The kit is still a really good deal, and I also bought a passthrough (they're nearly sold out now) for 12.99, less 10% and some juice, which is also reasonably priced. I spoke to the guy on the phone, and while he didn't offer to replace the batteries, he was very understanding and sympathetic, not arrogant or flippant about me not reading properly or anything (I sell on ebay, and have encountered my share of those). I won't hesitate to buy from them again. They shipped my first package quickly, and the juice (cream flavor) is delicious.

But yeah, sucks losing 7 batteries in one day. LOL

so, my hub got a 510(no idea from where since his bro ordered it for him). He has not been happy with how long the battery lasts, so I thought I could maybe get him a bigger one. How would I know what kind would be safe to use with his charger?

can you get bigger juice holder thingies for a 510?

You usually get 1 hour per 100 mah. So a mini battery that's a 180 mah will get around 2 hours.

He could get an ego at Liberty Flights. The Riva light bundle after you click the 20% off button on the top left is 29.99. Batteries will last 7+ hours each.

With the ego there are tons of options for cartomizers that hold a lot of juice. Regular boge cartos hold about 1 ml of juice. the Ego Mega Dual Coil cartomizers hold around 5ml of juice (probably less than that). The echo-e cartomizsers that fit on the ego hold around 3.5 ml of juice.

well, without getting him a new kit, are there just bigger batteries we can buy? I figure he will need new ones eventually. I just don't want to get the "wrong kind" and ruin a battery or charger like the OP did. I don't know enough about these to know the difference with the different 510's

Have you looked at the prices for a Riva 510 kit or Joye Ego from Liberty-Flights.com? The e-cig is about the size of a Sharpie and gives you much better battery life than a standard 510. You might still like the overall price even if you're paying for a whole kit instead of just a couple of replacement batteries.

You might also want to check the sticker on your 510 charger. If it looks like a Joye, you might want to look at the Joye 510 XL mega batteries for your existing kit.

If you can't tell from the charger what kind of kit you have, or what kind of polarity is on the batteries, you might consider ordering a Joye 510 charger and 2 or 3 Joye 510 regular or 510 XL mega batteries. If you kill the existing batteries with the new charger, you probably did yourself a favor in the long run and you still have the new batteries to vape with.

It's cheaper to get a kit.

I have never run across the problem that the OP did. My 510 is a joye and so is one of my egos. Riva and Joye are compatable. I have some SmokeTech batteries and they are compatable as well.

I'm not blaming the OP, it's an honest mistake that anyone can make but he does have it on his website that these are european kits with cut-offs. He does sell Joye kits and batteries as well. I don't think you'll come across this often unless you're buying off brands.

You can't charge any 510's on the ego fast chargers. But you were asking about bigger cartos and you'll get that with an ego. Honestly, you get a better vape with an ego because you can use LR cartos on ego batteries.

Can I use my regular battery chargers with these batteries? What about attys? I know the cartridges are too small (right?). I think I might want to upgrade, but I have a ton of 510 cartridges and attys already. Man, I am such a baby at this.

Your cartridges and atomizers that you've accumulated for your 510 kit will work on a Riva 510 or an Ego. No, your cartridges are not too small. They will still work. But, you may prefer switching to cartomizers at some point.

You should use the charger that comes with the Riva or Ego to charge the bigger batteries. They will charge fully and more quickly that way.

Oh man, had a reply typed and it vaporized (no pun intended - ok, maybe a small one).

Excellent news. So, the Riva batteries CAN be charged with my regular chargers, but will take longer, and the Riva chargers will prolly fry my regular 180a batteries?

I can also use my regular attys with a Riva battery? I ordered 10 from China a couple weeks ago, but they are on a slow boat here. Good to know they will work on the Riva should I choose to upgrade. I also ordered some cartos off ebay (I managed to catch him before ebay shut him down), but they haven't arrived yet. I really enjoy the flat tips. Anyone else like these better?

Any other suggestions? I have already dropped a fair amount of change on these little things, and I want to utilize as much of what I already have as I can. Frying my newest kit didn't help my situation.

Yeah, generally the smaller 510 chargers will work on the larger batteries but aren't recommended because they will take too long and possibly not give you a full charge. However, the FS 510 kit with reversed polarity would have killed most batteries.

You should be able to keep going for a while on a new kit and a supply of atomizers and cartridges. However, you might like to switch to cartomizers at some point. With a 650 mAh battery or better, the Boge LR cartomizers are nice (more flavor, but they'll kill a smaller battery). You might want to look at a drip tip with a whistle tip for the end of your cartomizers if you like the flat tips. I also hear good things about the Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizers that already come with a whistle tip. Again, they're only good for a 650 mAh battery or better.

I don't understand why anyone needs a FS charger/battery. Think it's just a way to kill equipment so you have to buy more, so unless there is some advantage to the FS equipment, it should be ban. Just hate it when something looks like the common stuff and will kill good equipment. They should at least put different threads on the FS equipment.

I was naive and learned a hard lesson. However, I bought another FS kit because the deal was still amazing. I just have to keep my FS and joye stuff separate.

More update: Spoke to Randall again today about an unrelated question on my recent order, and we got to talking about the FS kits some more (I actually opened the conversation with "Hi, I'm the one you spoke with a couple days ago that fried all her batteries," and he said "Oh yeah - man, that sucks!"). He said they are making even more changes to their website as we speak to try and get the "warnings" as noticeable as possible. He said that their primary motivation for selling these kits is because they were hounded with requests from people wanting affordable starter kits for friends and relatives to give them a taste of vaping, and the cheapo 510 kits they were ordering were just crap by comparison. he said that the feedback they got from these FS kits was positive, and that they produced a lot of vapor (which was my experience).

He also said they they are toying with the idea of only carrying these kits in "off" colors like gold, pink, green, etc. so that it's that much harder to confuse them with regular 510 equipment, but their dilemma is that most "beginners" really want the "real cig" look and always wants black or white. He said they are still tossing ideas around, but that the FS kits have been great with the exception of the charger issues - and they are working vigilantly to rectify that. He also said that my next order, he will personally add some more batteries because he understands how "suck" that must be to lose 7 batteries in one day. LOL ...I did tell him it wasn't necessary - that I was a loser for not reading my instructions - but he "gets" it and says they are not out to destroy peoples' stuff and wants to help fix it to some degree. I thought that was extremely nice of him. Very cool guy. They are definitely one of my favorites. Their "cream" flavor" juice is really smooth and awesome too.
