Hello I saw a tv show and order the smokestik hendu and 5 high nicotine cartomizer. When it 1st came it tasted really bad, my throat hurt. I came here and figured out how to smoke it right.

Well I couldnt stand the taste so I tried the menthol that came with the starter kit, it wasnt bad. Order 5 menthol disposable catomizer. My 2nd menthol tasted really bad, but my 1st one didnt. I took it apart and one cloth tube was black/burnt and it had browish moisture drops inside. I think some of my cloth tubes burn to fast.

I really think this might work for me if I can figure out what Im doing wrong sometimes. These are disposable, you dont refill. I didnt do anything to it but screw it on the battery and take a drag. After reading a post on the sokestik forum, am I suppose to be washing the cotton stuff in it 1st? I didnt know not to inhale the 1st few drags. Am I dragging to hard, to long, to fast?
Please help thanks

I have never owned the SS, but I do own a 4081 (which is the type of model you have) so I may be able to help a little.

From what i have read on here by SS users - they love their carto's (cartomizer - you have a 2 piece model - a battery and a cartomizer) do not burn as easily when dry as a standard carto. But again, i have never tried them. But i do know they are made differently than a standard carto for sure, presumably better by everything I have read.

Also, you can refill the cartridges (opps, I meant cartomizers - a cartridge and a cartomizer are not the same things) ! You can refill them for about 25 cents each. Some people do not refill them as they don't want to mess with the liquid, most others simply do not know.

Also, it took me a few days to hit the ecig slowly enough as i tended to hit analogs (term used on here for real cigs) very hard.... slow, easy puffs is how you use that model, for sure.

Watch a Youtube video on "the condom method to refill a cartomizer".

Hope that helps some.

EDIT: Also, many people say that the SS pre-filled are the best pre-filled they have tried. Again, I have never tried them - but i have never tasted a pre-filled one that I like. You will find a difference of opinion on EVERY liquid or cartomizer you can buy. It all comes down to taste - and what you personally like - and do not like.

Well thanks I will try to take slow easy puffs. It says in the book that cartomizers are disposable and cannot be re-used, are you sure I can reuse mine? they are metal. If I can refill them, I guess I should find out about that. I have cut my analog use in half to one pack a day, just in the 12 days I have used it.
thanks

Also, if you ever buy more supplies from them, make sure you look up the discount code for ECF members. I believe you always get 20% off from their site as a member....

Yes, I am sure you can refill them. Probably 99% of people that use the SS throw them away when empty. I refill my 4081 cartomizers all the time. It takes maybe 5 seconds.

EDIT: Also, the cartomizer will not last forever however. Eventually the atomizer inside will burn out. But you can refill them many times, for sure.

All you do to refill that cartomizer is this:

1. Save one of the plastic end caps that come off a new carto.
2. Fill it about 1/2 with liquid.
3. Slowly slide the empty carto (thread end first) into it.
4. The liquid is forced into the cartomizer.
5. DONE!

This is referred to as the condom method...

Most people will say to leave them for maybe a day before using. That may be better but I puff them immediately all the time...

Also, you do not care for the taste of them. That is another reason to try liquid. My guess is after a while you will get used to the taste...and like it far more. Just a guess... but if not, then definitely try various liquids - until you do find something you like.

Your pre-filled carto is nothing more than a carto filled with liquid. There are 2 types of liquid PG and VG. Most, including me, prefer a blend of the two as they have different characteristics. I prefer a 70/30 PG/VG blend personally. I am not sure what SS puts in theirs, but it probably says on their site what it is.

There are some people that will only use VG. But you need to read up on all that stuff.

EDIT: I looked on their site, am not sure if they use a PG/VG blend or not. The site does discuss what PG is however, so almost certainly they use it. If they use straight PG or a blend, i don't know. The other issue is the actual ingredients created for various flavors. There are a million threads on here discussing liquids, ingredients and all that stuff. My guess is almost every manufacturers uses different ingredients for different flavors, but I don't pay much attention to all that stuff. I puff what I like.

You can buy blank 4081 cartomizers. That should tell you right there that they are re-fillable. otherwise those would have no value, lol. Not saying to refill yours. That is up to you. You may not wish to mess with liquid - your choice. But again, if you do not care for the taste, liquid is the option for you.

I will let others present their thoughts...heading to the store.

I dont smoke menthols, but like the taste of menthol smoke stiks. I just order 25 and they came out to 3.20 each, way cheaper than a pack of analogs, so I dont mind buying. I use both batteries to use up the high ones I got, (one with menthol, one without). They do sit overnight. Would this cause them to dry out and burn faster. The one I took apart had moisture, so I dont know, I think I just drag to hard. Thanks for all the information

I guess. However, a cartomizer is closer to .50 a pack, not a pack. Some sites claim 2 packs. Total hogwash. I use at least 7 a day, but i will admit i am a heavy vaper. But there are people on this that use 12 a day. Just sayin... I fill mine for 20 cents, even at 7 a day it is 1.40. Do as you prefer, but no chance of me doing that.

This is where I got mine from, they work great. Fill them and let them sit for a while and you'll be a happy vaper.

im not sure if anyone else has noticed that the pre filled cartz from ss taste great while they last but that isnt long. Mine tend to leak out eliquid more than actual vape . It does appear to be worse on the high nicotine cartz. I emailed ss about this to see what they say. I hope they improve this because the taste and throat hit from both menthol and regular taste superb. Happy vaping

I do own a SS Hendu and I love it. And yes, you can absolutely refill the cartomizers. I have refilled some of mine up to a dozen times before I noticed any variance in performance. Their cartomizers are expensive, but IMO one of the better made cartos out there. I can almost guarantee the problems you are having are from vaping them too dry. Something all beginners usually do. Its takes awhile to figure out when it needs more juice (aka e-liquid). But it is also possible that you got a defective one. If you are having problems shortly after vaping a new one, then its defective. Email Lorraine at customer service (or send her a PM aka personal message at the SS supplier forum here at ECF)and let her know. She may be able to help you. Be sure she knows that you are an ECF member.

I don't use my SS exclusively because it does not have a long battery life between charges. As you get more into this, you will be using something like a Joye eGo 510 model (get the "manual" or push button type, not an automatic). The battery life is 8-10 hours as opposed to SS 2-3 hours.

That said, I love to use my SS when I go out to dinner or a special occasion. Partly because its less obvious, but mostly because its just beautiful. IMO, the best looking ecig out there. Its sort of like choosing between your most comfy pair of dependable running shoes...and those cute little strappy sandals with the bling on them. (forgive me for that analogy if you are not female).

My only problem with SS is that I hate the taste of the liquid they use in their cartomizers. I've tried other brands of cartomizers that fit it, but they just aren't as good. The draw is not as easy. Since they don't sell unfilled cartos, I just suffer thru the original flavor until its empty. Then I refill them with my favorite juices. To get the orig flavor out, I rinse them under hot running water or let them soak in a bowl of water for a few hours. Then blow out the excess water and let them dry overnight. You may have to do this a couple of times to get the taste out, but usually your favorite flavor will mask the original flavor enough to make it better. By the 2nd time you refill, you won't taste it at all.

If you don't refill, it will just become too expensive to use them. And there are a lot of wonderful flavors out there to try...and its half the fun of vaping to try them. You will likely start with trying to find a tobacco flavor close to your old familiar analog flavor...usually a futile quest. Most of us end up experimenting with non-tobacco flavors and get hooked. I do have a few tobacco flavors that I like, but they really aren't the same as my old analogs. Haven't missed them a bit.

There is a recent poll on this forum (look under polls on the home page) that lists several vendors that sell good juices. Pick one or two and get yourself some bottles of juice (e-liquid). You have to have juice to keep your carto from getting too dry and burning. Its a must. You will know it is drying out by a couple of clues...you won't be getting as much vapor and it will start to taste a bit "off" and unlike the taste you started out with. Usually once it starts getting a burning smell or smoking, it too late. But not always. Refill it and give it a go. You will get better at figuring it out the longer you vape. Just something you have to go thru.

I think you got some good advice in the previous posts about refilling, etc. Also go to the SmokeStik supplier forum here on ECF. Read lots of posts. Lots of good suggestions and advice there. Once you reach 5 posts, you will be able to post questions there as well.

Hope this helps...just keep posting and asking questions. Lots of folks here that want to help. We all remember what it is like to be "new"...there is no such thing as a "dumb" question. Welcome to the forum and welcome to vaping. You're gona' love it.

i'm gonna go out on a limb before one of the SS folks spots this and claim this thread as their own by saying that burnt carto you found has to be a fluke. i've bought 10 cartos from them in the past two months, and every one of them still work great except the two i intentionally killed. rest assured, it's not the norm.
