Hi everybody. I have been smoking for over 20 years and I am totally new to vaping. I look forward to chatting with you all and getting some good advice on future purchases so here is my story.

I just ordered a disposable kit online yesterday from Luci to see how I would take to it. I smoke about 10 - 15 cigs a day so I'm really hoping this will help me kick the habit. Shortly after I ordered the Luci, I came across the Totally Wicked e-liquid site and looked up reviews for the Titan 510. After seeing almost all positive reviews I ordered the compact starter kit for $26 shipped. A small price to pay for my health if these things do in fact work. There are two main things I am looking for in an e-cig. Firstly I need a really good throat hit. Without that it's useless to me. And second I want vapor, vapor and more vapor. So far from what I've been reading the 2 top e-cigs are Green Smoke and White Cloud. White Cloud is a bit pricey at $250 and Green Smoke is a bit better at $149 but they both have stellar reviews. So why did I go with the Titan 510 you ask? Well from the reviews I saw for it, it looked like a solid quality product at a decent price. It has good vapor and a decent throat hit as per the review so for $26 shipped, it was a no brainer. Now, that being said, if I do like these things I'm probably going to invest in a more expensive unit but I'm not doing that until you all give me some feedback on your experiences with what you all have. If you don't mind that is.:)

Oh and btw I was in my local mall today and tried out the "smoke free" e-cig. It was ok but not a lot of vapor or a big throat hit. Then again I don't think I really know what I was doing being my first time and all. If any of you have the smoke free cig I'd love to hear your opinion. (Smoke free is actually the brand name)

Thanks in advance guys (and gals)

Hey Pep,

I was pretty much in the same boat. 20 year smoker about a pack a day, after doing a bunch of research on here. (Man is that daunting at first) I went with the joy510 basically based on the videos by MistressNomad
Here Got it today from electronicstix.com. It arrived around 2pm I smoked 2 cigs while waiting for it to charge and have not had another cig since. I LOVE IT. Hope it works as well for you.

Welcome PepNYC, I too started with a 510 in October, I originally ordered a Blu set up, but canceled it after finding ECF and instead went with the 510, and then stepped up to the ego. I think one of the most important things for me was to start with a high nic level (30+), as I was a pack and 1/2 a day smoker. I have read allot about people not getting the nicotine they hoped for and giving up for analogs again. I have since gone down a bit (24) and really stick with the DIY juice, witch by the way Totally Wicked has some great juice and concentrated liquids as well. anyhow good luck to you and stick with it, it can work for you.

thanks,
Jeff

PepNYC Welcome to the forum!

Alright, heres what you need to know.
You should NEVER buy an ecig kit that costs more that like $70, and if you are buying a mod (which you will naturally progress to most likely) for more than $120 or so.

The best e-cigs to have a great experience with on your maiden voyage are going to be probably a 510 model ecig. A lot of companies rename them something but for the most part they are all Joye 510 ecigs with the companies logo or model name on them. The 510 makes a lot of vapor and lasts a decent amount of time. I recommend getting the PCC (personal charging case) with them. I have a blog dedicated to helping people just like you break into vaping, and heres a post all about the 510 My Story With The Joye 510 E-Cig | eCigology

Please explore the blog, read the juice reviews, check everything out. It is all written by me and my best friend and we were both smokers for a long time, and we are just trying to spread the cause.

Some other tips:
There are juices out there that are amazing. Check out our juice reviews for information on good juices, we typically only review juices we love, and we both have tried over 100 different juices from at least 10 different vendors.... certain vendors rock, like backwoods brew and johnson creek. Here are some reviews:
Backwoods Brew Maple Tobacco | eCigology
Johnson Creek Red Oak Domestic Blend | eCigology
Vapor Station Tennessee Blend | eCigology

If you have a any questions about anything just send me a personal message on the forum or an email on the blog, I would be more than happy to help you along the way!

Hey there and welcome! I remember looking at GreenSmoke too when I started researching a couple months ago, but there really isn't any need to spend $100+ on a starter kit. Good thing you stumbled upon something better first! Personally, I went with the 808, but I'm sure you've already found out the the 510 has a huge following. As far as hardware goes, I think LiteCigUSA is excellent, but I don't have any experience with 510 equipment. The ECF is a fantastic resource and people here are extremely helpful. Good luck with all your vaping escapades!

Welcome Pep to the forum and the wonderful world of vaping.
I am a 30 day noob and I am thankful for this site. I quit analogs only after 2 weeks of vaping. I was a 1 1/2 pack a day menthol smoker for 30 or more years.
I cannot personally comment on your model of choice at this point, because I have not used those.

I respectively have to disagree with previous comments on the "proper" price one should pay for a model/unit/vaporizer/ecig.

I read here as well as other sites and learned, learned and learned......, before I bought my first unit.
I spent more than the $70 and the $120 suggested "no more than" price, on my first vaporizer/ecig.

My 50+ hours of research showed that many of the more experienced vapors had moved up to a different type unit over time and with useage and trial and error experience.
Not all, but many, many had.

And why??? Better throat hit and vapor.

And that was 2 major things that I believed that I wanted a ecig to give me, to somewhat replicate the analog menthol experience, that I was addicted to at that point.

Next on my list was durability and construction and longer battery life. Longer battery life will become VERY important to you, once you get started. My resarch showed that battery life was one of the reasons many had "moved up" on their choice of units/ecigs.

Allthough I originally thought I wanted my model/vaporier to "look" like a real analog.....that quickly went away.....research showed that many of the "pros" did not give a hoot about that. Vapor and Throat Hit was where it was at!

I then calculated what I spent a week on analogs.....low end $70 and high end $90
Then I made my "own personal decision" of what I thought was a dollar value that I was willing to pay for.
It was more than the above suggested "no more than" price.

The unit/ecig vaporizer I bought has "paid" for itself, within 2.5 weeks, once I was completely off the analogs.
I love the vapor, I love the throat hit that I get and I love the battery life.

Could another model that cost less have done that...??? I don't know. I just know that I fully believe that the money I spent over the above suggested price, was well worth every penny, to me.
So the moral of my story is:
What works for one, does not always work for all.
What one person's budget is, may not be the next persons.
And what person's idea of value...is not always the same as the next persons.

I chose a ProVape and I was competely off analogs......12 days later.
And I spent more than the posts above "suggested" "pay no more than" price.

Good money decision....bad money decision ??????
For me, one of the best money decisions I've made in my life.

Isnt the ProVape $99? I think we are just trying to make reasonable recommendations... There are a lot of scam type companies out there charging $200 for basically a 401 e cig set up which you can buy for $40-50. Of course quitting smoking is worth A LOT, but if you can get things for less money, that seems wise.

Haha. Good one mlinky. I think I stood there for about 30 minutes talking to the guy in the mall knowing that he was way over priced and the product probably wasn't as good as most others. It was just that fact of having it in my hand already. He was trying to sell me on the fact that with him I didn't have to wait for shipping. He even pulled out this huge binder full of testimonials. He really had his sales pitch down pat. I am so excited to try mine I almost couldn't wait. So here I sit...waiting....hopefully it will get here either tomorrow or Saturday.

Just out of curiosity, and don't be ashamed to admit it, has anyone purchased the one at their local mall? The one the guy was selling at our mall was called "Smoke Free". I'd really be interested to hear if it's even a halfway decent product.

I got nailed by a mall nazi myself. $120 later, I had a device that despite being way over-priced is actually an ok little performer. Most importantly it got me off the analogs and here to ECF. I've since moved up to an eGo and keep the rn4081 for use in the car. Again, not a terrible product, but certainly priced incorrectly. ;)

Say what you will, but I maintain that even $200 is worth it if it starts someone off in the right direction and gets them off the stinkies. Sure... since we all toy around on ECF, we know better NOW, but how many people started off with a kiosk brand and found their way here? I don't regret the buck deuce I dropped on the kiosk. My pocketbook does... my lungs thank me.

Well, what happened was I ordered a disposable cig from LUCI for $12 to see if I would even like it. I just got it today and let me tell ya...I don't like it. I freakin LOVE it! Shortly after I ordered the disposable, I found the titan 510 starter kit for about $28 shipped from totally wicked so I ordered that one too. The titan hasn't arrived yet but man I can't wait. I am so excited. However, I have a feeling i'll be upgrading very soon to the ego. I like all the positive stuff I've seen about the 510 and i really like the idea of the bigger battery and the parts are interchangeable with the 510 so its all good. I'll let ya know how it goes once i get it. Wow, these things are life savers. I wonder how long it will take me to totally get off analogs. Although I have the LUCI, I still feel my self craving an analog here and there. I guess that will fade with time though. I'm just gonna go with it and see what happens.

For when/if you order the Ego-A quick vid to help you get started.

Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you along the way! It is for anything atomizer related-really.
Follow any and all instructions for charging your batteries. If you do not charge as required in the information packet-you void any warranty you may have on your chosen product!

Boy, Hz, where were you 15 minutes ago when I decided to dewick and debridge an atty for the first time?! I kept thinking to myself, "Self... why are you so concerned with potentially breaking a $6 part when you used to blow $9-10 a day on analogs?!"

Just for the record, I think it turned out alright. Certainly a lot warmer vape, that's for sure.

I have a similar history with analogs. 23 years @ 1.5 pad. I tried the disposable PV's for about 2 weeks. I found the ECF and MistressNomad's videos for broke newbies. She knows her stuff. I decided to go with the 510. I dropped the "stinkies", good one Jmitchelliv, the same day I received the 510. I haven't looked back at an analog for 3 days. I made a slight slip this morning and lit a bummed stinkie from a co-worker, tasted the burnt death within and immediately put it out. I hope you have as much luck with it as I have.

Happy Vaping

As a veteran vaper, I am not allowed to start threads in the new members forum. I can however respond in a thread.
I have used a few setups in my year of vaping and am more than happy to make a vid explaining and showing what I can to help someone out.
A few pv's I have tried are: Joye510, Dse901 and 801, KR808D-1, Carlos Juice Box with 801 atomizer, Lazer Mod 510, Chameleon w/801,901,510 adapters at 3.6v,5v,6v, Precise10 aka P10, Precise18 aka P18, Variable Volt Little Sister, Phidias Bottom Feed, Black Box 3.7v-5v mods, Ego 650mAh and 900mAh all with accessories and I am awaiting the Ali'i variable volt box mod---should be here in a few days, tomorrow I hope.
I still own all of them and would never sell any of them. They all have a special time and place for use.
If you ever have a question on any of the above devices, let me know. I'll load up a vid and give you a peek. LOL.

IT CAME IT CAME!!!!!! I got it yesterday. I am so stoked. So this is what I got. Ordered the Titan 510 Compact starter kit. Now the reason I only ordered the compact starter kit was because it was only $20 and I figured I could get a very good feeling wheather or not an Ecig was for me or not. I kinda knew it was going to work from using the disposable but I ordered them both at the same time so no biggie. So I received 1 atty, 1 batt, 3 empty carts, 1 USB charger and 10 ml of Tobacco flavored e liquid. I bought the high 16mg liquid with the intentions of tapering down withing the next few months. Maybe even weeks. We'll see how it goes. I'm going to hold off on an extra batt for now because I might be upgrading to the tornado/ego very soon. But I will be ordering an extra atty seeing that they both take the same one. Nothing to lose there.

Ok, so now for the questions. My first question is about the carts and dripping. So do i have to drip the 3-4 liquid drops in these empty carts every time I want to vape? And same thing with the atty. Do I have to prime it with the 2-3 drops every time I want to vape? Seems like a lot of work every time I want to use my PV. Don't get me wrong, I do realize the benefits regardless of the work involved but I'm only asking because they say a pre-filled cart can last anywhere from 5 to 15 cigs. But I only get one from a cart I fill myself? It just don't make sense to me.

My second question is about the batt. Now seeing that I only have one I have really only been taking it off the charger to vape. I'll take it off, vape and screw it back on. Although I did take it with me to dinner last night and again today to a co-workers house but when I got back home....I put it right back on the charger. Is this bad? Should I be letting the batt totally die out before charging? I know they say some have a "memory" and they'll remember where you start charging them and eventually diminish the life of the battery significantly. I don't think these Lith-Ions have this issue but I figured I'd ask anyway.

Thank you in advance to all of you for being so helpful. Now off I go to view some Mistress Nomad vids.
