Hi there,

I recently purchased a starter kit from Volcano after buying one of their disposable ones to try out to see if I enjoyed vaping. I thought the disposable one was good, easy draw but not a lot of vapor so when I decided to take the plunge and buy a real starter kit I was convinced that it would work even better and produce lots more vapor. I ordered the kit with the new cartomizers and mistakenly ordered the carts that wouldn't work with my kit because i need a separate atomizer!! Arrgh! Noob mistake #1!

Anyway, I tore into the kit when I got it and screwed on a 0 nic Bluewater Punch cartomizer and got right into vaping away. The disappointment was instant!! A light draw on it resulted in NO vapor and no taste at all! I took it slow and steady, and the light lit up intermittently and I got a bit of vapor out of it and I wondered if it was some kind of joke! My disgusting Logic e-cig produces a ton of vapor but tastes AWFUL!! I read some more on the forums, charged up my batteries, and tried again the next day. I find I get a better amount of vapor when covering up all the holes where you screw the pieces together, but still, it's just not a satisfying vape. Barely any vapor and it tastes like nothing. I chose the 0 nicotine since I gave up smoking 4 years ago and for some reason the urge has come back strong and I wanted to try vaping after reading so many great things about it! But right now I am so disappointed!!

I decided to not give up, I ordered some ejuice, (Vanilla and Cotton Candy), a drip tip and an atomizer from Volcano and I am hoping that this might help me enjoy the kit more.

I feel like I'm trying to suck a bowling ball through a drinking straw with this thing!! I saw a great review for the Mystmasters Mach II on youtube done by a lovely girl named Stephanie and she looked so happy with hers and with the ejuice from Gourmet Vapors! Anyone using one?

Has anyone else tried the Volcano kit and been really disappointed? Does it work better with dripping?

I don't want to put out more money on another ecig right away so any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's possible you solved your own problem by ordering juice, an atty, and a drip tip. That would probably be a huge relief for you! The only other thing I can think of (unless someone with real knowledge here does come along soon) is perhaps sending a message to Stephanie on Youtube. Sorry for being no help -- other than bumping this so it doesn't get lost. Welcome to ECF! :)

Thanks for the welcome Sophie! I really hope that ordering those accessories will help! :)

Hi and welcome to the ECF :)
Don't give up just yet....When you get your new atomizer, make sure to blow it out really well from the battery end into a paper towel. They can be pretty foul tasting from the factory. Put a couple drops of juice in it and screw it on your battery and try it out. It may take a few draws and a couple more drops to get the taste right. If it gurgles and doesn't work its flooded. Take it off a blow through it again.
You'll figure it out :)

Thanks for the warm welcome and the tips on dripping! I will be sure to follow those steps and let's hope it results in a better experience for me! :)

Just so you know, the volcano is a 510 threaded device.
Translation- You can use 510 cartomizers on that thing. 510 cartos are thicker and may not fit in the pack well and will look a little out of place on the batteries.
SAFTY WARNING: Volcanos are reverse polarity so do NOT switch chargers around.

In theory, 306 cartos should be able to work, but I cannot attest to how well. I had issues in the past with 306 cartos on my Blu (an almost identical item).
If you try the 510/306 cartos, be sure to get the standard resistance type (SR, 2.8ohm, or 3.0ohm).

What kit did you get? There is Volcanoecigs sells the Magma and that is a 510. And there is some other "Volcano" model there and I don't know what model that is. It has female batteries and I know there is a PCC that looks like that and works with both 510 and RN4081 so if Volcano is not 510 then its probably RN4081?

1. Are you aware that some juices are just weak or crappy - not every juice is great. And that 0 nicotine juices with have no throat hit.

2. This is how I fill good standard cartomizers. All of the ones I buy have a defined center air channel and soft cap, and no inner seal. I use juices with 20% or less VG. Any more is too thick for me in slim ecig cartos - I can feel the drag degrade and the cartos don't last as long for me if I use higher VG. The 20% VG adds MORE VAPOR. If you have a 100% PG juices then you will get less visible vapor vs even 10% VG.

How I fill Vapor4Life KR8 cartos and Boge 510 cartos

Pop out the soft cap with an unbent paperclip in the mouth hole, very careful not to catch stuffing or the wire loop.
Shake and open the eliquid
Hold a bit of tissue on the threaded end hole, tilt the carto, and add 18 drops per ml of capacity into the stuffing (Boges and most KR8 cartos are about 1ml).
Wait 15 seconds or so then see how many more drops the carto stuffing will soak in easily.
Clean up the threaded end, tilt open end down into tissue, puff into threaded end to clear air channel (Boges and the KR8 cartos I use have a defined center air channel and I want to see light through that)
Sop up any loose juice above the stuffing
Cap and let it settle - I lay it on different sides for 15-20 minutes to make sure every bit of stuffing gets damp so I won't singe the carto. if you use thicker juice than me (I use 20% Vg or less) then you may need to wait much longer.

While vaping, if the vapor gets a bit light or a bit dry or the carto is getting hotter than normal, I take the carto off the battery and add eliquid. I sometimes use a plastic or delrin drip tip as a mouthpiece on Boge and KR8 cartos (not to drip into since the juice would head for the central air channel)

Volcano- l88b (just like the Blu)
Magma- 510 clone
Inferno- eGo clone or what Rizzer said in post 13

I bought the regular Volcano kit, it's their most basic model and starter kit.

Hmm, I didn't know that about 0 nic juices, but I do seem to feel a bit of a hit if I keep my fingers over the threaded opening, in fact that's the only way I can get some vapor! If I don't, I hardly get a thing out of it!

Wow so that's probably the problem, they use all PG and I barely see a thing. I've been eyeballing the juices at Gourmetvapors.com and I know they use an 80/20 PG/VG mix.

That sounds VERY complicated for a noob! lol. I'm hoping the drip tip and atomizer will help. But thanks so much for the great information! I will save it for future info if I get further into vaping!
