Hey guys! New here and from what I've been told I made a bad choice.

Hey everyone!

Seems like a very knowledgeable group and maybe I can be pointed in the right direction.

I recently decided to take my vaping to the next level and bought a eGo CE4 kit. I thought I was buying a good kit and felt great about it.

Well....... after going into the forums I quickly learned what I bought was 4 year old technology and frowned upon by the community. All of the sudden I went from hero to zero real quick lol.

So I come to you the community to point me in the right direction. I have limited knowledge only what I've learned on the net after a few days research. So keep that in mind.

welcome to ECF, if your kit helps you stay off analogs then you are a hero.

that being said check out youtube reviews, read lots of forums and see what you want, there is TONS of mods (battery part with or without circuitry) and even more tanks so decide how much you want to spend and what you are looking for and go from there.

as long as it keeps you off ciggys its a good kit. though it may not be top of the line its what 90% of us really started vaping with. my advice is to keep vaping that and at the same time watch youtube reviews and browse the forum and decide what features you really want in a pv and which you can live without and what type you want and.. there is so much. and that is just a perfect device get your foot in the door. good luck and happy vaping and if you have anymore questions feel free to ask

Hello Nanman and welcome to ECF!

You could have done much worse, if it's any consolation. :)

Jokes aside--there's nothing wrong with a good eGo battery--you can get some better heads for it (with correct resistance--1.8-2.2Ω) and you'll be much happier. I don't care for anything CE... And they are indeed old technology, but you can use them in the meantime--they do work and they are disposable!

My recommendation would be to add some Kanger BCC clearomizers to your collection--T3S, eVod or (much more expensive) ProTank mini. Just for starters. And get some extra changeable coil heads.

In the future, you may consider adding a variable voltage eGo-class battery, like eGo-C Twist, Vision Spinner or iTaste VV V3 to your arsenal..

Experiment and you'll find what works for you in no time!

Good luck!

Welcome to ECF,

I just gave someone at work a similar kit, I also gave her a twist and pro tank to get her started. She is in week 2 with no analogs, so far that equipment has helped 3 people stop. I would not worry about it much, as long as it works. There will be may more purchases as you go along. Katya has provided a good direction for your next step up.

I also made a bad choice when I started. I think a great deal of us do because we are new, often uninformed, and often excited and prone to impulse buying.

For me, my first ecig was a Volcano Inferno kit. Costly. Very old technology. Recently I got my second battery which is an MVP version 2. The thing cost less than half my first purchase and does a lot more.

Hi nanman,
im new here too.
i have that "newb" fear similar to you.
however, i do believe, as long as no more real cigarettes, then it don't matter what you got.

for now, im viewing this whole vaping idea as a hobby.
so ... like you, i've started with something newby-ish (im starting with Halo's G6)
and i'll be sure to do research on heavy metal and decide some time down the road if i wanna go there or not.

just saying, pretty sure lots of "newbs" everyday starting this and the more of us there are, the better!
more demand, more manufacturing, more sales, more volume, less cost, more VAPE!

Welcome to ECF. And so far you have gotten some good advice here. I would spend the money on a protank or a protank mini. It is glass you can vape any flavor of juice without worrying about it cracking on you. Buy extra 1.8 or 2.2 ohm heads for it. What you have is a decent ego setup to get you started and give you time to do some more reading and asking questions here. Watch lots of youtube videos. Pbsuardo and grimmgreen are two of the top reviewers among many. They provide detailed and informative reviews and will give you pros and cons of what they review, because they all have pros and cons. Don't believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

Do some reading, watch some videos and then start asking questions. Go to a vape shop or two with no money to spend so you don't buy an expensive device you find out two days later you don't like. Look at what is out there. Try some juices. There is a learning curve. Give yourself a couple of weeks to absorb lots of info. Have fun with it.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with what you bought. Remember, almost everything in this industry is disposable...it will wear out eventually. When it does, if you like ir you can replace it, if not upgrade to something else. After 15 months, I still have a couple of CE4s in my stash, so you're not that far out of date...but then again, my cell phone is 5 years old and I just learned how to send a text, so my advice may not be the best. Now can anyone explain "bluetooth" to me???

I have been vaping for about 3 years now and still to this day I would get anyone new to vaping that same set up, its easy to use which makes it easy to switch from analogs. If you go overboard and it something you are going to have mess with all the time when you first switch then its easier for you to say screw it and grab an analog.

TL;DR
Nothing is a bad choice over analogs

Welcome sir Nanman to ECF. Anything you could wish to know about mods, atomizers, artomizers, genesis, silica rba, organic cotton, etc etc. The list could go on forever. If you are curious about something, say you look up the lavatube! A great little mod I have 2 of them! You can search mods to find reviews, or youtube the name of the mod or whatever! Anyways, I hope you find everything you're looking for.

Cheers

All of the sudden I went from hero to zero real quick lol.
No. The mod doesn't make the vapor. Doesn't matter what you're using as long as it isn't a cigarette my friend.

So I come to you the community to point me in the right direction. I have limited knowledge only what I've learned on the net after a few days research. So keep that in mind.
You can try starting off with a VV (Variable Voltage) mod, or VV (Variable Wattage). Most people that are starting off stick to VV mods, and a fantastic tank you could use is called a Vivi Nova. They are cheap and work QUITE well for their price. As for the mod the list could go on forever. I usually result to my Lavatube (the first model, not V2) mod the mod. However these days I use genesis style rebuildables, so I use Mechanical Mods. But anyways the basic categories for tanks are cartomizer tanks, silica tank (CE2,Vivi,etc), silica rebuildables, genesis rebuildables, and dripping atomizers.

Screaming hit the nail on the head! One of the biggest reasons that I have not been able to switch some of my co workers to e-cigs is because they see me constantly fiddling with my set up. Using this mod or that or swapping out heads ... even rebuilding some if work is really slow. They see it as too much of a hassle when all they need is just the cig a lighter. Start out simple and work on getting off and staying of the cigs. Read forums, watch videos, talk to other vapers, and learn all you want to about this ever growing phenomenon that is the vaping community.

As has been said by everyone else, there is NO shame in your game :) relax and enjoy the vape.

Egos work, they will get you there. Give the Aspire BDC Vivi Nova a try, it blows the kanger products out of the water and are only $10. Once you have tried a few juices, seen what works for you, then you might consider going to a voltage regulated devise. Many people are quite satisfied with an ego, and never venture further. Like said, the main thing is that you found vape, and more importantly, you found this website. There is a lot to learn, and always more to learn. One can chase clouds from here to heaven and never be totally satisfied, always looking for that next great Vape. Others are more than happy staying with what they have found that satisfies there needs and no longer need to smoke.

Everything you find is a matter of personal preferences. tastes and personality. You can make this a hobby and invest as much time, skill and money as you wish, or you can just be happy that you no longer smoke and leave it at that.

Welcome to the ECF, congrats on you first Vape gear set up, enjoy the reading, reviewing and getting way more confused than you already are. And most of all, enjoy a good vape.

Vape long and prosper.
