It's for those people who current drip at 20 to 30 watts.

Now they can drip at 20 to 30 watts at various ohms they can experiment with. They can put more surface area in.

This is it for me.

My main dripper is a .7 but on OCCASION I bust out a .55 dual coil, so 30w tops is perfect for me.

I think some of the manufactures should have taken the walmart approach to building devices long ago... hire a china company to knock out a thousand or so aluminum boxes or tubes or whatever, have $10 each in the case (or whatever), build em over here and sell them for $99 or so and make $30 to $50 each and sell thousands of them instead of making $170 ea on a $250 mod and sell 200 of them... .......... I dunno, maybe I'm wrong?

You are wrong. Try putting a dna mod together. Then think about putting enough of them together to make a living as an independent business.

Even just ordering the parts to do this takes up way more time than you imagine.

My walmart statement wasn't intended for "Bill" making mods in his kitchen... I was talking about the Nexgens, Hanas, etc... The companies who are putting out large(ish) quantities..... I just personally think there is more profit in higher volume of sales even at lower per unit profit points.

If a company, a mod making company, has its design like a hana for example. They arent ordering a dozen switches from mouser.... they are ordering 10,000 of them direct from china.

But, in any event someone already has my idea and ran with it..... You can now order a fully assembled aluminum hana dna20 shipped to your door for $52 from fasttech.

Oh I'm talking about that too. Have you ever ordered parts on an ongoing basis directly from China? It's easier if you do order it from Mouser. And difference in price between a domestically sourced switch and China sourced switch is small in absolute money terms, so there is little effect on per-mod price.

BTW this is not speculation, I'm just letting you know that your understanding is woefully incomplete.

Offshore clones are not your "idea." They require an entirely different economy.

There's a reason western modders are all at a certain price point.

I do order stuff from China regularly FWIW. Not vape related though. .

Really it is about scale. NONE of these pre made DNA modders are set up to produce mass manufacturing style. Higher profit margins are required to make low production economically viable as a business.

And for fairly good reason. However make no mistake, a big part of the higher profit margins from mass manufacturing is leveraging overseas manufacturers. Building DNA mods is a labor intensive process and the only way to save that much on labor is to outsource to very low wage countries. But being labor intensive, outsourcing can also be a quality control nightmare.
