Hi all, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
I'm a 30 year old from England and have been smoking from about the age of 14, I was smoking 20/30 a day. I started vapeing about 14 weeks ago now, its the best, I have tried other ways to stop smoking and found none that worked until now. I got myself a vivi nova tank, I think it is, with 2 batterys (one says EGO-CE4) from a guy from the local market.
I've had a few problems with it, battery fallen apart and top of tank snapping but I did buy from a market stall
I have been looking at making my liquids and have been looking a mods (no idea where to start on that one)

So I am here to learn and hope you guys don't mind me asking dumb questions

hello and welcome to ecf and to vaping. congrats on kicking the cigs.
i dont know much about making your own liquid(diy) but i do know about mods. lol
what style are you looking for? mechanical, box mod, or tube mod. any dna 20 mod is awesome in my opinion. most are box mods with a few that hit the market recently that are tubes. then you have the provari which is also a very solid device which is a tube mod. and then you have mechanical mods. which there are plenty of its just finding the one that you want. mechanical mods are unregulated meaning that you get the raw power from the battery but you dont get as consistent of a vape because your volts drop off as your battery dies. and then you could just be looking for a beginner device to get you into the world of vv/vw. there are many out there like the mvp2 or the evic or the vamo all of which i think are good choices. with these pv's you will need batteries and a charger as well as an atomizer. something like the protank2 would be a good start and get you set in the right direction.

Welcome to ECF! Glad you found us!

The best answer I can give is to use the search function. I know it's not what you want to hear, but it really is the best thing that will help you along the path of vaping. For every question you ask, and for every answer you get, a dozen more questions are going to pop into your head. The fastest way to get the answers you want is to search.

That being said, let's get into your original questions...

Your batteries are falling apart because they are most likely knockoffs. They aren't original product. Do some research and get yourself some quality gear. You can actually find it for probably as much as you spent on the gear you have, and it will last a lot longer. The key point is you need to decide what gear you want. If you're looking for mods (as you've already said) then a 510 battery setup will probably be your battery of choice. Assuming of course that you actually want to use mods to begin with. You might be surprised to learn later that mods aren't what you were looking for after all. Or maybe they are. Who can tell?

My advice, start small, but be ready to experiment. Don't just think about dumping huge amounts of money in a Provari and the latest tank mods. You might not need to go that far. No one can say that you need to look into low resistance drip mods with a variable voltage/wattage setup. You need to see what works best for you. You might prefer to use a standard resistance clearomizer with a high PG juice. Or you could prefer a low resistance dripping atty with a VV bat to use with juices ranging from pure VG juice for one flavor to a 50/50 blend for another flavor.

As much as we want to answer all the questions you have, it's just no possible. As I've learned, entering the world of vaping requires MORE patience and experimentation than money.

Thus use the search function. It will serve you well.

And also of course don't be afraid to post. We'll help where we can, just we might not be able to help as much as we, and you, would like. ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome. Wow, really didn't know there was so much to think about with mods, I've only just started looking in to them and now I'm getting totally lost.
Really loving this site, its full of so much information that I would never have known. Yea I guessed it was knock off stuff but at the time I was skint and in real need to quit so the guy was just there and I felt it was worth the cost to give it a try (think it was only about £30 for tank, 2 batterys, 2 wicks, charger, 2 liquids and a case) I think its one of the best buys I've made, even if it was knock off gear :D

yea thats not too bad and especially if it got you off analogs(cigs). another option that is cheaper than those other devices would be an ego twist or somthing like that. you can watch reviews on youtube about a lot of stuff and really help you get to where you are going. try pbusard, or grimmgreen. they have some really good reviews and they really help make sense of things

Welcome to ECF. This whole vaping thing and mods and attys and clearos and types of batteries is real confusing in the beginning. I did a lot of reading at first and after 2 weeks of driving everyone nuts with questions and watching at least 20 youtube videos on different setups I chose the Vision Spinner 1300mah with 2 Kanger Evods, extra heads at 2.2ohm and a Joye 510 atomizer to drip into. I bought two of everything. Over 4 months later I am still using them, pretty much problem free. A little more expensive than plain ego batteries, but dependable and have the variable voltage (vv) so I could decide if I wanted to spend more money for a mod down the road. I got an MVP2 last week and love it. I spent that couple of months using the Spinners to read and learn how to use my equipment and to vape. And to research what my next step in vaping was to be. I have wasted no money, except for juices and flavors I do not care for. Those I trade to try other new flavors.

You will find what will work for you. What I did worked for me. I stopped smoking with no equipment hassles and lots of juices to try out. It works. You can make this as easy or complicated as you want. You can spend a lot of money trying everything or pick a couple and learn about them. I had good luck paying a little more for name brand stuff. It still works.

You are going to do just fine.
