This is my first post here at ecf. I'm new here but I'm very familiar with message boards. I think I've read enough of the rules and policies so that I won't get kicked off or told to sit in the corner :)

I'm sooooo happy to have found ecf..so many answers to all my questions. I have officially stopped smoking December 19, 2011...I can't tell you how liberating it feels! After 30 plus years of smoking I picked up an e-cigg and I have never looked back.

There were a few things that surprised me..as in how much I used analogs as clocks. "I'll finish this ciggarette first then start dinner" doesn't mean anything now :) Taking a break at work...I now have to actually look at my wrist watch. It's taken a little bit of adjusting..that was probably the strangest thing to adapt to..that along with not actually lighting the end of an analog :)

I just tell my friends and loved ones...it is different..it's a trade off and I just had to be ready..and wow am I ready!

Ok...so I have to ding around with batteries, make sure I have enough supplies on hand because most of the purchases are from the internet, deal with the DIY learning curb..which is so totally worth it. In time this will be just fine as I adapt to everything. I've come a long way already.

And what do I get in exchange?? Wow oh wow! No more guilt smoking near relatives and loved ones who have health problems. I can rent a car, lease a car, stay in a hotel room in any state. I can smell and taste things better than ever. vape in the car with co-workers on our way to lunch. I can wash clothes and they smell fresh until I wear them again. I have variety in choosing what to vape..more menthol! Yeah! So many flavors to choose from..it makes it all more interesting and fun. And the vaping experience is sooooo close to smoking for me. Better than I thought it could ever be.

I honestly don't know how much I'll be posting..we'll see how long it takes me to get out of the new member forum :) It may take awhile. But I'm here reading just about every day. I just thought you all would appreciate knowing how you help to contribute to this wonderful new change in my life. Thanks so much!

Lightseeker, what model was your first e cig purchase?

Thanks azzaman and CES for the nice welcome..I don't know that I'll be able to keep up with thanking everyone..so thank you all in advance.

I bought a safe cig. Now since I started vaping I have ordered additional batteries and blank cartonizers from other sources to save money. It's just important to me mentally (at this stage) to have something that looks like an analog. I even have my ashtray sitting next to me to rest my e-cigg in. I've been happy with it. This is good for me right now..who knows what the future will bring..I may end up making my own from scratch..the kind that looks like a box :)

If your setup works torr you, nothing else matters! I wasn't saying I thought you should switch what you already have. I bought a blu which didn't work well for me. I had to do a lot of tinkering to get it to work and even then it was hit or miss most of the time. Even now I buy new ones to change it up a bit. I have different pvs for my different moods, and different sittuations. It's a learning curve and you may find that it turns into a hobby. I think I've actually spent more money vaping than I did smoking, but it's well worth it!

I didn't think you were trying to get me to change..I apologize for sounding that way. Everyone has their favorite ways to vape...there's so much to it, there's something for everyone. I checked out blue...I saw some videos about it but the whole social networking thing is a bit much for me. Others I'm sure do like the social part of it and making connections. I'm more of a loner. I'm to the point now where I'm drastically cutting back on spending money. I have a good base to play around with. I did order some more menthol but that's it for now. I thought about getting a pass thru but it can wait.

Welcome! Please tell us your devices you own and experiences in what you have learned or any questions you may have?

I've only tried safe cig but then I purchased 5 other batteries separately from different online stores. 3 of them are mega batteries. Just recently I realized I could charge my battery in the usb hub that is plugged into my computer. I can shut my computer off and the battery keeps charging. It's the little things that make me smile :)

Another thing I realized..check to see how much nicotine was in my analogs (Virginia Slim menthol 120 light or ultra light) I was ordering flavored nicotine ejuice that was far more powerful. Ooooops. I've dialed it back now especially with DIY.

Questions..I do have a question. Safe cig batteries were very easy to charge. You plug them in..the tip blinks 3 times..pink turns to blue it's done. It's not the same with the other batteries. One battery the tip stays lit the whole time and the light always stays pink. Others..the tips blink. It seems that with all of them the light never changes to blue. I just guess it takes 90 minutes like the safe cig does. I'm not sure how long the mega batteries take to charge, probably longer? Also safe cigs talks about how the battery shuts off so you don't over charge it..I'm not sure if the other batteries do that or not.

Thanks again for the nice welcome..great group here! And thanks to anyone I might have missed on this thread.
