Right behind you...
After lurking for over a week, decided to register and participate!

Little history about myself:

As a 30 year PAD+ guy, I finally "quit" smoking two and a half years ago, but never gave up the NRT...was mostly popping 2mg Thrive mints with the occasional gum, but I was well and truly off the "stinkies" until September, when I fell off the wagon and landed face-first into a stinking pile of cigarettes. Within a week I was back up to a PAD, and feeling it.

Decided that the mints and gum weren't doing the job, the patches and inhalers never worked, and I needed to do something different. Started researching e-cigs, stumbled across this forum as well as the prolific YouTube videos from "GG" and "PB" among others. Quickly learned a lot, and found a local vendor of Joye products here in Vancouver.

Opted for an Ego C starter kit, along with a small supply of tobacco flavored juice. I went that route because I wasn't (and still ain't) ready for large "mods" and huge tanks, but knew that the tiny cigarette-sized kits wouldn't work for me either.

Got it home and was happy to find out it worked, sort of...I could see the potential, it was keeping me off the cancer sticks (barely, and supplemented with 2mg mints), but the big thing I was missing was throat hit not to mention the draw on the Ego C tank was hard, took a lot of work.

So a few days later I went back to that same local vendor and bought a single CE4/CE5 clearo (Vizy branded) along with a few more tobacco flavors. The CE4 was a major improvement in draw (much more natural pull) and throat hit over the Ego C tank, but still not there. I found myself chain-vaping, chasing after that "perfect hit" that might come one time in twenty drags...I was getting plenty (too much) nicotine with the 18mg juices I was using, but very little actual satisfaction.

Did some more research, read up more on VV, looked at all my options, and decided I still I did not want anything much larger than an Ego-style battery. Not really a cost issue, just a practicality issue, no way was a Provari or Darwin or something of that ilk going to work into my lifestyle.

Anyway, yesterday I decided to give the Ego C Twist batteries a try. Bought two 650 Twists, along with more "Camel" juice. And this time I also had him throw in a 10ml bottle of 18mg caramel flavor, just to see what all the non-tobacco flavor fuss was about, along with another CE4 to make flavor changing easier.

Ok, first off, the Twist is indeed a game-changer. Set at 4.0-4.2v with the CE4, I'm getting the throat hit I want EVERY SINGLE TIME. And since I'm getting satisfying hits every time, I'm using less juice. Hallelujah. I'm sure it'll change as my clearos get worn, but for now it's working and working well.

Second, ya'll are right...tobacco flavors aren't the way to go, though I doubt you'll ever convince non-menthol PAD+ smokers this is true, they have to find out for themselves. I've got 50ml of 18mg tobacco flavor I regret buying now, after trying the caramel. :)

Third, the Ego C tank system doesn't actually suck when used with a Twist at higher voltages. Seriously, the Ego C atty/tank works MUCH better with the Twist...at 4.2v it's almost as good a throat hit as the CE4, though it's still more work to draw. But what that means is my initial investment in the Ego C starter kit wasn't totally wasted, I can still make use of the tanks, cones and atomizers that came with it, and the whole setup does look more attractive (or less obtrusive, anyway) with the cone than a clear CE4. It's a nice option to have.

Anyway, that's a lot for a first post, glad to be here, appreciate all the good information ya'll provide, thanks for having me!

Welcome to the forum!

You started out better than I did. I went and bought some stuff (won't bash the vendor), then I found ECF! No, your stuff you got with the kit isn't totally wasted. The tobacco juice you got, did you let it steep? Meaning shake the bottle, open it up and remove the dripper? Tobacco juice needs to steep a week or to to taste right. You also need to shake it once and a while during the steeping process.

BTW, as far as the candy goes, Atomic Fireballs were the only thing that half way worked. If I had a glass tank, I'd try it in the juice! LOL!

Pretty much used it right out of the bottle. My local vendor mixed it up right in the shop while I waited. His comes in bottles with "needle tips" that don't seem to remove easy, rather than a standard "nose spray" dropper like I've seen in most vaping vids.

But thanks for the tip, I'll let that new batch of tobacco juice steep and see how that works out. I'm guessing you remove the dropper to let it "breath" while steeping?

Welcome to the ECF Croak. You sound just like the rest of us in the beginning LOL. I thought the same thing as you in the beginning about using a larger mod but gave in and bought a provari in the end. The ego twist wasn't around yet at that point or I would have done the same thing you did. Anything is better that the stinkies.

It tasted pretty much like soap, right? Yes, it definitely needs to breathe. That needle tip should come off just like a "nose spray" dropper will.

Actually, no, it tasted kinda like a cig..or rather, it had a cig aftertaste. It's not that the tobacco flavor is a failure per se, it's just that you can have an actual flavor, not a simulation of burnt paper and plant that's a revelation.

That's something that a hardcore regular cig smoker will have a hard time accepting on just somebody's word, they'll have to try it to believe it, because they think the tobacco taste is a major part of the addiction, when really it's not as important as they think.

EDIT: That flavor issue is one of the reasons you find people conjoin coffee, soda, beer, etc with the act of smoking. What I think most are actually doing is using the beverage to "wash out" the cigarette flavor.

I know when I quit, my Diet Pepsi consumption went from 6-8 cans a day to maybe a can a day, since I no longer needed to "burn the fuzz off" my tongue with carbonated and flavored water.

That's the same thing I first thought. I immediately went looking for nothing BUT tobacco flavored juice. I still have some, and it does taste a lot better after it sat for a while. I like citrus flavored juice now. I got some watermelon in today, but haven't tried it yet.

You only need to let it steep with the top off for 2 days (48 hours). Really shake it up a few times every day, shake till you see little bubbles in the liquid. After the 2 day top off steep, it needs about a week to two weeks steep time with shaking at least once a day. Try it out at a week out, if it still tastes bleck, let it steep another week. When the juices are mixed fresh, the flavors need time to blend together. Your local vendor should have told you this :(

The only juices that I have found that don't need steeping are the samples that I have purchased online. Not all samples don't require steeping. Some are made when you order them. It helps when a vendor puts a "born on" date on the bottle. I didn't know this in the beginning either. That is something I have learned here on ECF.

If you don't like a juice at first, do the cap off steep for a couple of days, then put it away for a while. Revisit it at a later date. You might find that you do like it after all! :) Who knows, your taste buds may change and it might become something that you like.

Good luck!
