Hi everybody,
Newbie here. IV been lurking around the forums for about a year now and decided to take the plunge and join up as there seems to be so many positive and supportive people here!
I'm mid 20s and have been smoking for 8 years or so. I'm on about 2 packs a day currenlty which is ridiculous!
My first experience with vaping was about 2 years ago when I saw a site selling cig-alikes and instantly bought one. Bad mistake I know. It sucked and I gave up pretty quickly.
Since then I've read through these forums and purchased a joyetech egrip 2 and joyetech evic basic kit, IV played with both but haven't used them everyday.
Im English but I live in western Australia and not only is nicotine a banned substance in Australia but ANY vaping equipment is banned in my state which makes importing both fun!
After umming and ahhing about whether I want to quick cigs IV finally decided to give vaping a real shot, and hopefully reduce and then completely do away with the stinkies.
Sorry for how long this post turned out. I look forward to chatting to loads of cool people here in the future.
All the best
Jake

Stols001 the idea of quitting straight out scares me I must admit , I'm hoping that by vaping more and more Il stop feeling that way. Thanks for the support :)

Told you this is a great place! I have been vaping (dual using) for about a month now. For me it is still hard to give up those last 3/4 cigs a day. Stupid, with the price we pay for here for cigarettes! Lots of people give up the cigs straight away. Then again, lots of people here dual use/d for some time and give the advice to 'count all the cigs you are NOT having'. This is a great way to look at it, so if this is what you are doing, don't let it get you down....it really is ok and one day you will stop the cigs altogether. WIN!

Queensland is rotten with the vaping rules too. We can import all the devices we like, but can only buy zero nicotine liquid. I have been running the gauntlet and have imported high dose nicotine (36mg) unflavoured and then mixed it with concentrated flavourings and PV/VG liquid bought here. You save a heap on postage that way. I get my liquid down to about 16-18mg by mixing. There are SO many delicious flavours out there as well. And it is fun to do. Got myself some amber glass bottls on eBay (for storage) and also some plastic needle tip bottles for carrying around for easy re-filling of the tanks.

I am sure you will really get in to it Jake. Keep asking those questions, have a really good read of this forum and all the different sections....all the time vaping away happily!

Don't worry, it terrified me too. I could only do it with the greatest of effort, and by reminding myself I was headed to COPD if I didn't quit smoking. There are some things you can do to make it easier, and one of them is to dual use and not put HUGE amounts of pressure on yourself to quit smoking, and also to not count the cigarettes you smoke, but the ones you don't. A UK study did state that the longer dual users kept vaping, the more likely they were to quit. So vape-- right before cigarette smoking, then pay attention to how the cig really makes you feel then vape right afterward to reinforce that you are a vaper.

There are some other tools that can be helpful in ridding yourself of those last few cigarettes, and if you find you need help with that, just shout out and I'll type out that information. Most vapers can quit without assistive e-juices (like WTA and Nic Salts nicotine) so I won't get into those unless you find yourself truly struggling, in which case I'll be happy to share my experience with them, as I found them helpful transitioning. But, you may surprise yourself, and do fantastic without any of these aids. Remember, every quit is different!

The more you read and learn to use your equipment, the more likely you are to become more successful.
Might want to try the ECF search function in upper right hand corner of this post. Could type in "Joyetech eGrip II" etc..

Thanks for the advice and support :)
Iv really loved the idea of vaping for about 2 years and love tinkering with the equipment. IV got a ton of juice and also imported nicotine so am well stocked :)
I learnt how to build RDAs and rdtas thanks to this forum, and have more tanks, coils and spare parts than you can shake a stick at :) iv just never taken the plunge to commit to vaping fully.
But now I'm feeling really confident, especially with awesome people like your self to help point me in the right direction :)
Hopefully Australia will embrace vaping soon, and we can stop worrying about customs seizing our nicotine!

Possum64 and Stols001 thanks for the advice :) when you explain how your experience with dual using and not putting huge pressure on yourself has helped you it really gives me a confidence boost! :)
Your right, after I have a cigarette and then vape, I realise how much more satisfying vaping is!
Thanks so much to everyone who has welcomed me, it means a lot! Il be sure to post how I go!
