Seems to me that in most of the videos that I have seen regarding building coils for good RDAs, the builders use 28ga kanthal more than they use 32ga.
I have zero idea of the gauge numbers.

I use .2 and .25 kanthal. (Guessing .25 is 32ga). Best to have both i.m.o. I use both.

You are not to late at all.

I have no idea what Mr Mechanical is? :vapor:

I want to buy a some kit that helps me while I stop smoking. A change is as good as a rest.:)

My suggestion to you for a good starting point is a decent vw/vv mod like the iTaste v3 or the MVP2 even the innoken SVD would be good. I own both the MVP and the SVD and have a friend that has the iTaste V3 they are all very good starting points. I would advise against just right in the the Mechanical Mod world at this point. I know MVP and the SVD will fire at one ohm and on a regulated device you can't beat that. With the SVD you will need to buy some decent batteries, I suggest Sony VTC4, AW IMR, or EFests. A long with the batteries you will need a charger with that being said I own the xtar vp1 and it has suited me well. As for the kayfun it is a great atty I own a SvoeMesto one myself but when your new to building coils it can be frustrating at time just be sure to educate you self on the safety of building coils shorts, low ohms etc. and watch alot of build videos. I personally use a ~1 Ohm Micro coil in my kayfun on a mech and I know it will work on the MVP. Also if you do buy a VW/VV mod research a little on using the VW or the VV as this will help you enjoy your mod more. If you don't now VW is Variable Wattage and VV is Variable Voltage.

Edit:
Heres a comment I threw up on reddit a little while back in reference to building coils too. I hope this helps! Vape on! Vape Safe!

bevapehappy has a really good kit already put together. in the kit they have k100, sony 18650vtc4, nitecore itellicharger i2. i don't remember what rebuildable atomizer they have in the kit, $89.00 for the kit which ain't bad. also you can buy a vamo ring throw it on the k100 and use a 18650 and kick or kick2. a mechanical mod a kick is cheaper than a vv/vw (variable voltag, variable wattage) device. the evolv kick and evolv kick 2 are like $48 most places, the control head for most units are like $70 and up.

Mechanical just means no electronic parts. Besides a battery of course. Just a button that activates the Vaporizer and your vapin! No led screen just one button to satisfy your needs. Personally I prefer VV because you can always change your wattage/volts on the go to match your juice or tank so u don't burn coils/wicks or get the taste of Satan's rear in every hit. Check out some innokin box mods or a kamry k 200 it's small enough to through in your pocket and gets the job down with variable volts. Look into some telescoping mods so you can go from large to small depending on what your doing

i just want to note

be careful jumping right in to mechanical mods with rebuildables... if you want to go that route do the research i would not recommend this as a start... maybe start with an innokin i taste mvp 2 with the i clear 30 tank and go from there

Hope this helps!!

I don't have a SiD, but I do have a vamo.. somewhere along the same class of battery. One thing I've recently learned, is that most VV/VW batteries are good for single coil only (at least my vamo is). I tried creating a 1.2-1.4 ohm dual coil setup, and it failed miserably. The coil setup was good, it was just, the Vamo/battery setup I was using just couldn't put out enough power to run a good dual coil setup. Single coil, it works great, and it's the perfect item for me... but every once in a while, I would like to cloud it up, so I have my first mechanical mods in the mail as we speak.. now all I need is a high output battery and my dual coil dreams will be a reality.
