My man is a cigar smoker and as many of you know those STINK to high heavens. I joined VF a 8 days ago and have a ton of posts asking advice and for help deciding on what deal to go with. So now after researching for awhile I have decided the Ego or a Riva are best for us for a first vaping device. I am grateful to everyone who's helped me, but I figured it was time to take the plunge here since I have been lurking for days now and I really think you've got a great set of forums and I like the format.

I was a smoker for a LONG time, I am 41 going on 42 and I started when I was about 13, only it didn't hook me right away until I was about 16. So anyway, I had a dentist tell me he'd need to do a flap and stitches when he extracted this bad tooth I had. He said, "UNLESS you quit smoking today, when you come back for the actual extraction I am going to have to do stiches and the flap procedure. There's a chance it will regenerate in time to not need this though if you can stop smoking today."

Well scare tactic or not, it worked! I stopped not that day, but the following morning. I was a 20-25 cigarette smoker and quitting cold turkey was AWFUL! HORRIBLE! If vaping had been around back then in October of 2005, I'd have tried it in a heartbeat. Knowing most of you don't smoke analogs anymore is inspiring to me, you see my mother also smokes, has for over forty-five years, and not cigs, mini-cigars which she is inhaling!

We hope that after my man vapes and shows her how much he's enjoying it (we know there's a learning curve but he's highly motivated) that she will use a starter kit we'll get for her, again, either an Ego or a Riva. I am really hopeful that these PV's will help stop the damage she's been doing with cigarettes and the mini cigars and help her start to feel better. ANYTHING to get her OFF analogs...I did some you tube searching last week and saw GrimmGreen's videos which were and are awesome, and also Ritalee76's videos. I am really inspired by these and other reviewers and members of this forum and Vaper's Forums. Thank you all for being so cool to learn from.

I don't think that was a scare tactic, I have been doing some research on
the immediate effects of quitting smoking, and apparently when you quit the circulation in your mouth increases a LOT, more bloodflow = GOOD. Maybe (not 100% on this) the extra bloodflow
was what he thought you needed for that to heal faster.

Your dentist seems to know his stuff!

Hello, everyone! I'm new here, too. I just joined this morning, although I have been reading here since yesterday.

I tried e-cigarettes last summer, but they didn't satisfy at all. They were hard to draw on, and provided very little vapor. I still craved cigarettes. Finally they quit working altogether. After reading here, I'm finding there are much more choices available.

I just have to figure out what to get! I want lots of vapor, longer battery life, and an atomizer that doesn't quit on me right away. There are so many options that I'm really confused right now.

Off to read more!

Hi Wild Rose! Glad you joined up and found the board here. We first thought the joy 510 kit would do it, but after finding this board and Vapers Forums we discovered the eGo/Riva and decided with it's HUGE amount of vapor production and longer battery life that it's the way to go for us. Check into it, watch some you tube reviews and see what you think, if you need some links to videos just post and let me know I'll gladly share the ones I found. Welcome to the board! :D
