I'm looking to buy an e cig. Only problem is like so many things you are introduced to, there's a ton of em.

I didn't even know they made electronic cigs until I saw one in the tourist.

I was going to buy one of those kits from V2, but after looking up some reviews found the company wasn't the greatest it seemed.

So while trying to search I found this place. Why use the thoughts one one when you can gather the many. And here is my question for any who care to answer.

What's some of the best brands out there?

Now I know their is no best brand, everyone likes something different, but when it comes down to it their are always some few brands that stand out among others. It's the same with cars, piano's sports gear, shoes. Which brands have the most reliable products? Which are reliable?

I'm mainly looking for just a regular looking thing much like a cigarette. It's for my mum, I figured it couldn't hurt not to suck all that crap into her lung, and as it stands, only place to get a cheap cigarette are the reservations. And even there the cost is just climbing more and more.

Any answers would be appreciated. I'm always looking for more education. Thanks.

For cig sized name brand...Joye 510 was the kit I used to quit. A step up to the size of a sharpie marker is the Joye eGo with the Riva being is knockoff and also just a good as the eGo. Up from that would be mods but I don't think your Mom wants a box or pipe stuck to her face all the time.

Cheapest place I found is liberty-flights for the ego/riva kits. I don't know about the smaller cig sized one as it has been 9 months since I've bought them. I'm sure someone else can tell you where to get the 510.

If you want to keep it simple and the same size, the kr808d-1 is a simple 2 piece ecig. It's a cartomizer and battery where the 510 is a 3 piece system (cartridge, atomizer, battery).

Out of the 4 I've stated, I would either choose the Joye 510 or the KR808. The best vendor, off the top of my head, for the KR808D-1 is vapor4life.com.

Good luck and I'm sure you will get tons of opinions about what to buy.

Hey user32! You'll get a gazillion opinions I'm sure!
If you want something that "looks" closest to a cigarette, check out vapor4life or bloog. Both are good companies, and they have subforums here you can read. There are quite a few terrific companies represented here on ECF so check out the subforum "suppliers" pages. vapor4life, vapor junction, freedom smoke usa, liberty flights are all ones that I'd personally recommend to a friend.
Good Luck to you & your mom!

    in a cave, eh?
If you need a mini style, looks like a cigarette, crappy battery life be damned, consider a KR808D-1. Brands include: Volt, Bloog, HaloCigs, etc.

A bigger battery model means better battery life and gives you the option of trying those tasty battery-killing low-resistance atomizers like the SmokTech Dual Coil and the Boge Low Res cartomizers. Consider getting a model with 510-threads, they have the best options for accessories. (Don't confuse 510-thread compatible models with the Joye 510 mini style system).
Brands include: Riva, Ego, Ego-T (tank) and Echo-E.

I would generally recommend a manual battery over an automatic battery. An automatic battery is closer to a cigarette, but you want to be careful to keep water or juice out of the small battery hole.

The above-mentioned suppliers are certainly a good place to start. Consider buying your juice separately from places like Tasty Vapor, Gourmet Vapors, Mrs. T's Bakery, Johnson's Creek, etc.

If looks like a cigarette, and simple, are the drivers, KR808D-1, whether generic or one of the popular branded/"next generation" ones. I've had good luck with products from vapor4life (always running sales -- check the Deals and Steals thread in the pay it forward area here [there's a link to PIF in my signature]), NHaler (coupon code SAVEINNJ I believe), vaporsetc (coupon code vapezone I believe).
A basic kit, 2 batteries, charger, some initial prefilled cartomizers (cartridge + atomizer) runs about $50.
Standard batteries, with cartomizer, are about the size of a 100 cigarette. XL or mega batteries are the size of a long cigarette, like a More, provide noticeably longer run time between charges.
Manual batteries (with small pushbutton on the side) are more durable, but modern 808 automatic batteries are pretty good, particularly if you stick to prefilled cartomizers (no risk of too much juice getting into the switch), and autos to me are the simplest, most natural. (Yes I use manual now, and actually a VV mod, but this is for a new person).
If she is a heavy smoker, larger batteries are good. A deservedly popular type is the Riva or eGo 510, a "big battery" manual unit. A Riva 510 kit run just over $30 at liberty flights after discount (coupon code october20). There are fewer prefilled cartomizers for the 510. Though filling isn't hard, it can provide a stumbling block, part of the initial learning curve.
    Good luck!

After about 1.5 years at this, here's my input...
    Already some great suggestions here...
Personally I started with a cheap (not price but quality) starter set from a local tobacco shop - big mistake, but it was an intro into this world.
Next was a Joye 510 with manual batts after reading tons of posts on this forum. Certainly a step up, and small / closer to an analog feel, but still not completely satisfying. I realized that at the time, though I liked the size, style, etc... It was time to bite the bullet and step up.
Next was a Riva. Absolutely fantastic and if you're up for the slightly bigger size, a great choice. I've had the best luck with standard atty's and a drip tip. No matter whether you drip, fill carts, etc.. you'll be quite satisfied with this one. I've used it so much that most of the paint is worn right off the thing and it still performs like a champ.
Next up is a recently purchased Innokin Lea. Very nice unit for the money and the tank is very convenient. Its wider than a 510, and longer than either a 510 or the Riva, but really nice unit, great battery life, and for some reason, the first I've used that gives me a strong nic hit. I'll be using a lower nic level in this than the other units, can't explain this one... but its my experience.
I've also ordered and am waiting on a Volt. I couldn't resist trying for convenience, based on all the great things that have been said about it, etc.. Seems like it will be a great vape for in the car, running around, etc where smaller size is helpful and longer battery life isn't needed.

For cigarette-sized, Vapor4Life is good. Check out their forum here. Even better choice: Bloog. Plus, parts are interchangeable. Bloog just hits much better. Buy a 102mm battery -- it's slim but lasts much longer than the shorty -- and it's good for 4-6 hours without having to go to a big battery. That said, I also like big batteries and mods!! But this is for your mom. I have my mom set up on a 510 right now with cartomizers. However, I'm switching her to Bloog for the easier (lo, perfect) draw. Their prefilled carts are actually quite good and I have to keep things very simple for my mom. I come along and periodically refill her carts for her as even that is too hard for her. There's never a burnt taste with the Bloog carts. Highly recommend.

    I'd go with a "510".

The regular size is about the same as a cigarette and there are a ton of options, cartomizer/atomizers that fit a 510. Also, if your mom decides she likes e-Cigarettes but wants more battery life, she can move up to an eGo or Riva and all her old cartomizers and atomizers will fit.

the Bloog Maxx Fusion is the latest and greatest technology for an analog-looking ecig...and The Volt by Smokeless Image is exactly the same thing as the Maxx Fusion, only less expensive!

as for those who say you shouldn't get an analog-sized pv, i disagree...i have a ton of Ego-type pv's and accessories, with the Echo 1300 being my latest -- in which i Love, btw! it works ALL DAY and into the next without changing a thing. however, when i am in a social situation, i prefer to have something much less conspicuous...The Volt fits the bill perfectly. :)

You're not using it as your only pv. That's what we're saying. No one said not to get one. But if it's the only one you have, you may get a little frustrated with the short battery life. I have a 510 as well as an ego. I would never keep vaping if my only pv was a 510. I'd go nuts with batteries.

I currently use the Volt as my only PV. Yes the battery life is not as long as it could be but it's not bad. FYI I am a heavy vapor I go through at least 5 cartos and three batteries a day. I have found the Volt to be the PV for me because I am finally down to only smoking 3-4 analogs a day compared to 3/4 pack a day using my mod.
Just remember everyone is different and what works for one person may not work for another. That being said I would HIGHLY recommend the Volt by smokeless image to anyone who is looking into ecigs.
Here's the ECF link to SI thread on the forum http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/e-cigarette-suppliers-forum/187974-official-smokelessimage-com-thread.html
Best of luck to all in this adventure in finding something that works for you!

I agree with Shizzle. If you want a cig style go with the volt or similar model. They are much better than a 510. They have a great auto battery and a higher mah rating then the 510. The carto is the bottom horiz coil design and works very good. If you want a longer lasting battery you can step up to the Echo 650 or 1300 which is my favorite. They both have the same type carto and awesome auto batteries!
