Hi Guys,

im Gian, after 20 Years of Analog Cigarettes I quitted the 28th May. Startet vaping about en of April.

So i had many problems from quitting and sadly its not over. Hat crazy problems with my gums... bleeding etc. went to a Dentist for cleaning and its already much better but not yet good.

But the biggest and newest problem I have is, that I can't taste anything, no vape, no food, no drinks nothing... taste is completely gone.

I've found a thread from 2013 where someone describes the exact same problems, but its closed.

Has anyone experienced something like this too? I know, capers tongue... but its for sure not this... as I can't taste anything, not only my vapes.

Any idea?

thx
gian

Hi RodeoRides. Welcome to the ECF.

When I Switched to e-Cigarettes, I experienced some Loss of Flavor. Not a Total Loss. But Noticeable. The Good News is it Passed. And with Nothing Permanent to show for it afterwards.

Hang In there. And Stay Focused on Not Smoking Again.

Vaper's tongue for some will affect all spectrums of tasting anything anytime. Start brushing your whole mouth with a baking soda based toothpaste or just baking powder itself. You may a have several bouts of vaper's tongue along the journey but for most it will eventually stop happening.

    Welcome to Eckeff, Rodeo.

You lose quite a bit of your taste and smell (which is 80% of your taste) when you smoke. If you're a dual user atm (vaping and smoking), you may be prolonging your body from recovering. For me, it took a good 2 months or so to really get my smell back, and I switched cold turkey, all the while was coughing up some terribly nasty phlegm. Stick to only vaping if you're currently dual using, and maybe see if your results change in the next month or so.

My step dad quit cigarettes, but never started vaping. He lost all taste and it never came back. He thought it was from getting a certain tooth pulled.
I know this wasn't any help, just something I thought I'd share.
Hope you start tasting again !
    This is crazy!
