Sometime today, I officially become a homeower for the first time. Yes, I deliberately left out the N. What does that have to do with vaping? Well, there are some renos to do (nothing extraordinarily huge), packing, moving and unpacking, and a lot of little unforeseen things that will pile up and conspire to make my life a huge ball of stress. Thankfully the house was well-kept, so most of the issues are cosmetic.

Normally during such stressful times, I've reached for a cigarette. I'm hoping that vaping will be enough to keep me from being an absolute bear to everyone around me, and to prevent a relapse. I think it will, but you never know.

Anyway, just wanted to share this momentous occasion in my life with my vaping family.

Congratulations buddy! We just moved into our second home middle of May. Yes, renos can be a total knockout. I've dropped about 25G so far on the place, getting the backyard done, Patio, Gazebo, Furniture etc etc. Haven't yet started on the inside which thankfully is in good shape, although I do see some "projects" I'd like to tackle in the winter. ;)

Keep on vaping. If you feel stress coming on, vape some more!!

You could probably fund your "projects" by selling your PVs :)

Best of luck with the house and the move and the vaping~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I wish I lived in a house, but I don't envy your stress.

If you do have a relapse, for heaven's sake, don't beat yourself up for it. Just start again from where you are and keep on keeping on!!

My girlee suggestion is to have a few of your multiple devices strategically placed, with juiced up cartos, should you run into a snag. (For example, have a couple at the old place, one with you packing, one with you driving, a couple for house and garage in new place.. maybe some of your less expensive units so you won't miss them if they get lost or damaged??)

My thinking is if a vaping solution is within easy reach ~~ and analogs aren't ~~ you may surprise yourself and pull off the move and renos without a tobacco smoke!

Good luck to you and your family.

@Farmer_bric :I was a base brat!

Mike Congratz!!!! I am sure a slight bump in nic just incase will do you well if you are that worried about it :) Just keep a no fuss no muss setup on you and I am sure you will do fine! I think as long as you tell yourself to reach for the PV first, it will be enough to keep you away.

I have found that when I think I should just grab an analog "CAUSE I NEED IT!!!!!" but give the PV a chance first and then if it doesn't cut it I will have that analog, I never do :)

It's when we don't give vaping a first shot is when it turns bad :p

Cheers dude and good luck!

Congrats New House Owner!!!

What an exciting time and yes it will be he-- temporarily as you re-root, but a JOYFUL time too.
I've been through the moves and renos a few times and still not done in my current home, but no hurry. :)

Now stress, I know that too well and almost 'went to the store' since quitting. But did not!! I've analyzed 'those' days where I've had a craving and it's down to twice this month. The only conclusion I've come to is when I've had to fiddle with equip and can't grab that satisfaction immediately. So I make sure something is available at all times. I think this has been suggested, but if you make certain you have a device readily filled and available, you WILL BE OK & SMOKE FREE! :)
Much luck on your new adventure!

Congrats Mike!

Please remember that a lot of times when smokers stop to have a smoke, it's not so much the smoke they may want, as the BREAK! Don't forget to sit down and take a couple minutes when you want a vape, and just relax! Five or ten minutes won't ruin your move, and it'll help with the stress.

Congrats on your 2 year anniversary Dusty!

Congrats Dusty on two years! That's phenomenal!

Thanks everyone for the well-wishes and congratulations. I made it through the first day ok, but we really didn't do a whole lot. Just pulled out a dishwasher and prepped some of the walls for painting.

By next Friday, however, my mood will depend on how much we've yet to do; move-in is next Saturday.

I'm almost 100% sure I'll get through this; last Saturday I was out for a friend's birthday, and somehow convinced him to let me try a drag off of one of his cigarettes. It was painful. I don't want to know how it would've felt if I wasn't five beers deep at the time. Almost gave myself a hernia with the coughing fit. I say almost 100% because I have relapsed after a month or two a couple times in the past.

Still at least I know that the vaping is having positive effects on my system!

Congrats on the house Mike, I was fortunate enough to buy a house 4 years ago, and have been broke ever since lol, but you cannot beat the odd quiet evening on the back deck with a vape in one hand and the other on your other vape looking up at the beautiful blue sky :)

Dusty - 2 years, that's awesome.

Mike - someone said that it's the breaks more than the smoking that you crave. I still take all of my breaks :) I think that a lot of us weren't that good at stress management and relied on smoking to drug us into relaxation quite often. I guess people could just look to manage it on their own, or perhaps try WTA which relaxes you like the smokes used to :)

There's also things like sam-e and st johns wort, both of which will keep you from getting too high strung as well. I've found that to succeed long term you either need will power or a little help from your friends. I choose the latter, only the friends are different ones :)

Once again, I appreciate the well-wishes.

Still going strong without even the desire for an analog, even though most of my day was spent discovering things I didn't like. Such as in the first basement (we're in a side-split) where we were going to rip the drywall out and replace it because it had honest-to-goodness stucco on it, turns out it was framed (thankfully only partly) with 2x2s and has some electrical issues, such as live wires running under the carpet. Not to mention that the drywall was on top of barn board which was on top of faux wood paneling. Oh, and it was nailed about every three inches at the widest points, so it was a royal bugger to get off. I'm figuring I could sell the nails alone as scrap steel for a good chunk of change. :p

So, yeah. A simple re-drywall turned into a "we're gonna have to cut this framing out and rebuild it, and fix the electrical and, and and...."

Also, our kitchen drainpipe was leaking because I stupidly didn't cap the pipe after unhooking the dishwasher, so I decided to cut a length off and cap it. My motto being "Ready, fire, aim!", I grab my reciprocating saw and hack through it without getting a bucket first.

Ten plus feet of pipe disgorging years of built-up sludge onto the floor isn't something you ever want to see. Or smell. Spent my whole afternoon mopping. :p

So, yeah. Tensions ran high, but I was still ok.
