i know what i want to do, i just don't know the proper dimensions...

im looking to make a mechanical 18650 with 501 connector tube mod from hand-lathed wood...

what i need to know, are the dimensions of :

Battery Compartment

Switch hole

501 connector hole

basically im going for something like this: Wooden Drip Sticks

but, i know i can make it myself, so why not?

I can tell you that the dimensions are 18mm wide x 65mm long the 18650, the 0 is because it is cylindrical. As for the switch I couldn't tell you, depends on your choice of switch. The 501? I have no idea.. If you mean "510" then it is 11/32 for a nice tight fit.

The batt dimensions are just the battery. you would most likely need to make it a hair longer.

With regards to the battery dimension, a protected 18650 is on average 67mm long counting the pcb on the end. A 20mm hole is quite spacious. If it is just the battery, a 19mm (3/4") hole is still loose. You do need to run a wire from the bottom, I would suggest an additional channel or groove for this so that there isn't friction on the wire from inserting the battery. If your battery has the positive side down, the vents on the battery could match vents in the sliding door.

As for the unknowns, You need an electrical connection from the battery to the switch, and the switch to the connector.

Best of luck! :)
