So I just got the dreamer mech mod and I love it but the black coating is coming off. I kind of expected it to happen just not after a week of use. Any tips on how to remove it without damaging the brass underneath would be greatly appreciated. It's not a cerakote but a powder coat not sure what approach to take. Thanks in advance

Sorry to say that i do not..But I own 2 of them..Mine is black over copper and as of yet (crossing fingers) has not came off at all..If I wanted to take it down to the base metal, I would most likely contact someone who does powder coating and ask them..
Sorry I can't add any additional help.. Did you pair the mod with the Lucid rda?

I don't know the process involved in stripping it down, it sounds like, however, it will be an easy finish to remove, if it's coming off on your hands and fingers.

Unless you really WANT the brass exposed, I might consider a return as well. You may get a replacement where the finish is more robust, from the sounds of things.

If not, I guess I'd start with a slightly abrasive powder and just use it manually. If that doesn't get you anywhere, I guess some machine polishing might. Brass can be a bit, well, you'll need exactly the right application of force, but not too much, to get it right.

Best of luck with whatever you decide. You could certainly get a professional to do it, but that may not be necessary.

Nah I didn't got for the combo and since I j7st noticed it last night I didn't really look at it all to well and sadly I can literally take my fingernail to a intact part of the finish and with barely any pressure scrape it off

If it's only been a week, couldn't you return it for exchange? I've been looking at these too and I think they were planing to make some improvements to the finish on the black ones.
I thought about doing so but really I wanted the naked brass to begin eith it was just sold out everywhere so I went with black.. just didn't expect it to be so fragile.

That little spec is from my fingernail so I'm guessing some light sanding with high grit and running water should take it right off I'll let you guys know how it turns out. I'm still contacting tenacioustx and timesvape to let them know about the issue but I wanted the brass to begin with so not a big issue with me

I think no matter what you ultimately do about the finish, it's a manufacturer's defect and you should hold them accountable for it. At least get it exchanged for a new one and then maybe sell it to recoup the funds to purchase the one you want. That, or maybe Timesvape would just even exchange it for the brass model. It should make little difference to them which one they send you as a replacement, especially on a defect call.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Sounds like the powder coater may have had some quality control issues. Baring returning it, might want to look up powder coater's/platers in your area and take the mod to the professionals. Shouldn't cost more than a few bucks and may be worth it. I suspect most vaping devices which receive a "decorative" finish, break down over limited amount of time/wear n tear. If you do take it down to the brass, might ask coater's/platers how to best keep it from tarnishing.

I may be not be clever enough to find them but this is one of the few threads I could find on the Dreamer. I haven't owned a tube mod since the early Silver Bullet days. I saw the Dreamer a few months back and finally pulled the trigger today and got a brass one. Any anyone have a suggestion on a atty to pair it with?

Loved the Silver Bullet. It's a shame they are no longer being manufactured. :thumb:

I do hope you are aware that the Dreamer is a hybrid top, or direct battery mod, and are aware of all that entails from a safety perspective. There is no 510 center pin.

The only type of atomizer that can be used on a direct battery mod is one which has an extended center pin in the 510 connector. Using a normal 510 connector without an extended pin will result in shorting out the battery which can lead to a battery venting or exploding.

Additionally, I could see no vent holes in the Dreamer. There are some fake holes within the fire button, but they would not allow venting of gas should a battery vent; the holes present are merely there to guide the fire button.

At first glance, there appears to be some vent holes on the outer edge of the fire switch. However, they are not vent holes at all, they are there only to help guide the switch slide down to make contact with the battery. There are some other holes present, but expecting those to be adequate for a catastrophic venting incident would be "optimistic" at best.

So, if a battery should vent, this mod is an enclosed metal tube with the gas having nowhere to go. It would essentually be a pipe bomb. IMHO, this would be a dangerous mod to use.

Be safe, my friend. Don't be this guy. First vape related death

Thanks, I'm thinking the venting is in the switch itself since it's not sealed. I only have one RDA over 22mm (a Vamp RDA 24mm) the pin defiantly protrudes that's what I'll start out with just looking for other ideas. I'm an old man and squonking is still my game, but some days I feel almost 20 again and want to chase some clouds.

I was originally looking at picking up a black one but after the reports of flaking finishes I decided on the brushed stainless.

I'm enjoying it quite a bit. It's a really well built mod for the money and for venting, there are definitely three holes in the switch. If you seal it up and then blow through the hybrid 510, it's about as much as a restrictive device to lung hit.

The above pic must be an early build or prototype because this is what mine looks like -

There are three guides for the button and three holes for venting.
