Greetings all,
I wanted to say hi. I've smoked analogs for 27 years, with various quit attempts. The longest quit attempt was about 4 years and I was still dumb enough to start again afterwards, but switched from full-strength Marlboro to rollies. After the 4 year quit attempt, smoking was never the same. It disgusted me, tasted bad and brought the hypochondriac in me out in full. I was convinced I was killing myself, my lungs hurt, I had sinus problems, my fingers were yellow/brown, I was wheezing. It was terrible. So one day in June I quit and went onto patches.
But oh man, the patches were horrible. Far too much head-rush and elevated heart rate. But I pressed on, and went 6 weeks on full strength with a view to dropping the nic levels... eventually. But of course, the closer I got to my target reduction date, the more I panicked. ... was I gonna do? I went out on a night out and drank, and that was the killer. I was gonna buy a pack of stinkies. Yeah booze and attempting to quit smoking does not work for me. But a friend on that night out was using something I'd never seen before, or even heard of. An Ego-T with gorgeous tasting (I tried it) Blueberry ejuice. I thought e-cigarettes looked like analogs, but this one absolutely did not. So instead of that pack of cigarettes, I bought a cheap cig-a-like instead, which was a fairly nasty tasting thing, but at least I didn't smoke real cigs that night.
I very soon upgraded that habit to a setup with a 600mah 550 thread battery and a CE9 clearomizer, just like an entry-level thing, with 1.8mg 70%/30% PG to VG juices and played around with that for a month, and oh man I felt like hell. Sure I was off the stinkies and patches, but I had muscle cramps and twitches, I ached, my sinuses were ready to explode and my throat felt like I had laryngitis. I figured out the hydration thing, which helped and I was almost ready to forget the e-cig thing, when I realised I was allergic to PG
So I switched to 100% VG juices and after a week on amazing juices from a UK online supplier (Coconut macaroon is gorgeous), I've never felt better. I feel as if I could run a marathon. It's been quite a journey of experimentation to get to this point, but I know one thing. I'll never smoke an analog again. Amazing! And the nic cravings are so gentle now!
My wife isn't supportive though. She got this site up E-cigarettes are as harmful as cigarettes and could cause cancer, claims study | Mail Online Now I hadn't seen this before, and was quite worried. I wondered if any of you had any thoughts on what that article has to say? I don't wanna kill myself in the process... OTOH I've seen lots of good research on the subject, like CASAA: New study confirms that chemicals in electronic cigarettes pose minimal health risk so who d'ye believe?
Anyway, I already have a wish-list. I'm eyeing up a Provari mini v2.5 and a Kanger Protank 2. Shiny.. Must - buy - shiny - vaping - hardware.
I guess I don't plan on quitting vaping any time soon
