I tend to be the one buying things for friends, family, staff in the eCig world so in the next month or so, will likely be buying a dozen chargers or so; hence this question:

Usage: AW 18350 and 18650 batteries
Devices: LavaTube Mini mostly, plus perhaps a VV Reo down the road

The xtar WP2 II is $20, and Pila is $45

Since I am planning on buying perhaps a dozen chargers in the near-term,
can someone tell me if the xtar WP2 is AS SAFE as the Pila.

I would like to be able to put the batteries in the charger at bedtime and remove them in the morning.

Bluntly, I have only used cheap BrandX chargers and sat there watching and removed them the moment the light turned green, but that is becoming a pain. I want to charge them overnight and not have to worry about anything dangerous.

Thanks

I am waiting for my Xtar to get here. I have two Pilas and was going to get another, but the vendor I buy batts and chargers from is out of Pilas. He just got in the 2 bay Xtar, and for $20.00, I thought I'd try it. My only concern is that it will charge to 4.2v's. From what I've read and heard, constantly charging your batts to full capacity, shortens the overall life span of the battery. I'm no expert on this, but I have heard this from some reputable sources. So I'm waiting to see what the Xtar does. If nothing else, it will become a backup charger, and I'll go ahead and get another Pila. My Pilas charge anywhere from 4.1 - 4.18 v's, depending on the batt.

If you read the link above review on xtar does not go up to 4.2volts witch he says is good also.

I think they are a pretty close in all the specs and I have heard they quit charging when the pila will keep cycling on and off to maintain the 4.19 charge. I don't know if that is true or not.

I will say that my Pila is so much faster than any charger I have ever had that I only need one. I do have a back up 4 bay trust fire but I am thinking moving up to the 6 bay x star for my backup.

Once you use a Pila you will understand why we love them so much. Putting a battery in them is like flipping a battery into a REO. Not having that sliding contact is the best. Spacers are also fun to screw in and out.

If budget allows, go with the PILA, but the XTARS i'm very pleased with the quality of too. The initial build quality is just as good as the PILA, however i haven't carried them long enough to get a long term reliability feel for them.

I have both an XTAR. MP6 and MP1 for travel. Both work well but the MP6 is awesome. Before I got I had all kinds of battery issues. Not anymore. Works flawlessly and safely with a separate charging channel at 600 mAh per channel. For me XTAR is the only charger or battery I fully trust.
