This is the kit I started with and I've been recommending it to newbies. It comes with everything you need to get started, except the juice. You get 2 batteries, 2 toppers and a charger. It's a good brand, Kanger, and the vendor is a reliable one. If you use the code ECF at checkout, it costs about $30, and the shipping is free. Here is a link:

That's what I am using. I love it. Very simple and easy to use. I would suggest going to your local vape shop to sample different flavors.

The strength (regular, light, ultra-light) of cigarettes you smoked plays a big role in what nicotine level to start with. If you smoked regular (full flavor), I think 18mg-24mg is probably a minimum. If you smoked lights, either 12mg or possibly 18mg. If, like me, you smoked ultra-lights.. well I won't say don't try 12mg, but be prepared for the possibility of nausea and stomach pains after you've been vaping for a few hours. If you do get that reaction, whatever level you choose, it's just a mild overdose of nicotine, and it will pass in a fairly short time, but you might want to consider dropping down to the next lower level, as I've had to do (18 and 12 both made me ill). I've found though, that with 6mg, I'm vaping pretty constantly, so I'm going to get some 12mg and combine with it the 6mg to make a 9mg for myself.

It's not necessary to quit suddenly, if you haven't already, although some people apparently find it very easy to do, once they start vaping. If you find the right e-juice, the one that hits you *just right*, it's possible that from that moment, you can drop the cigarettes like a hot potato. Or you might be more like me, and just find vaping so pleasurable that you find yourself smoking 1/4 of what you were used to, and not even missing it. That's how it's been for me, just a steady decline in the number of smokes per day, since starting *seriously* vaping, until now, at 1 a day, I'm ready to leave off the cigarettes entirely and just vape.

And no, it's not *exactly* like smoking; there are differences in how you inhale it, and vaping delivers nicotine somewhat more slowly than smoking does -- a few minutes rather than seconds -- but, it's so similar that it seems to scratch that smoking "itch." But like JaxMike said, there's no need to pressure yourself; once you find that perfect e-juice, you'll find the cigarettes just falling away. Seems a lot of folks here, with no intention to do, quit smoking "accidentally". :D

Hi and welcome-hope after all the suggestions mentioned already, you are able to find something that is a good starter set up for you-it can seem very, very overwhelming at first especially with all the opinions and advice offered, but after much reading/research and learning, you'll find something-first a nice set up, and then some good juice that you like in the nic level and ratios that work best for you-and sometimes, it does require some trial and error, but don't give up, you will get it-good luck and much success wished to you:)

I talked with an ecig retailer local to me. He told me that 24mg and 36mg of nic have big health risk's. Each analog has from 3-6mg of nicotine in it. Most of that goes up in smoke while its burning. If you must do the highs try to wean down fairly fast. That way you will truely benefit from the ecig. As far as what kind of cig to get. The Ego has been around for a long time. Low maintence. Super easy to use with a good amount of vapor. The batteries are very good. As far as variable voltage. Well if you chain vape it you will get a burnt hit pretty fast and be choking. 3.7 volts is all you need. That way you can chain vape for a while. You are less likely to get a burnt hit that makes you choke bad and cough hard. The standard Ego battery is 3.7volts. Ego is less expensive than those huge mods. After all starting is about ease of use. Comfort with using it. Max enjoyment. As you go along you might try the other stuff. Ego is still nice simple and fun. Juices come with PG and VG in them. I always try to get VG only or mostly. That adds to the amount of vapor. Takes longer to make you thursty. Do keep water with you as you vape. It does dehidrate you.

Stay safe and Vape on!
