Help Wth Burnt Tast?

Hi everybody, I've been vaping for about 2 months now experimenting with different set ups with my ego style battery. I used the basic CE4 clearomizer and have had them last only about 2 days before I start tasting the wick burning. I thought maybe I just had bad luck but after going through 3 in a row like this I thought something was up. Now I have switched to a Kanger MT3s tank which has been good so far, but its only been a couple of days. I usually go through about 1.6ml to 3ml a day depending on if I'm bored at home and just sit there chiefing on it and taking big rips (which I normally do). Now from what I've been reading on this forum people usually get about 20ml out of the CE4s. So my question is: Does how you hit your ecig determine how long the wicks will last? Or am I drying out the wicks with all the big rips and chiefing? What am I doing wrong? The local vape shop doesn't seem to REALLY know a lot on this subject. Sorry for the long post but I figured more info would be better. Thank you in advance for all of your help and replies.

Generally, if your vape frequency is higher you will obviously go through heads/coils faster, but 1.6 - 3 ml a day is pretty low to moderate. Often a burnt taste can be associated with the wicks not delivering enough juice to the coil or too much wicking material preventing enough e-liquid from reaching the coil(s).

I to have been vaping for about 2 months and had the same problem with burnt taste with CE4/5 and MT3/Evods. I think my biggest mistake was not letting the juice soak in long enough when filling. Also hitting it too much with out letting the wick soak up juice. Now I have to do "Primer" puffs (hitting it without firing) to help the wick soak up juice. I didn't know how much flavor I was missing out on untill I got a simple dripper atomizer. Yeah its a pain dripping every 6 or 8 hits but I cant stand the dry/burnt hits. One thing to try that worked on my mini protank 2 was loosening the tank. I think hitting it alot created a vacuum and doesn't let the juice flow out into the coil. Loosening the tank broke the vacuum and let the pressure equalize. Hope some of this helps.

Um, like I said I'm still pretty new so this may sound stupid, but what do you mean by dry burn?

Dry burn is when you take the eliquid out of the tank, take apart your tank and clean it and the coil head. When you put your coil back on you fire your device at a low power or voltage setting to get the coil to burn off all the ejuice gunk that has built up on your coil. When the coil is glowing red again stop and put your tank back together and refill with e liquid. Performs almost like new afterwards.:)

I hear that you should also reclean after a dry burn. It makes sense. Rinse the crap off.

On a side note, it has never solved a problem for me. If I get a burnt taste, the coil is done. Frequent cleaning makes them last longer. When it tastes burnt, the coil is done. I have never brough any back to life.

Maybe I need to dry burn when it doesn't appear to need it?

I am not blowing clouds.

I wish I had known that when I first started! That would have saved me a lot of money. Thank you for the explanation. When I first started, I was using the juice from a gas station by my "VaporX", but after reading further on this forum I quit using that juice because it IS thick and dark colored. Now I use juice made to order from a local vapor shop. Really pleased with them, just pick your flavor and tweek it if you want. I make sure they make all the juice I buy without any color and I use %60 VG/%40PG. Not sure if that's much better but it looks a lot more thin. I use a 3.5v battery with 2.2 ohm resistance

I'm using a SID with an AeroTank and find that a coil will last me about 7 days before I start to get the occasional "Yuck". In about 9 days, it has opened and the coil needs replaced anyway, so I tolerate the bad hits. I haven't done a dry burn because I can't imagine that would solve the problem, but I'll give it a try next week.
