I was just wondering..

first important question for you guys:

I just got an RBA section for my prince tank, wicked it and it runs pretty good on stock fused clapton wires even though they were spaced af and I had to reshape the coil..no biggie.

Anyway the binding posts are 2mm holes

on my dead rabbit tank, it has 2.5mm holes.

I was wondering: where are the limits for both tanks for inserting wires such as: alien coils, stapled staggered fused clapton coils which I just bought, framed stapled coils, juggernaut, dragon scale etc etc.

any help on this would be fantastic! Thanks for looking into it :)

Hi and welcome,
I'm not sure what you are asking. The "limits" are the area of the hole.
The area of a circle is pi times the radius squared (A = π r²)

Cheers

Your biggest limit will not be the post holes but the overall space the coils take up. If they touch the sides it's a no go.is this a single or dual coil rba?
My opinion here: all those fancy coils are overrated and more for show than anything, better results with twisted wire. Less ramp up than those huge coils, they take up less space, easy to make yourself, easier to work with in general and still more surface area than a single wire coil.

Fused claptons work great on the dead rabbit, I just put some on mine. The other limiting factor would be making sure any coil build is above the minimum resistance of your mod.

Thank you all for the warm welcome! :D Excited to learn from you all!

so I got my ribbon framed stapled staggerton coils in earlier today! Just realized they weren't the coils I thought but I couldn't be happier with them!

That's what they looked like up close before firing them. Honestly I thought they were all hype up until I bit the bullet and tried it. I used to have stock 24ga standard hand wound coils from my vape shop which have lasted me over 3 months for 5 bucks and they always did free cottons. I was kinda spoiled by them so decided to get a kit and whatnot and start rebuilding my self.

anyway after I brought them these coils, they were geeking out for sure lol. They were reffered to as coil porn

anyway these things literally barely fit in my 2.5mm posts for the dead rabbit RBA and that's exactly what my question was about is how coils like these of different types will actually be in mm of thickness because no builder ever specifies what posts they will fit. These would not have fit in my prince RBA deck even if they only had 3 coils, being a 2mm post hole. after the guy got it from .09 ohms which my defender mod didn't even recognize as an attachment at first, he fiddled with it and got it to end up being .11 ohms after firing it in his better mod which means my defender mod works with it just fine, optimally at about 170 watts for a big cloud. They are power hungry!

Crazy part is fireworks come out of it literally with the cloud and if my camera wasn't damaged on the phone I'd try and get a shot of it but they got a slow mo video of it I might be able to catch some time :D

anyway, there is literally 0 cotton flavor, never dry hits, and the coils soak up the juice about 3 times faster than the cotton itself. even if the cotton is about to burn with a dry coil I can barely tell. Honestly it's like there's a demon unicorn in there burning up the juice as flavor intended. There is zero throat scratch on hits now and I'll never go back to anything less than an alien coil after trying this.

It's literally sorcery. flavor is so full it's almost like sipping a warm cool aid version of whatever flavor you're trying. Pretty unreal. Even the people at the vape shop said they've never vaped off a coil as good. For $22 and the ability to last months taking care of it, I'm more than convinced. I might try to buy a spool of some framed staple wire and wrap the coil my self but I know that's mass produced and won't be as good, but I still gotta try 6 ft of wire for $13 bucks off amazon and see how it compares. Would be well worth it if it vaped 1/3 as good. I mean I was a nonbeliever and thought it was hype and maybe just put more cloud out but now I see what they actually do.

Anyway I'll probably put alien coils in my v12 prince RBA tank from now on at .15ish ohms I think they should fit 2mm posts but I don't know yet as wire thickness other than gauge they used to make the wire are never released as a spec. :(

With this one the force is.

Haha, just a carry over from my PubG username :p

Coils like that are actually meant to produce flavor. I just don't care for em though...
To each their own. I would encourage you to not limit yourself to only coils of that nature. And in my experience a coil like that will not last as long as a simpler coil. Hard to clean effectively too, can't scrub burnt crud off the inside of a stretch of wire lol.
Happy you found happiness with yours.

It will clean them effectively. There are various methods and I use a combination of pulsing a toothbrush, and running under water (take your topper off to do that) and q-tips dipped in alcohol.. My coils and tank get perfectly clean. It just may take a bit longer for some folks, and they find it easier to recoil.

I don't but I have a fine motor tremor. It is far easier for me to clean my coils than replace them. Iti is completely and totally a personal preference, but I'd say arguably my method works just as well as replacing the coil, and I'm not wasting most of the coil's useful life. Some folks get months out of their coils. Etc.

Ahh, I figured heh :)

I've seen coils 9 months old (custom alien builds) that look as good as my 2 day old framed stapled staggerton's

I'm talking about the composition of how well the metal hasn't degraded over time of course. I'll probably clean mine twice a week with wicking and not pulse them too high!

I never run my coils under water, just never got into that. I have a tiny bottle brush and use that and spare cotton with a little eliquid to clean them.
I made a set of coils for a friend with Demon Killer twisted fused clapton wire, he cleaned them and ran under water, and the outer wrapping wire popped in a couple places on him. Maybe it was just him doing something wrong. I never had an issue like that myself.
Now I am getting that bug again, maybe if I put some fancy coils in my Aromamizer Plus I can get em to work the way I want, but I'll be dipped if I pay that much for a set of coils...

Break down the math. If you can assume 3 months minimum how much would the coils cost per day?

I think I'm probably a little paranoid, but I wouldn't try using a nylon brush on anything I was going to vape lol

Also don't plan on using nylon pliers on any custom coils I'll eventually learn to build, mostly because Iv'e seen chewed up nylon pliers on youtube videos lol. Like I said paranoid because pulsing them probably takes care of any tiny particles left on, but I have a deep phobia of inhaling any plastic fumes :p

Maybe I'll get an ultrasonic cleaner that can be used with alcohol one day! or find a really fine metal brush for that.

What surprises me is the guy at my local vape shop has a set of coils over a year old and he pulses them, waits til the glow just went out, then pulses the steam off and I figured that would be snapping wires!

Oh I know per day it's not much, but chances are I would get tired of them after a month or less and want to change them. I have bought geekvape premade coils, in the past. Those were reasonable to take a chance on.
