Hi all i am new to this forum having followed it's threads for a few years now figured i would sign up.

I have used ecigs on and off for a few years but without much success, to be honest mostly because of psycological reasons rather than side effects, the longest i went was 7 days before i fell for the trick of just having a cig now and then as a "treat" for staying on ecigs, well the day i bought the tobacco that was it again, and this has happened a few times.

The problem is i am only 26 and i smoke more than 80 rollups a day, i don't know anyone else on the planet who smokes as much as i do, ecspecially at my age, i started at 14 due to a older kid introducing me to it saying it was cool and not harmfull, i was talented fit and played football daily, within a year i quit football and did no excercise. Within the last few years due to life stresses and just habit now, the smoking has got so out of control, the cost for one and secondly my health, i can barely breath, i cant sleep for more than 30minutes without waking up to cough up gunk to clear my airways, i get chest pains and starting to get sinus problems.

I'm not overweight i'm quite thin for my height (6ft'1) mainly because i don't eat, that's because the amount i smoke i just don't really feel i have a apetite.

I don't like doctors ( no offence to any here) i believe in the power to cure myself, i do suffer with anxiety that i was put on anti depressants for, but i stopped taking because i felt like i was losing my sanity, not really fully recovered from them over 6months now (Quit cold turkey) but i will! I Won't take an anti depressant or any medication again if possible, it's just not for me.

Well i have a kid now and girlfriend, so i want to see the baby grow up to be a adult, I can feel within myself i wont last much longer if i don't take serious action, and take responsability for my life.

I joined this forum for support and also to learn more about E-cigs in general, i started with the basic disposable ones but looking to improve, hoping to keep updates on my progress too which can give an incentive.

Sorry if my post seems abit morbid, i am in no way morbid i am feeling determined and motivated right now.

Nice to meet you all and hope your E-cig experiences are going well.

Welcome Gambler! Glad you're here. As you've already found there is a ton of information here. Read as much as you can. It helps you get off the cigs if you buy top-quality gear to start with. The disposables probably won't cut it with as much as you smoke. You'll find lots of opinions about what would be best to start with. Take those opinions and go from there. You'll probably need to start with a pretty high nicotine level in your juice, too. All the best in your vaping journey!

Hello & welcome @TheGambler :)

I also used to be a heavy smoker, averaged 50 ready mades a day for many years. I also used to wake up in the night coughing & gasping for breath.

Please don't hesitate asking any questions.

BTW, it could help us to help you more with links etc, if you add your location to your profile :)

Hello and welcome to the forum @TheGambler. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below is a blog post by ECF member @Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping.
Here are a few more links from New Members Information <= Link covers many topics. Here are two of them:
Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Some juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Welcome @TheGambler . Desire is the first step. I can remember being skeptical 8 months ago and I was wrong. Vape can work, though I have no use for the cig a like type of e cigs, they failed me. I started with a cheap gas station vape and cheap juice. Then I found ECF and started "investing" in good vape gear and never looked back, free from the stinky's. I was a 2 to 3 pack a day smoker and it took me 12 days to find my nic level and get dependable gear so that I could put the cigs down. Clearly one of the best decisions of my life. You can do this!

Thanks for the support everyone.

Always good to see every new member on ECF as hopefully it means each & every one will become ex smokers or at least cut down. And as I'm also in the UK, it's especially good to see more folks joining from the UK :)

If you have any questions on anything you come across, just ask. We love to help people and explain those things that are very confusing to new vapers. :)
