a canadian vendor (won't say what one)

sent an kit to me, by mistake. i can only use a few things in the kit, not everything. while i do appreciate the mistake, as it was in my favour, the kit contents aren't in a colour i usually would have purchased.

i am trying to tell the vendor i am willing to exchange that which i don't need for juice. the vendor seems to think that the shipping would be more than the exchange of the product, even if sent by regular mail.

so who is in the right here? should i just be grateful that this kit came to me, as spare parts are always handy? or push a bit harder for the exchange? or just send the entire kit back, with no harm, no foul?

i like this vendor. quality products and has always given great service.

what is the forum's take on this?

(and to that poster who always puts down people posts, please refrain from doing that one this one ok? you have already done that to two threads i started, and, i am getting a bit tired of it.)

A vendor error in shipping is THEIR error, meaning..... if they want it back (since you graciously contacted them about it rather than just kept it), would be for them to provide you with a post paid return.

Out of cost, convenience, and/or customer service, it would be in their benefit to either tell the customer to keep it (merry christmas), or offer an acceptable (to you) price to pay for it (remembering that you could have simply "quietly" kept it in the first place).

That's my take anyways...... If it were I that received it under those circustances, I most likely would have decided if the shipment was something I "could" use or was interested in, reported the error to the vendor, and offered what "I" thought was fair in payment considering the mistake.

I think you did the right thing contacting the supplier. It it was Walmart, heck I would've just kept it. But to a little guy that mistake is going to hit him in the pocket.

Since it wasn't your mistake, its up to the supplier to make it right, so whatever he does its not a bother to you. He pays for shipping and gives you a slight discount next time, compensation for your going out of your way to correct his mistake. If he doesn't want to do anything to help, I suggest you keep it at your house available for pickup :)

well it is a shame that the vendor doesn't seem open to my suggestion of only keeping what i need.

the kit came with an extra batt and atty. i would have kept those and sent back the entire kit. i would have paid for the shipping, and kept the two products, paying the difference to the vendor's pay pal account.

these canadian vendors need our support, so that's why i did what i did...now i am not so sure i did the right thing, with the way the vendor is presenting their side. this vendor literally expects me to pay the full amount for something i didn't order. makes me think .. was it really a mistake?

hmmm ....

Well if that's what they are thinking.. Heck if that was how things worked, you would find a new Rolls Royce in your driveway, shipped there by me, with a huge invoice from me..

But there are always 2 sides to the story. You have agreed to ship to back on your coin even?

Best way to end it, if you still want to deal with this supplier, spend the 8 bucks to ship it back, and make them pay for the shipping on your next order, or you won't order from them again. Then its behind you and you can sleep at night knowing you are a nice person.

He should at least send you a prepaid envelope to send it back in:) Surely he doesn't expect you to pay for shipping on his mistake:confused:
