Hi, nlaq! Honestly, there are so many flavors and vendors to choose from and as a newbie, It's really hard for me to know where should I start. I'm planning to buy some samplers to give them a try. I've seen so many flavors coming from fruits, is it the best taste for beginner like me?

That totally depends on you! :)

The first thing you have to realize is that you won't find something that is exactly like tobacco. This is for two reasons:

A) It's very difficult to mimic the taste of burning leaves without actually burning leaves - so most tobacco flavors taste and smell like fresh tobacco leaves rather than smoke. Funny enough, I thought Blu had the most appealing tobacco taste to me when I started. I didn't personally enjoy any other aspect of Blus, but I almost wished they sold their juices as something I could drip.

B) I've seen this posted by many people, and I agree with it myself: you may like the taste of cigarettes now, as I did before I quit, but it won't take very long for your sense of taste and smell to uncover how bad they really taste. Once your brain turns off the connection between an analog and nicotine, you may start realizing that you don't really even like the taste of tobacco.

That all being said: my first juice was a tobacco flavor. It wasn't a bad one, but I had this idea in my mind that since vaping is kinda like smoking, it has to taste as close to smoking as possible. I think that was a mistake.

These days I go with fruit, hands down. Fruit is sweet, naturally good tasting, and refreshing - but not overwhelming. Some people like more creamy flavors, but I personally don't as much. Remember: you're going to be vaping a lot (at least as much as you smoked), so you need a flavor that isn't too strong or overpowering. Think of juice like a food: you may like something for a few bites, even a plateful - but after a while your taste buds will get used to the flavor and it loses it's appeal.

Hell; I've picked up juices before at the shop that I thought tasted amazing, only to empty and refill my tank with something else halfway though the day.

So for me, fruit is a safe bet. That's what I usually try first.

You could also try menthol/mint. The flavors of menthol/mint are very close to the feeling you get from the menthol analogs; so if you liked methods, you may like menthol juices.

But really the only advice I can give, without knowing your taste preferences, is find something that is straightforward, not too complex, and easy to vape. That would serve you for your "go-to" juice.

Of course, you can always get another tank and keep it filled with a "desert" vape - something that you enjoy the taste of, but don't like to vape all of the time. After all, we don't eat cake and ice cream 24/7 ;)

If so what the PG/VG ratio that people usually go with?

Usually it's 50/50. For a tank system, I would recommend that. Another common one that I see (which I vape on sometimes) is 30/70 PG/VG. However, I "drip" - meaning I don't have a tank that I fill. Instead, I drip the juice directly onto the coils and wicks themselves. The reason why this is important is that VG can gunk up tanks. However, more VG, more vapor. More PG, more flavor and "throat hit."

That being said, some people are allergic to either PG or VG; so sometimes you don't have a choice.

But basically: 50/50 will be your best bet for use with a tank, especially for someone new. Higher VG can make the vape feel very "airy" and light, which isn't appealing at first because cigarettes are the opposite. It took me a long time to get used to airy vapor and large airflow; at first I liked tighter, more dense, draws.

To nlaq: Thank you so much for your helps, I'm really grateful. I'm thinking to pick some fruit flavors as well as a tea one. I personally don't drink coffee so I don't really coffee taste or smell. Now time for picking up the vendors. Do you know any vendors that sell sampler packs or e-juice at the affordable price? I want to try some of my favorite fruits before going to the specific one.

Other than Virgin Vapors (but only their fruit flavors, their other ones were pretty bad), I don't have any other online vendors I can suggest. My daily vape is Dewdrop and Solstice from "Music City Vape Sauce" which I think is local to Tennessee (I get it from the local shop).

Look at this thread for other suggestions :)

Killer Juice has weekly sales, Weds-Sun where selected flavors are either .99 or 1.99 for 15 ml.

(The sale isn't up yet though, you might have to wait until they wake up over there!)
Killer Juice

They recently made their juices a lot stronger, which makes them much better.

I would avoid going for huge sampler packs (For example, one vendor will give you 40 10-ml bottles, one of each of their flavors for $55.) The problem with getting lots of flavors from a single vendor is that you may not like any of them. It's better to spread things around a bit when you start.
Try some fruits, maybe a dessert or two, or beverages. (Killer-juice's "Mountain Dew" (MTN) flavors, like Baja Blast are pretty good )

If you would like one specific recommendation, try "Deadly Sin" from Good Life Vapor. It's a cinnamon-roll (kind of) flavor that I (and many others I've had try it) really like. Hard to describe the taste, though; at lower power it can taste like a rice-krispies bar, as you crank the power up you get more cinnamon.

Also get at least one menthol or mint. This is good to have around if your other juices start tasting too blah (which happens to a lot of people as they start vaping - search for "Vaper's Tongue")

Have fun!

Okay everyone, thank you all for your very helpful advises. I've already bought the MVP 2.0 along with the mini nautilus tank and some coils. Any recommendation for the e-juice?

Dear Kenny,

Marlboro like juice:
Though their prices did just go up (grumble-grumble), for quality and the most Marlboro like flavor, I have been using FreedomSmokeUSA.com's juice.
I came up with my own blend of their specialty flavors to most closely approximate smoking a Marlboro:

75% Desert Cowboy (for the ashy throat hit and general flavor of a Marlboro)
and
25% Wyatt Earp (which adds the sweetness of a real Marlboro)

Mixed together like that, with a good tank like the Nautilus-Mini that you purchased, it's about as close to the real Marlboro taste experience as I have found, and I've gotten very good reviews from friends who have picked up my rig and tasted it!

GOOD DEAL on coil heads:
I just ordered 2 Nautilus BVC coil head (1.6ohm, 5 packs) with 40% off coupon code "40PERCENT" (expires 9/25/2014 at midnight)
https://www.myfreedomsmokes.com/heads-coils-cartridges/heads-coils/aspire-bvc-replacement-heads.html
With shipping it came to $16.66 (for all 10 Nautilus BVC heads)

RE: tank performance and cost
I have a nautilus and like it very much, but hate having to buy the replacement coil heads.
One of the best purchases I have made since I started vaping was:

* 1 "Kayfun Lite Plus" clone (~$17, free shipping, from fastech.com),
* 1 100ft spool of 28 gauge kanthal wire (~$8),
* 1 bag of "Maxim-Hygiene" organic cotton balls (~4 with shipping online cause I'm lazy)

With that I can rebuild my Kayfun for the next 2 years, and the Nautilus is the only tank I have that even comes close to the performance.
You can check out how this works at:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3CQnBesJaY (about the Kayfun)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z7o7RFoTtw0 (rebuilding coils for the Kayfun, also includes links for buying kanthal & cotton)

PS: I also use the Itazte MVP 2.0 ) (which includes coil resistance meter)

Good luck, enjoy, and have fun!

Hi, everybody. I just received everything today and took my first e-cig draw ever. I got 4 bottom of e-juices from mt baker vapor which i found has pretty much everything e-juices tastes at a decent price. I've ordered them all at 50/50 PG VG ratio, 18mg nicotin. I put the banana creampie e-juices in my nautilus tank and enjoy my first draw. First of all, I can felt a little bit of e-juice tasted and smell but its really harsh. I also didn't get a decent clouds as i expect. Why would that be? Am I doing something wrong? The guy who was an assistant from MT baker vapor suggested me to steep these juices whenever I got it. So what's the best common way to steep my juices?

Hi, GT86. Thanks for your advising. I definitely will buying the MVP V2, I'm just a little concerned with those tanks. So many types to choose from and the prices are variable. I'm about to buy the Nautilus tank because I found great reviews both on google and youtube about this tank. I'm confusing between the mini and regular nautilus tank, is there any difference between them? Will I get more throat-hitting with the regular one than the mini?

As for tanks. I can personally recommend the AerotankV2. The mini and the regular use the same coil the only difference is how much juice it holds... Get the regular one, the mini you'll be filling every 10 minutes and it will be a pain. The coils last a good while, are cheap as chips to replace, the adjustable airflow is great, has an all glass and stainless steel body. And best of all.. DOES NOT LEAK! Nothing wrong with the nautilus. But back when i was using tanks the AeroV2 was hands down my favorite. I still use it on occasion if i'm in a situation i can't drip.

As you already said. You're getting the MVP2.0 Which is a GREAT starter mod, I had one as well.

There is just one heads up.... You are going to get these products. And learn to vape... Then you are going to learn how everything works and what you need to enhance the parts of this experience you like the best... Then... Magically.... Your bank account is going to start hemorrhaging money as you snatch up batteries left and right, high end regulated mods will soon make sense and you'll want something in the 50-100 watts range, then you'll start researching drippers and other rebuildables... And you'll love every second of it.

Your bank account won't....

But you will...

Happy vaping.
