Hi all I am writing to ask the ever growing questions about what batteries are good to use. In my conquest to find a decent vtc4/5 I gave up trying to find an offical suppliers. I settled for a LG HG2. Which with great stats just isn't quite meeting expectations. I'm using a deathwish hybrid mod only with the unholy rda. Which might I add, am loving bulding on. I've got an alien clapton build readin at .27 ohms with 5 wraps. With my calculations is fine to use with a 20amps Hg2 but I'm left feeling underwhelmed. Any advice on getting a bit more power batteries or builds you could recommend?

There aren't any official suppliers for any Samsung, Sony, LG, or Panasonic/Sanyo batteries but here are some trusted vendors:

    www.akkuteile.de
    www.batterybro.com
    www.ecoluxshopdirect.co.uk
    www.illumn.com
    www.imrbatteries.com
    www.liionwholesale.com
    www.nkon.nl
    www.orbtronic.com
    www.rtdvapor.com

The Sony VTC5A hits about the hardest of any 18650.
0.27 ohms is pretty high for a single battery mech though. You're vaping at around 50W. Try bringing in down to 0.18 or so and see what you think. Or go dual coil with the 0.27 coils and use VTC5A's.

0.27 ohms is 13 amps from a fully charged battery, so yes it's fine with a 18 amp CDR cell.
Your underwhelming vape is because the coil you are using contains a lot of wire which in turn requires a lot of power just to light it up. I would switch out to a simple round wire build, focus on your wicking and airflow technique and keeping you mod as electrically efficient as possible through spotless cleanliness.

My goto build for a single battery mech is -
dual coil 6 wraps of 24G 2.5mm ID @0.25 ohms

I frequently run it with LG HE4s and it hits just fine for my liking.
Intresting you should say that I was leaning towards the HE4's just from recommendations.

Although I woundering if anyone can clear this up for me. How does the hit from one cell to another vary? Other than the amperage which gives you a lower posibility of build. If most batteries are on average a 3.7v why would one be more hard hitting than another? When the current is reliant on the deck?

To compare how one cell "hits" in relation to another of similar specs you have to go through Moochs bench tests and compare the pulse tests(if Im not mistaken). You will notice that in the batteries subforum Mooch has already compared some of the more popular cells side by side and shown(in graph form) how cell A "hits" harder than cell B. In a regulated mod the difference isnt really noticeable, where you really feel the difference is in a mech.

With a single LG hg2 I build .4-.5, single wire 26g for dual, 24g for single coil.
Giving about 50% amp headroom, to account for amp drop with an aging battery.
I wonder if I'm being overly cautious?
How much does the amp limit drop, due to age?

Capacity loss comes first and is much more apparent so we usually end up replacing the battery before the internal resistance rises rises enough to really start impacting the current rating. The current rating might drop 10%-20%, maybe, before then.

I took your advice and created a dual build at .19ohms. It's running great the builds clean and doing pretty much what I expected . Which is nice. Am a bit concerned it's close to the max saftey current on a fully charged cell. However I notice on your battery tests you mentioned the HG2'S can run up to 25 amps without taking any damage. So is running a build this low something I should be cautious of?

    Always be cautious. :)
With battery voltage sag though you're at about 18A...no problem. Just keep the wraps in perfect condition and stop for a while if the battery gets more than very warm.

And with an alien build, 3*27/36 ni80, 5 wraps on 3mm ID at about 0.14ohms, on a single tube mod (vgod pro mech mod) getting about 26.43 Amps, is it safe on a lg hg2?
Thanks for your support to the vaping community Mooch, your stats and graphs helps a lot understanding the batteries world!

Check my 18650 ratings table, link to my blog in my signature. If you are drawing much over my MVA limit then your risks go up. You can vape at much higher than my MVA limit but at increasing risk.
