Hi all from sunny (?) Essex!

Hi everyone, well I'm a noobie to vaping and have to say I am nearly 4 weeks without an analogue! My hubby & I have given up smoking after over 20 years after our son was diagnosed with asthma (major guilt from our parts) and we decided enough was enough. We have started on Skycigs and we haven't touched a analogue since we started.

I'm sure I'll have lots of questions (I already have a few in mind) so will hopefully be picking some brains soon... Sam :)

Hello Sam. IF you can keep off the smokes with Skycigs, good for you.

I tried something similar and it didn't work for me. Plus, for the money, they are not good value.

Are you refilling the cartomizers or using a fresh one all the time? You can buy cartomizers for £4.95 in the UK, which make skycig expensive and E-lites, well let's just say £3.99 per refill ($6.70 for USA) is legal robbery; over a year, it's thousands of pounds.....

I fill my own tanks for 40p a day.

Thanks all, I am so proud we have given up the analogues but one of my questions is that we would like to upgrade as Skycigs are expensive and the batteries are useless! I have been trying to do some research and now have information overload and would like some suggestions to what to upgrade to! I was looking at an ego C4 and someone else suggested an evod. We would be looking for something easy to use and not too expnsive as we would be getting a kit each. Any of your suggestions would be greatly received! :)

Sam... if you want to upgrade (and I would suggest you do) what sort of budget would you consider?

I would steer well away from CE4 anything. CE4s are throwaway disposable tanks which are not universally good. Some of them are OK, but others are useless.

Look on MYEPACK in the UK.

b.t.w. eGo is the battery, CE4 is the tank (clearomiser). a £7.99 eGo/CE4 from home bargains or your corner shop is not a good investment.

The "best" eGo battery at the moment is probably the itasteVV v.3

We would be looking at a budget to start off with of about £30 - £45 for a starter kit....

Should be enough. The iTaste might be too expensive, but a mini Protank kit and an extra battery and clearomiser(s) could be done for under £40.

The evod tank (genuine one) is available for £3.49. Basic batteries are £8.99.

Hi, congrats.

Personally, I say take the 'hit' on the starter kits. They may do you perfectly, they may not be enough. Bare in mind they are the entry that many of us take now. I would suggest other things, but should they not be suited for you you'll be wasting even more money. eGo's are good for a simple to understand, simple to use turn-key application that doesn't break the bank.

A big factor. Do you two both go to separate places of work, and intend to vape apart from each other for long periods of the day? If you happen to be together for most of the day, I could probably make a few suggestions that'd save you some money.

To boot. vapescape and cloud9vaping are great UK sites to buy stuff.

mrslord.co.uk is probably one of the premier UK liquids. Pontefract Cake and Custard Cream are pretty highly regarded; if you like the sweet things. E-liquids make a huge difference to your experience.

To enjoy such a juice, get a disposable dripping atomizer or two with your starter kit. That'll give you a little taster into to what is possible beyond the starter equipment.

Thank you all for the suggestions so far.. Klutz unfortunately hubby is at work all day and I'm at home so would be vaping separately most of the day and vaping together in the evenings.

Right. Because what I would suggest is to consider a 'pass-through' eGo battery for home. This allows you to use them whilst they charge from a USB port on your computer or from a wall plug with a USB port (a few bob off amazon). So if they do need charging, your not left sod-out-of-luck.

That way you could probably get away with two batteries and just get two clearomizers. A good battery with 1000mah or there about should last a whole working day without issue; even for a pretty frequent vaper. Unless its consistent all day, but again could be charged in his car with a usb cig-lighter adapter or at a desk or whatever. The biggest issue is if it breaks, rather than battery life.

That should be enough to at least try, if it sounds like a reasonable option. If it works for you, get a spare battery or two, add some more clearomizers and buy a pack of heads for them.

One point I need to make, is that you should change juice flavours at least once a day or rotate in general. If you vape the same thing consistently you'll start to loose the ability to taste it! Hence, multiple clearomizers... for different flavours.

You could probably buy 2 pass-throughs (£30), 2 Kanger T3S (£10) or 2 Vision Ego V3 (£10) or one of each, and a selection of e-liquids to try. You could easily start from £40 from vapescape with that, and juice from anywhere. Bare in mind heads on clearomizers are disposable at a pack of them (and more clearomizers in general) are a good thing to have around; if going that route.

Providing others chime in with this idea!

Hi Sam, and welcome. Congratulations on giving up smoking!

I haven't smoked since almost 2 weeks ago now, and the e-cig has been a huge help!

I got myself a starter kit with an ego battery, which I'm really pleased with. I personally didn't like the CE5 clearos that came with my starter kit (like CE4s, but you can take them apart). I am, however, really pleased with my evod. Really easy to use. I got it from Myepack, and they seem very reasonable prices and quick to deliver. You may get away with one battery each to start with, especially if your husband can charge at his computer at work. Though a spare is always useful.

Buy a Vamo v3, don't waste your money buying ego style battery, eventually you would go for bigger mods in future, so get yourself a vamo v3 and Evod glass, a brand new clearomiser. Don't buy the kits, just buy single evod glass, and vamo v3 with a 18650 battery. £45 is more than enough for these.
