thanks!

Was talking with a co-worker today about rebuildable cartos, i'm still not sold. anyone else use them a lot?

Welcome. Im new here as well. Been vaping for about two months. Quit cold turkey after 8 years of analogs.

I havent gotten into actual rebuildables yet. I have rebuilt the heads on a couple of my Vision Clearos and Vivi Novas. Its not a bad place to start if you want to try your hand at it. Just make sure to have something to check the OHMS of it before you put it on a mod.

i'm just tired of punching cartos, filling tank, hitting button and then the carto not work in some way....

Although i just ordered some 510 "platinum" cartos from Ikenvape and they just came in today. I punched one and threw it on and OMG my juice tastes sooooo good

May want to try a vivi nova. Decently priced initial price, and the replacement heads are the same price as cartos without the reliability and other issues. They seem to last a good bit, especially if you rinse them out and rotate them every 2-3 days.

Dare I say it, you could also try a Reo....

thanks for the OKC vapes link. Good supplier, had my stuff in the next day.

Still having a time building this thing right. Seems like my top coil is smoking hot and i get a metallic taste even when none of my coils are glowing. Maybe 1 too many wraps. I don't have an ohm meter so i'm not sure.

You MUST have some way to test your coils... either with an APV that display's it... or an ohm meter. If you don't, you are asking for trouble and may end up shorting out which can lead to a battery failure. It is also needed so you can get the right ohms setting that you prefer... even if your PV is a variable type. I've got a VAMO ( OKC Vapes carries it also although I got mine elsewhere )... and testing can't be simpler, just press and hold a button for a couple of seconds, much easier than getting my ohm meter out.

A RBA is an advanced user device... but it isn't rocket science and most people should be able to do it once they have a bit of experience. I'm by no means well experienced yet having only built two coils on SS mesh now... so I'll forgo trying to teach or explain it further.. Besides, there are a ton of youtube vids that can explain more than any typed explanation I may be able to come up with. I do know that the different variations of wire guage, type ( kanthal vs nichrome ), the SS mesh ( 325, 400, 500 ) will all change how the wick works.

The metal taste you mentioned... it may be that you are just sensitive to that flavor, but I didn't notice it. It may be that you have a hot coil wrap causing it though, I could see someone describing the flavor of a hot coil as metalic-ish. I know when I have mine setup right... that it blows the Vivi Nova's flavor away ( which is still pretty good in itself ), the AGA-T's flavor is just more saturated for lack of a better way to describe it.
