So, I have been vaping with the MT3/ego combo since April. Haven't touched an analog since. A friend of mine picked up a vamo and I loved the draw on it so I decided it was time to get a mod. Went with the KVD K-Max(bronze and green, looked like a sonic screwdriver, yes I'm a nerd).

Ok, there's the background. The problem that I am having is that I am not getting a great taste with the Max. I have been using the MT3 with 2.2 ohm coil and setting the K-max to 3.0 w to 4.5 w. Even at 3.0 i am finding that some of the hits are dry and burnt. I didn't notice this when I first started with the K-max(had if for about 2 months) but things just seem to taste burnt.

I have switch coils, ohms, different tanks, but in the end, they all taste a bit burnt. Is this a problem with the K-max or the tanks.

Also, I use the mt3 but is there a better tank out there that isn't a top coil. Had some bad experiences with the top coils. Any help, suggestions, or tips would be really helpful. thank you.

Maybe just a worn coil in the MT3? When they gunk up you have to draw longer and harder to get a decent vape, and that can cause burning issues. Or when you say you switched coils, are those with new ones?

BTW, it's KSD :) I have one, among others, and find it runs a bit hot. Moving a topper from my SVD to the KSD KMax, I have to set about 2 watts lower for the same vape.

Or maybe put it in VV mode, and starting low work up slowly.

The PT2 looks great on the KMax, and you can put T3S heads in, so you don't have to stock both... but the MT3S and T3S are both good performers as well. The ARO pyrex, looks very similar to the MT3, holds a tad more, and, well, it's pyrex, so no concerns about what you put in it. (Or course, the PT2 is also pyrex.)

Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have to pick up the PT2 to see if there is a difference. Good to hear that the KSD runs a bit hotter, seems to be what I am seeing as well.

Also, on mods, do you tighten the tank all the way down or just until you get contact? I found that tightening more lets in less air but I don't seem to be getting the burnt taste as much. Maybe it is just too much airflow. Oh well, I will keep messing with it. Thanks.

Probably won't see much difference between the MT3 and the PT2, although there might be slight air flow differences. Most bottom coil units will have a similar vape, unless you go for dual coil ones.

If too much air flow, yes, you might be running into a burnt taste, as you're drawing faster than the device can wick. Juice viscosity can have an effect on that as well, with the thicker juices ( higher % VG, dark juices are prone to that) wicking slower, so you have to moderate your draw.

But in general, bottom coils tend to wick better than the top coils, since gravity helps instead of being something that has to be overcome :)

I've been using eGo batteries and clearos for over a year now....I prefer Kanger products and use T3s and MT3s at 2.2 ohm. I also have a couple ProTanks, but don't use them much because they're too heavy and unbalance the rig....and I don't like the metal tip; it's too cold.

I just received the very same Kmax....gonna make the mod jump. I had to order my batteries and charger (18650's and eFest LUC) from another vendor so I'm waiting on them...should be a few days. I also ordered an Innokin iClear 30b to use with the Kmax.

Once I get everything in and setup, I'll report back here with tests of the T3s, MT3s, ProTank and iClear.....

I got a Kmax for Christmas and I noticed that I seem to get a better vape using ego connection tanks. I use Protanks on my Vamo and Vmax but have been using Protank minis and SmokTech ARO pyrex. I also noticed that the center pin appears to be spring loaded on the Kmax and tanks that use 510 connectors wobble a bit.
