Not a 501! It amazes me how many people--even people that own one--can't get that right. ASH's next article will be about how vaping causes dyslexia.
I'd noticed hte same thing. Also with ruyan & runyan-
I sincerely hope that was a joke.![]()

It's a battle you will NEVER win. You should see some of the
intercompany correspondence I see coming from adults with
multiple degrees. Sad, yet amazing.

im sure everyone knows what people mean when they say 501 and its not their jeans...with the other models ending in 01, its rather trivial to have an issue with this
It's that kind of attitude that eventually leads to posts like the first part of yours though (well, that would be more from some geek doing it on purpose, but the misspelling and punctuation...). I realize why people probably get it confused, but it's so simple to see the difference. It's ignorant and lazy not to get it right, sorry. I'm not waging a war against ignorance or anything, but I thought maybe if people see this thread a few might actually pay attention, and perhaps one of them will actually care. The internet can be extremely depressing when you look at how many people don't care at all about how they may be perceived by the people reading their posts. You wouldn't go about your day wearing just your underwear because people would perceive you as a lunatic/idiot/mental deficient. Well, on the internet people's impressions of you are gleaned from your posts. Luckily this site is pretty good with it's community as far as readability is concerned. The people here actually seem to want to be understood and generally present themselves well, so I thought maybe they'd want this pointed out if they'd just accidentally glossed over it. If I'd made a similar thread on an MMORPG site as ATAT mentioned, I'd be immediately bombarded with defensive yet illegible hate-posts (apparently) defending their right to ignorance which is not being disputed here. If you want to be wrong, that's perfectly within your rights. Just realize, it effects how people perceive you.
It's not that I don't know what they mean when they write 501 instead of 510. Mostly, it's just a pet-peeve of mine.![]()

And you know what else grinds my gears? You America!
F*** you!
I used to play MMOs. There was a brief period of time when I would see a post that was so awful, I had to say something about the grammar/spelling. The usual response I would get is something like "dood u aint my english teecher i aint got time 4 spel checkin"
That example may seem a bit far-fetched, but I assure you I've seen so much worse. I finally just figured out that it's not worth it, and if I can understand their meaning, I wouldn't say anything. If I couldn't decipher their gibberish, I'd just move on to another thread.
It really does no good to try and correct people over the internet where spelling and grammar are concerned. It just comes across as confrontational to them.
I realize that, and I generally don't bother anymore. Certainly not with grammar or spelling. It's exactly because the people on this site do seem to care for the most part that I posted. Some people may not have even realized that they were typing it wrong and I figured I wouldn't get attacked for pointing it out. I've seen what you describe many times myself, but it's usually on--for lack of a better term--less mature sites.
