I've had an ego for about 6 months but I am not satisfied. I'm looking for a smaller e-cig that better resembles a real cigarette, and that doesn't have a manual button. I also don't want to hastle with liquid either. I've been looking at the fifty one duo, but it's very pricey. I've heard good things about it except for the battery life is short. I would like to get opinions and recommendations on what I should buy.

If you're really insisting on getting a smaller battery, then take a look at Smokeless Image. It's a KR808D-1 battery, so if you decide to fill your own cartos you'll be able to buy them from anyone who sells them. I'm wonder though, why the step down from the eGo? Is it just the size or is there something else that you're looking for?

I don't have any specific model recommendations for you, but working in the electronics field, I can comment on batteries. Any battery that is closer to the size of a real cigarette, will have SIGNIFICANTLY shorter life per charge than your Ego. Just a matter of the laws of physics...smaller battery, shorter life per charge.

If you don't want to mess with liquid, the only option I'm aware of are pre-filled cartidges and cartomizers. Since you're in Houston, you may have some stores available so you won't have to always mail order. But that's the most expensive method as well. I'm pretty sure the liquid is the only way to get the flavor and nicotine into the e-cig. I haven't seen any e-cigs that don't require liquid in some way.

I don't like the button on the ego. The atomizer on the ego has also been giving me problems, which is why I don't want to mess with liquid. The over-all durability of it is also poor. Since I've had my ego, I've bought one battery, and two atomizers. I love my ego when it works properly, but it's consistency on working to it's full potential is not reliable.

Try Vapor4Life, which sells their own (not rebranded) KR808D-1. They have more flavors of prefilled cartomizers than anyone else, I think. They are constantly having substantial sales. Get on their mailing list, of better yet, their friends and family list. See the V4L forum on this site - information is in the stickies near the top. They have a 45 day warranty and very good customer service.

Why not just use cartomizers on the eGo? Then you won't be sacrificing battery life.

Two atomizers in six months isn't that bad, either. Have you tried dripping?

It sounds like you would be happier for now with automatic 510 or 808d-1 batteries with cartomizers. You will still want to refill your own cartos with bottled liquid, but this will only need to be done maybe twice a week or less depending on how many cartos you purchase. Once you find happiness with your hardware and routine, you can always grab a 501 (or 901 for the 808 batteries) attie to drip different flavors onto for trying new flavored niquids.

I do hope you can get this resolved soon. I know it must be really frustrating not being happy with your current setup.

The 51 Trio was my first e-cig from the mall - $190 for the kit. Had to exchange batteries 4x in a week or so. The only nice thing - I could drive to the mall rather than wait on shipping. I don't think they're any better or worse than other cigarette-looking ecigs out there. I got a mod and it changed everything. Skipped the Ego/Gogo/Riva phase. I didn't know they existed. Life improved greatly. Good luck!!

4pack,

I hate to say this but if you're not satisfied, I think you need to go bigger, not smaller. I had to move on from from Ego/Riva to a 5 volt to get satisfaction. Try to replace your atty every couple weeks too. That's their normal life span. They are only $5 or 6 bucks and their vapor production decreases every few days. Remember, a pack of cigs costs ya $10 in NY and probably close to that in TX! Buying an atty every day would still be cheaper than smoking:)

MadVapes has lotsa 5 volt mods for cheap if you want to experiment. The first I bought was their 5 volt passthrough and the 2 amp wall plug for it. It was @ $25 for both items. It felt like the difference between driving a 4 cylinder engine and a 8 cyl 350 truck motor! That's how good it feels to vape at 5 volts:) Triple the vapor and satisfaction.

You might want to try going to a local vape-meet in your area, where you'll probably be able to try several different units and 'get experienced' to what's really out there and what you may prefer.

...And meet some of your local vaping brethern. :)

How do you find such things?! I know my local distributor sells at a trade market near Houston, but I've never heard of a vape-meet! Would be right up my alley.

I fyou are going to go with something cig sized you are going to loos battery life. The smaller the battery the less charge it holds. If you are really looking for something that size, look at the 510 starter kits. Most of the vendors that I have looked at have them.

Plus you loose throat hit, consistency and flexibility. But you get to change batteries every hour and replace tons of them.
