. I've cleaned it out recoiled it and rewicked. New juice, a Mountain Dew flavor. Same thing, tastes burnt above 11 or so watts.

So I figure, I'm brand new to this coil building thing, I must suck. I pop on the Nautilus, filled with Tribeca and bam, same thing. Any wattage above 11 or so just tastes burnt. This is on a 1.8 ohm coil.

Please, what am I doing wrong here? I want to love this thing, but right now I'm starting to feel like I just wasted a bunch of money.

8-10 watts is about correct for coils in the 1.8-2.1Ω resistance range. Where your 30W/KF combo will shine is with a resistance of around 0.7Ω at 25-26 watts.

Although you've left out some useful information for the purposes of diagnostics... chances are, you're fitting the wick too tightly in the coil, and/or the cotton is too densely rolled. Either or both of these may cause a condition of poor juice retention at the coil... plus poor capillary action to the coil.

Assuming a 1.5-2mm ID coil, you start with a flat length of fairly loose cotton (not so dense that it's completely opaque)... about 1/16"-1/8" X 5/16"-3/8". Once rolled, the cotton wick should pull through with very little drag.

With a KF type atty, the wick needs to be cut to about 1" in length... moisten the wick with a bit of juice so it stays tucked in tight to the juice deck, prior to installing the lower chimney.
