Thoughts:
Tarot Labs recently had a 25% off special on July 4th. While I had never heard of the company I checked out the website to see many liquids that looked quite intriguing. As a lover of the anise based liquids I couldn't pass on trying another one that would be considered more "premium."
Hermit comes to us light blue in color (which changed to light brown with steeping) with a sweet alcoholic spirit smell. On inhale there is a sweet flavor that reminds me of white wine. Included in this are various spices that remind one of the actual Absinthe drink. The flavor is just the right amount of strength without being too overpowering or weak. When one is used to other premium anise-based blends it is quite surprising to not be slammed with that flavor.
On exhale the other spices come together with a mild anise flavor. The spices are not "hot" nor strong yet create the experience of actually drinking Absinthe. The mild anise more of an afterthought performing the encore of Hermit.
The throat hit is very good with the vapor production being just ok.
Final Thoughts:
I found Hermit to be quite surprising. While expecting the standard citrus or tropical anise flavors I was treated to something quite different. The most similar liquid on the market would be Ahlusion's Blue Fairy. More of a wine flavor combined with spices including anise Hermit arrives being a quite unique liquid that the standard anise hater may enjoy. Combined with superior packaging and premium mixes Hermit is definitely a winner. 8/10
