Hi, greetings from a more-than-a-year-and-a-half-and-counting-vaper/ex-long-time-smoker from the Netherlands :)

I'm still enjoying my vape-pen-devices (currently justfog Q14), sometimes the joyetech ego aio, but found sub-ohming not really my cup of tea.

Due to PG sensitivity I'm vaping max VG, between 6 and 12 mg/ml nicotine. I adore the Virgin Vapor juices (although we don't have that many flavors over here), but also started to mix my own.

In a month I'm hoping to enjoy my first RTA & mod as well. Slowly progressing to DIY all the way, somewhat forced by EU TPD regulations I'd like to future-proof my habit.

Welcome. I have switched entirely to DIY as of a month ago. I wanted to be all set by 19th November 2016.
It seems the more important date is probably May 19th 2017.
Anyway... I have enough base liquid to last 5 years now. It's not that much when I can just about get away with 4.5mg liquid. I struggle on 4.5mg, but getting from 12mg to 6mg was painless. :)

Hello, tsiis, and welcome to ECF! Future proofing your habit/hobby is probably a very good idea. DIY should also save you quite a bit of money!
Thanks for welcoming me @ghola1was :)

Yeah, the money-saving part is something I'm telling my future-self as well, but for now I've had a hard time to keep myself in control with my new DIY hobby ;-)

Thanks @djsvapour :) I'm jealous of your/UK regulations, they seem so much more relaxed compare to ours (it could have been worse though, there are more restrictive countries). Good luck on your decreasing-nicotine endeavor!

Thanks @Eskie :) I'll check the DIY section for sure!

Welcome to ECF and best wishes with your vaping journey. Have fun with DIY, embrace it, smile while your mixing, accept the learning curve as every mix is not going to be to your liking. That's all part of the journey. Start with a few simple mixes with say two or three flavors which will help your confidence.

Good luck!
:)

Thanx @SeniorBoy :) I'll definitely start simple, right now I'm just mixing single flavours to get my palette started (although I'm guilty of testing (also) some mixed aroma's from Flavormonks like Monks in Love and their Gin & mix series).

@djsvapour For future-me I'm curious what's your experience on why it's been difficult to lower your nicotine from 6mg/ml, is it the rush/sensation of the stuff, perhaps the throathit or just (so far) unexplained personal experience?

Difficult because I now feel like vaping twice as soon as before. :)
I hate the lack of throat hit, but I'm refusing to double the watts when I drop a level.

@djsvapour Some users over at my native-language forum use 5-10% of drinking alcohol (like wodka) in their juice to achieve some more throat hit, or some citrus or menthol components for that matter. Some also recommend to start your day with a higher level of nicotine and after that "first morning coffee moment" switch back to low nicotine juice. IDK... I've yet to get there, so I think you're doing fabulous already :)

My wife and I have many friends in Aruba and Curacao. A few years ago when we were visiting, we were going to be new grandparents but we were struggling with what to be called. Grandpa? Papa? Grandfather? My wife was never going to except Granny?

At any rate, one of our friends said we were going to be Oma and Opa. And that's what we have been called ever since.

Aww, that's sweet! I bet it's nice to have "exotic" and special salutations as grandparents :)

be thankful you don't like subohming, or you would have been driven to DIY a lot sooner! I'm learning coils, but less than 6 months in, I'm seriously considering DIY just because I'm a subohming addict and it's easy to find tanks magically empty.
Yeah, that's one reason I don't like my ego aio (the draining of juices...) ;-)
