New person here, getting to grips with this vaping thing, but it has gotten me off a 50-a-day habit in a weekend, which cannot be bad. Seems a shame that I'm just coming in as various vested interests seem hell-bent on needless regulation.
Anyhow, I started off with a COV mini volt and Aspire Nautilus, but rapidly went from that to an Evic mini and some Triton tanks (and find them pretty leak-proof), particularly liking the 0.5 Clapton coil. I find that the MTL thing is a bit throat-catchy, and prefer the cloudy thing.
I must admit that I'm totally confused about juice though - too much choice for someone who went from Capstan to B&H to Pall Mall over 20 years. Would love to have some recommendations as to where to go with that.

I did read some of the threads on Tritons before buying, interesting and informative, thanks, but would add that they work well if you are scrupulous about keeping drips out of the chimney (if that is what it is called) when you fill them. A twist of bog-roll down there when filling seems to keep things sweet.

Best...

Hello and welcome to the forum @EvilGraham. Glad to have you here!:)

I highly recommend you visit your local vape shops and "taste test" the flavors they sell.

Nicotine

A "general guideline" for nicotine concentration in e-liquid to the number of cigarettes smoked per day. If you are subohming (resistance under 1.0Ω) cut these nicotine levels by at least 50%.

06 mg = 10 cigarettes or less
12 mg = 20 cigarettes
18 mg = 30 cigarettes
24 mg = 40 cigarettes

eLiquid/Juice

PG = Propylene Glycol - the "flavor carrier" of e-liquid. A secondary source of "throat hit", but not as strong as the nicotine concentration. Some people have a sensitivity or even an allergy to PG. It's very thin.

VG = Vegetable Glycerin - the "vapor maker" of e-liquid. Used as a sweeter in many food sources, and also as a skin emollient. It's very thick. Often labeled just "Glycerine"

PG and VG are often used together in different ratios in e-liquid. For example, a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. Many juice vendors offer a range of different ratios as far as PG/VG.

Why, thank you kindly Sir. I've tried the useless patches, gum and Champix, and they are a waste of time. This stuff works.
I seem to be gravitating towards the somewhat strawberry/melony flavours, high VG and 6 nicotine. I did smoke like it was going out of fashion, but find the sub-ohm things a little bit more satisfying. Hint of aniseed/liqourice perhaps, might even thing a little more nicotine - hardly notice any buzz at 6. I've given my Nautilus tank to my wife, and will leave the more draggy MTL things to others - it doesn't really float my boat. The high VG juices I've tried so far are very mild, flavour-wise. I do run things at the lowest rated wattage for the coils though, if this makes a difference.
Evic Mini, Triton 2, 0.5 ohm at 40 Watts.

Welcome!

Have to ask - and in case anyone missed the location - what are your purchasing preferences as far as location goes? When we hit members from Europe some like to keep it very local, some folks buy international from all over the place.

Then you are up against that whole EU attempt at regulation mess - no idea how that is going to change your purchase options in the future.

Re: First DIY Order
How hard is it to get in to DIY liqiud?

Thanks for the kind words...
Being a smoker, it always seemed to me that you gravitated towards a naturally chatty and open bunch of people just by wondering outside and lighting up. It's nice to find that the same cameraderie exists with vaping, since having started I find myself with zero inclination to light another cigarette. I guess I shall now occasionally post things pointing out that the Aspire Triton 2 is a nice tank which only leaks if you are careless with it, and getting flamed for that :)
