Just wanted to say hello before I begin posting and asking questions. A friend of mine introduced me to vaping on his eGo. Since then, I've been wanting to quit smoking and move to the healthier alternative, plus my breath and clothes won't stink. Because I was desperate, I went to local smokeshop and tried a ploom and pure ecigs. They were a disappointment and waste of money. The ploom made very little vapor and the pures had no taste or th. I ended up going back to analogs until I can find the right ecig for me. I've been reading up on the ego, gogo, provari, and darwins. The amount of information is overwhelming and now I'm stuck and confused on what to try next. I guess I need a little advice on what to get taking in consideration of costs, maintenance, accessories, suppliers, and reliability. Like anyone, I want the best bang for the buck and something that will keep me off the analogs forever. Help....

Btw, I cut down substantially to 3-4 a day and smoke marlboro menthol lights. With all the ejuice available, i am not sure how much that equates to in nicotine mg etc. versus the taste.

Welcome!

I am amazed that you have been able to cut down so much on smoking with two set ups that aren't working well :toast: Sounds like any upgrade will do the trick.

I have been a Joye 510 user for about three months and loving it. So I think it's a good set up for some people. However, I read a lot of posts on more powerful devices such as ego, ego-T, Gogo and more... Read the threads and make your own selection based on your life style and your taste :)

It all comes down to how much you want to spend, how li.g you want your battery to last, whats the most convenient means of charging to you, and if being able to adjust the power beyond 3.7v is important to you.

I own a Darwin and a reo. I started with an ego type pv. The ego types are 3.7v devices but put out about 3.4 under load. It wasn't enough for me even with an LR atomizer, but many are very happy with that set up. The Darwin is easily adjustable, not very heavy, feel good in the hand and you can put any atty/carto (LR, Sr, HV) on it and it will self adjust to your power preference (watts preference). I tried a provari and its a nice looking mod, but I like easy and I didn't want to tap through menus to adjust my volts and it was pretty heavy.

Finding the mod for you takes research, there are so many choices and what works for one may not work for another for many reasons.

Good luck!

Hi Cheezycheech! Welcome to ECF! It sounds like you've been doing good research, and I'm sort of a newbie too...and I'm still smoking (marlboro menthol lights) some and vaping too, but not due to the e-cig I have (other issues right now) You'll have to experiment with the nic levels in the juice, because everyone has a different tolerence/need for nicotine. You might want to get some 24 mg and some lower nic level juices too so you can experiment. You'll want more than one flavor anyway, and there are many, many flavors out there. Read the threads, and you'll find some good info on that too. Stick with the vendors that ECF members recommend, and you shouldn't have any problems with order issues or equipment issues out of the box. These vendors have good customer service, and most of them are fellow vapers too!

If you like the larger battery e-cigs, which it looks like you might, my Hubby is doing really well with his Go-Go from CigEasy (they include a bottle of liquid with the kit and it's 24 mg). We have a friend also, that had to quit smoking and he bought some off-brand kit that was pathetic, so we got him a Go-Go as well. He has completely stopped smoking now. I can't speak to the ego or any mods, as I've no experience with them, but if you go and search the threads, there is one going that is "all about the Go-Go", and there are several people posting their experiences with them. There is also a mod section as well, if you're into that. The Go-Go puts out amazing vapor, and good TH.

The Cartomizers are about the size around of a small cigar, and hold 3 ML of juice! One battery will last 8+ hours, more or less depending on how you vape. A full cart will last 4-6 hours (approx) again, depending on how much you vape. They are one of the newer larger battery e-cigs, and they are really nice.

Our friend also bought an Elegant Easy from CigEasy, and he loves it as it's a little smaller, easier for him to hold (he's disabled) for when he's out and about. But it is a smaller battery than the Go-Go and the kit only comes with one battery.

For about the same price, the Go-Go kit comes with 2 batteries...good to last a couple of days if you don't power vape all the time. Hopefully this little tidbit helps to steer you in the right direction, and it doesn't matter what e-cig you get, as long as it works for you and helps you get off the analogs for good.

Good luck, have fun with it, and please don't hesitate to ask questions here. There is a vast amount of experience and very helpful people here. The more the merrier!!

It certainly takes a lot of will power to only smoke after I eat. The guilt and the smell just kills me!

I've been reading up on the Darwin and Reo's. Definitely over my budget but I have a feeling I maybe leaning towards those solutions in the future. However, I guess I should start at a medium range and move up unless recommendations suggest otherwise.

What did you think of your friends ego? You can get one for about $30.

The ego tasted good but I was smoking already so I couldn't tell if it would satisfy my urge on a daily basis. He also mentioned that it would leak and battery didn't last very long. Since then he said he upgraded to a larger cartomizer and battery. So I wax even more confused.

Hey and welcome. I am new too, and did the same exact thing. I bought some expensive disposable e-cigs which was a total waste of 25 dollars. Lasted less than a day, and the battery died after only two carts and it came with four!

Im new too, and just ordered my Joye Ego and still waiting for it so I can't help much with questions other than what I researched. But welcome and good luck with your decision to quit smoking!

Edit: I bought mine from Liberty-Flights.com and i've heard nothing but good things about them. The Ego kit comes with two atomizers, two batteries, usb charger and the rest of accessories for only $50.00 which I found to be the best deal out of the many many sites i looked at. A lot of them only had one atomizer, or one battery, or not a USB charger for the same price or more.

Are you sure it was an ego? If you use cartomizers they don't leak at all. I've never had a drop leak while vaping. The batteries last about 8 hours. I have a 1000 mah battery that lasts over a day.

Maybe he had a 510? That's smaller and the battery is smaller.

Check out Liberty Flights for the Riva Ego. Click on the 20% coupon code on the top left and it's $29.99. Get a box of Boge 2.0 cartomizers, a couple of drip tips and you're all set. Except the juice.

Swedishfish is giving you the most cost-effective solution to getting a satisfying vape. She knows what she is talking about :)

Great post Wolfstar!

Yes, thx wolfstar. Great advice. I'm kind of leaning towards the gogo since it can hold a lot of juice, large battery, and small enough to conceal. Does anyone know if there's other brands/models I can research for comparison? Also, who has the best prices and customer service? I really felt ripped for spending $80+ for the Ploom/Pure kit with refills and the guys had no idea how to operate their products. They really gave the ecig industry a bad name.

I'd look into the echo. It's on backorder though.
