Nice work, Scott.

Did you refill any of the cartomizers? Do you think these are the same cartomizers used by the Nebula/Vapor King models?

hi mate,

ive not actually refilled one yet but i did take one apart to see if it could be done............and it can!

using a pin, i popped the end cap off. underneath that is a rubber cap/bung which lifts out. once that is done you get to see the unusual atomiser set up.

there is no steel mesh or heating coil as such. instead its a straight metal pole that runs thru the centre of the cart. wrapped around the pole is the polyester wool.

so, if using a syringe i think it would be very easy to refill :D

ive not used the other models that you mentioned so im not sure about that.

cheers,

scott

ps......woohoo, just noticed this is my 1000th post :)

it looks very different to me , the DA-90 looks to have a male connector on the cartomizer and a female connector on the battery. With the VK/Nebula it's just the opposite of that

I have one of these. Yes, you can refill them, but the batting is actually a "test paper". The more you fill it, the more absorbent it becomes, and in the end, it will just clog. I have tried boiling them, but getting all the water out is not going to be easy, and when boiling them, the paper on the outside came loose, and it makes me wonder if any of the glue came off and seeped into the filler. I have tried taking the filler out and replacing with paper towel, coffee filter, and tea bags. None of them work very well because you cannot get them wrapped in a cylindrical shape around the atty. The lead wire gets in the way. Going to try some of the cart filler from my DSE901 in there to see if that will work. They do produce a decent amount of vapor when new, but again, the more you fill em, the more they just absorb....

It's male on the connector, as Grimm said, here's a pic from the vendor's site:
    disposable_atomzier_da.jpg

Another one claiming 200 hits per cart, and 300 per battery.

Good review, Scott, thanks. heir site seems like green = mint, and yellowish = tobacco...any other flavors?

It sure had me thinking 'this is "vapor King v2", possibly, and maybe with the description of it broken apart, perhaps it is. Anyone have a pic of the insides? :)

Anyone seen 'em in the US?

Another good review, Scott. Good job with being transparent with the fact of receiving it at no cost.

I think it's important for people to understand that when we receive product at no-charge it doesn't effect the review scores we give and you're doing a good job of that.

I've started into the realm of hardware reviews now, too...I'll be doing those as well as all of the liquids I still have to do...PM me with any input you may have, bro.

    cheers mate!

with regards to being transparent, i implemented the disclaimers over 2 months ago now to ensure people new what the score was.

reviews on "freebie" e-cigs get a verbal disclaimer

reviews involving discount codes get a written statement at the start of the vid.

reviews on "freebies" that also involve a discount code get the written statement PLUS a verbal disclaimer.

reviews on products that i purchased get bugger all! lol (unless they have a discount code attatched!)

    example:-

YouTube - REVIEW OF THE DSE901 "MINI" ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE

cant be much more open than that! :D

    cheers,

    scott

    hi mate,

with regards to the claims made by the supplier i would actually say on this occasion its at least partially true.
okay, the battery life is definitely exagerated but the cartridge life is fairly accurate.
like i said in the vid, i managed to get 165 five second long drags from one cart. now bare in mind they was five second long drags.........not everyone takes drags that long, so if i had just taken 3 second long drags i think it would have easily hit the 200. i should also point out that even though i stopped at 165, it was in fact still producing a fair amount of vapour. the reason why i felt that the cart had expired was because the taste had greatly dimnished and was leading to a slightly burnt/metallic taste which to me indicated that it was on its last legs! lol
i think i could have continued at least another 10 five second vapour producing drags.........though they would have tasted a bit rank!

i think that sometimes suppliers add slightly exagerated claims because they dont actually use the products themselves and therefore just go with what the manufacturer tells them...........you would be very surprised at just how many suppliers dont even smoke let alone use e-cigs!! my lips are sealed though ;)

though im sure there are some suppliers who add the claims knowing full well they are not true!

    cheers,

    scott

Yes, sir. I started makign disclaimers a while back, too. Until tonight, all I ever did was mention that the product was sent to me for free but I will start adding in the bit about how that won't effect the scoring.

Like I said, I think that it's important for people to know that.

definitely mate.......ive nothing to hide and the same goes for you 200%

    Correct you are, sir.

Though with my new foray into the world of hardware, I don't think I will be using that disclaimer much...At least not on this side of the reviews.

I don't think many U.S. suppliers are likely to send out free gear for reviews.

why do you say that? FDA problems?

i just recieved products for review from a US supplier only 2 days ago and on the customs declaration where it says "detailed description of goods" he had actually written "PIPE, CIGAR & PENS"!

not sure why he wrote "pens" though as it contained an e-pipe, e-cigar, e-cig and bottles of juice! lol

maybe the pens threw customs of the scent!! :D

    hahahaha

No, it seems that a lot of the U.S. suppliers (I'm not referring to many of the ones on this board) are all about making the dollar and are NOT willing to put their product up to scrutiny. I was attacked by a supplier who actually followed me to a different (completely non-e-cig related) forum (to attack me there, as well) after I made a comment about his product looking suspiciously like another sub-standard piece of gear.

I've seen a lot of that going around.

Pens, eh? Nice cover story :D

That's the exact forum in question.

    He's banned from there, now.

When he threatened to sue the forum (Which is owned by IGN entertainment) because I called him out on his product...that was legendary.

That particular forum is much more heavily moderated than this one (it has to be with close to 2 million site members) and the mods there don't take a lot of crap before they get rid of people. He was warned, repeatedly, and chose to push it, same as he did here with me in PM.

I have him on ignore now, though, so I have no worries :D
