Do they have the burnt taste all the time or at intervals? Do these break down? It could be the white plastic cap on top of the atomizer and is pinching the wicks not allowing sufficient wicking. I remove about 1/16-"1/8" of this white plastic and it works like a charm but be sure not to fill it up over the white plastic or it will flood.

Any suggestions on a great starter kit to get me going on a better system?

There's a loaded question, roam around on here a while, there's so many to choose from. You might also decide if what you currently have is working for you, aside from some small problem with the clearo's. That's an easy fix if that's the only problem!

Others have experienced a "chemical taste". "metal taste" and/or "burned taste" as you describe. Some juices appear to interact with the plastic, although the burnt taste may well be related to the resistance of your clearo and power (W) used. Remember W = v^2 x r. There is a great table to guide safe vaping, hopefully to a pleasurable outcome :

I am having trouble with colored plastic C4 clearomizer. Every once in a while I will get a brand new one that tastes like burning chemicals and kills my throat. Its random when it happens but I end up throwing them away and am wasting some money for sure. Any help would be appreciated.

When I started out, my starter kit came with CE4's and I didn't know there was anything better than that. I thought vaping sucked until I wised up and bought some glass tanks. I have several Kanger ProTanks and a couple of ProTank mini's. Go with a glass clearo and keep the CE4s for a dire emergency. :) Or...you could just pick up some Kanger EVOD tanks. They are still plastic, but much better quality and as long as you aren't using juices that are known to crack plastic (cinnamon and citrusy flavors just to name a couple) they can last a very long time.
